It's not a conspiracy theory to think that MS could ship machines out faster than they could before. Their previous machine sold 80M units. They're going to be able to ship the first 30M XBones with few questions asked. That's how business works.

Have you actually stopped to look at how many different hardware configurations and SKUs have been put on shelves since this launched? Retail's guess is as good as anyone's when it comes to unit allocation and bypassing the channel for the main SKUs. Now, when you compare how many XBone SKUs have come out compared to the 360 in this same time period of generation, the story is crystal clear. No need for conspiracy theories.

When push comes to shove, it's going to cost more to warehouse consoles that aren't selling than it is to subsidize the price (again). Their punch is ludicrously easy to telegraph for this holiday season. As far as Sony is concerned? Their price drop/re-SKU will occur between the 23rd-28th of November.

... As a pc gamer I see no reason to buy either the PS4 or Xbox One.. Their biggest games this gen are coming out on the pc, and what few exclusives there are.. Are ones with suitable replacements/alternatives.... I really don't think the Xbox One or PS4 was ever marketed towards pc gamers in all honesty..

My head is ready to explode over your ignorance. Look, it's not that hard - if MS is shipping 100,000 XB1s a week, and retailers can't sell them, those retailers will stop ordering them. So, MS will have to scale back shipments. If MS is shipping 100,000 XB1s a week, and retailers are putting in orders totaling 125,000 a week, MS will increase production to match demand.

Retailers are not going to keep a glut of stock so MS can inflate their ship numbers.

Would never buy an Xbox because I dont see the point. PS4 is simply a better place to play with better games IMO. That being said that was a very classy and professional response.

No they're not specifically marketed towards PC gamers but we're still gamers i.e. we love games and personally I didn't want to miss out on their best exclusives so I bought the consoles. There's a shitload of stuff coming up on PS4 that will never be on PC (like last gen) and I kind of expected the same from Xbox One but nope.

Only company I was a fan of was SEGA. Now if they still made consoles then I'd own up to being one. However, I'm a gamer and game on just about everything. Only reason I'm hesitant about MS this gen is the lack of compelling games. They tend to have shooters and racers....two genres I don't much play. And they are moving to PC and since I just built a gaming PC last year there isn't much need for the One. I have both the original and the 360. I think they were a bit more inventive with the first console and by the 360 era I was mostly getting the multi plats. I will NOT apologize for not kissing MS' ass. If that's what you think someone has to do then you're sadly mistaken and YOUR bias shows. Stop being dishonest.

I welcome MS to generate some games to make their console a worthy addition to my PC, PS4, and Wii U this gen. The ball is in THEIR court....not mine. I'm a consumer. They have to give me value for my money. And Forza, Gears, and Halo aren't it. Pirate game? Nah. Rare Replay would be okay as a game to pick up IF I had the console. Not a game to sell me on the console though.

No real number what so ever when on 2007 they were screaming 11.6 million sold,but back then the 360 wasn't behind the PS3..

The xbox one is barely outselling the xbox 360,they arrived at 10 million on November 2014 by over flooding the market with as much as 4 million units,or even more,the xbox 360 achieve 10 million shipped by December 31 2006 as well,basically very close.

Not only that they are barely beating the 360 and they had 2 price slashes and free games since launch,something the xbox 360 never enjoy is such a short time,or ever so until August 2014 the xbox one and xbox 360 were uneven price wise the xbox 360 got its first price drop on August 2007 almost 2 years after launch and no free games,no free gears,no free oblivion or fifa no free saints row no nothing,the xbox one has get a barrage of free games and Big names to.

So what you see as selling better i see it as a failure,the xbox 360 and xbox one weren't on even field hell the 360 had a launch shortage that lasted 5 months the xbox one all the contrary it saturated the market with unsold consoles.

Yeah have you see the last shipments.? They just ship big in Holidays the rest is weak,in fact the PS4 outship them both combined the 360 and xbox one,by a considerable margin and on 2014 xbox shipments were slow down or even half until stores clear their inventory that didn't happen to sony,so shipped doesn't mean sold dude stop your damage controls.

Microsoft's head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, has said he feels the ongoing console-versus-console-feud raging rampant in online forums, comment sections, and social networks is something he finds "distasteful."

Speaking in an interview with GameSpot, Spencer was asked, in light of his success shifting the focus back to games on the Xbox One, what he'd like to tackle next and what keeps him up at night.

"I've said before, the one thing that I probably find a little distasteful in the discourse around games is the divisiveness that people try to build between platforms," he replied.

"It becomes more about what piece of plastic I own than what games I'm playing. It becomes more about somebody else failing than the things I love succeeding. I don't think that's a good place for our industry."

The Xbox exec noted that not everyone is partaking in their arguments but, nevertheless, it is a part of the gaming industry that he is actively interested in combating.

"I know that's not everybody, and it's easy to find the pockets of that vitriol and I kind of think that that is gaming, but I'm not going to embrace that. I'm going to actively push against that," he said.

Spencer's affable nature and willingness to directly praise his competitors has become one of the defining characteristics of his leadership. In the past he has congratulated Sony on the success of its PS4 exclusive Bloodborne, shown support for Nintendo's new CEO, and brokered deals with Oculus.

This, Spencer says, doesn't get in the way of his mission to make Xbox One the best video game platform it can be.

"People sometimes will make fun of me that I mentioned Sony or I mentioned Nintendo," he said. "It's not to placate anybody or make them think I'm some kind of good guy.

"My job isn't really to keep you from buying something else. My job is to make you proud of what we offer, and to give you an enjoyable experience with the product we have. That's 100% of what I'm focused on."

Elsewhere in the interview Spencer said he believes Halo has the same staying power as entertainment juggernauts such as Star Wars and Spider-Man, but requires managing to ensure it isn't overexposed.
