UK has a decent sized Jewish population but they are no where near as ingrained in the popular culture as in the states where they form a disproportionately large part of the media for the number of actual residents and I think that probably has something to do with it.

@mems_1224: He bought timed rights to the upcoming game. Sorry I had to spell that out for you. Even worse the deal allows the game on PC in early 2016 while not coming to PS4 until holiday 2016. Now someone tell that was not an anti-PlayStation deal.
Last year Spencer was saying he wanted to win this generation and now it isn't important any more. He just says whatever sounds good at the moment.
For me, it's all in good fun. I couldn't care less who sells more. Some fanboys get kinda wild with what they say, but does anyone really take them serious? System wars is just a fun place to get gaming news and a bunch of opinions for me.

Microsoft's head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, has said he feels the ongoing console-versus-console-feud raging rampant in online forums, comment sections, and social networks is something he finds "distasteful."
Speaking in an interview with GameSpot, Spencer was asked, in light of his success shifting the focus back to games on the Xbox One, what he'd like to tackle next and what keeps him up at night.
"I've said before, the one thing that I probably find a little distasteful in the discourse around games is the divisiveness that people try to build between platforms," he replied.
"It becomes more about what piece of plastic I own than what games I'm playing. It becomes more about somebody else failing than the things I love succeeding. I don't think that's a good place for our industry."
The Xbox exec noted that not everyone is partaking in their arguments but, nevertheless, it is a part of the gaming industry that he is actively interested in combating.
"I know that's not everybody, and it's easy to find the pockets of that vitriol and I kind of think that that is gaming, but I'm not going to embrace that. I'm going to actively push against that," he said.
Spencer's affable nature and willingness to directly praise his competitors has become one of the defining characteristics of his leadership. In the past he has congratulated Sony on the success of its PS4 exclusive Bloodborne, shown support for Nintendo's new CEO, and brokered deals with Oculus.
This, Spencer says, doesn't get in the way of his mission to make Xbox One the best video game platform it can be.
"People sometimes will make fun of me that I mentioned Sony or I mentioned Nintendo," he said. "It's not to placate anybody or make them think I'm some kind of good guy.
"My job isn't really to keep you from buying something else. My job is to make you proud of what we offer, and to give you an enjoyable experience with the product we have. That's 100% of what I'm focused on."
Elsewhere in the interview Spencer said he believes Halo has the same staying power as entertainment juggernauts such as Star Wars and Spider-Man, but requires managing to ensure it isn't overexposed.

What a load of horse shit, even down to the way he dresses now. He went from expensive suit to this in order to appeal to the gamer. He should just be REALLY honest. His entire persona is placating now.
It's his job to put the brand in a good light. He knows he is representing a brand that has suffered immense damage. He is representing a product that was built from the ground up for a consumer that doesn't exist. He is the face of a company that has to reverse course on everything it has done for over a decade in order to survive in an environment and culture that moved on. The worst part about it, for him at least, is that he has to do all of these things without the goodwill and blank paychecks of the past.
If I am perfectly honest, I'd say he's doing pretty well at a very hard job. I'm sure it's not easy being this guy, at least if he honestly cares about the product. That being said, asking the gamers to go easy simply isn't going to happen. The gamers have never been a sympathetic audience. They never will be, which is why the Anita Sarkesians of the world get skewered as well.
It's actually a shame that he's showing his belly. Rather than holding it against the gamers of the world that they have misgivings about what is obviously a flawed product, he could listen to the naysayers and build a better one next time around. So, for everyone who is wishing the XBone could just hit the 'Easy Mode' button and make the "haters" go away, I have news for you. You didn't learn a fucking thing. It's only going to get worse.
The console wars are stupid. Playstation 4 and Xbox One are the exact same platform. They're slightly different shades of the same color. They're also both extremely anti-consumer, designed at their core as a platform for big businesses to rip-off their customers.
Go to PC if you want a pro-consumer open platform that encourages creativity and community. Go to Wii-U if you want fun console games. Go to PS4 / Xbone if you want to be sold overpriced garbage focus tested to appeal to a wide (and dumb!) demographic.
To be fair, PC isn't for everyone, which is why consoles are here for that and it's just a gaming console to the average consumer. My point is, we just want to buy the console, turn it on, and play it. That's it. For me personally, I'm just a gamer, I play to enjoy and nothing more.
@StrongBlackVine: I find it fun to watch fanboys get upset because a game scored high or scored low. I can find out game announcements, graphical comparisons, sales results, info on all the different trade shows all while seeing a bunch of fanboys go rabid over what is shown. I find this place a blast to visit on a daily. Plus not everyone on here is jaded by a piece of plastic, there are plenty of unbiased opinions here. While, SW has gone downhill since they updated the site, but I still find it to be my favorite gaming forum.

Phil seems like a pretty chill guy, but let's be real here there's another reason for not wanting a console war.
If I was getting my ass kicked and started the generation with a watercooler that required me to sit behind my couch so I can understand the 768p era antics taking place on my television set I wouldn't want any part in a war either.

It's Yiddish, I believe. We Americans take words from other languages that we like (schmuck just sounds good), and make it part of our vernacular. I think its an extension of the whole "melting pot" thing.

The XB1 is selling better than the 360 did in the same time period. It's not exactly like its a failure, or that MS has to beg 3rd party developers to make games for it... like Sony had to do in the early goings of the PS3.

It has always been like this, but a lot of posters left when the update happened. I used to get a kick out of Tenaka and the kid about the leaves in Fable. The debates on how The Witcher 2 looked better on 360 against PC were an epic amount of funny. Some good times imo.

I agree with Phil Spencer. He is an intelligent, likeable and reasonable person. I agree with his comments about attacking other people’s gaming machines. I have a lot respect for him for the positive comments he made about Nintendo.
All I know is look at the comments in this thread and judge for yourself. Sony fanboys are a bunch of angry haters. You would think having the best console ever made they'd have better attitudes but they are always mouth frothing angry over minor stuff like PR spin from MS.
