Well games do involve art as far as I'm concerned. The soundtracks, visuals and even the stories could constitute as art when presented separately, and personally I don't feel combining them decreases their impact. So in that sense yes they can be art imo. But if there's some silly definition that says art can't be interactice then I guess they're not.

Some yes, some no

For example i could never consider a repeatitve dark game like KZ2 art in the slightest, but games like Fable, FF, Braid are pure art

That is why the new 2D XBLA RPG is my mostr wanted 360 game in 2009 (or 2010 whenever it arrives)

Oh that 2D XBLA RPG only you know about LOL

Absolutely. There are plenty of games that have a lot of artisitc merit. Shadow Of The Colossus, Silent Hill 2 and Valkyria Chronicles are just a few examples. Silent-Hal
I have to agree on this. Especially on the titles you mentioned. I would like to add some titles myself: Okami, Odin Sphere, Demon Blade, XenoGears, Plane Scape Torment, Silent Hill 2, Ico

If an urinal can be art, I don't know how games can't. Everything is subjective.404-not-found

I truly believe that Videogames can be art, i mean, i know that Kojima said that, and he really had a point, but at the end, and IMO art is something that transmit a feeling, art is something that make you feel, from Sadness (SotC) to fun (SMG) and other things, and like in every art form, there are tons of bad Art and tons of great Art.

So, for me, i think that Videogames can be considered as Art.

Obviously the entire game is not art, but video games can contain art. Just pause Okami and you'll see what I mean.

Everything in a video game is art by default. It just happen most games don't even recognize that characteristic, and fail to artistically impress. One might find beauty in the grass in Flower, the deadness in Killzone 2, the complexity of Street Fighter, the way silent Hill games evoke emotions, the way Persona 4 evolves its story, etc. All them are subject to being artistically appealing. I simply do not understand people who fail to see this.

Of course, after that, we can have in games all the other mediums which already have artistic value, such as music, writing, etc.
