Definitely the fourth one. Couldn't get the BF3 beta working, tried like 5 solutions, in the end it screwed up my PC and had to do a system recovery. It just makes me sick, then I thought back about my xbox 360, which never had even one issue to play its games.

Objectively PC has more better quality games than consoles.

Personally I think that dedicated servers on PC for fps make for great communities and are more social than console shooters.

And where exactly does this "pc gaming is for loners" argument come from?

Objectively based on what?

Objectively going by System Wars spreadsheet for this generation which is considered the norm here.

How are consoles more social than PCs!?!!

Im playing PES2012 with friends on PC the same exactly way as if i had a console.

Also the biggest communities and online games are PC oriented since mid 90s.

As we speak there are 100.000 people on Diablo 2 game , a 12 years old game.

Check some of the biggest LAN arena and tournaments in the world also. ALL are for PCs only!! What socialism you talking about is beyond me... GO google DREAMHACK LAN PARTY and then we talk about "social" consoles.

EDIT : Whoever can link this ill appreciate because i cant..

I prefer console gaming because most great games are console exclusive nowdays

lundy86_4

Not really. It's a pretty fair split.

Because PC is meant for doing homework. Why would I want to play games on a pc. RickTophen

So the initial idea in creating the PC as a platform was for people to do homework?

yes. yes it was.

I dunno... if I didn't have any system at all, for what I'd pay for a pc that can play every game on the spreadsheet with decent settings/performance, I could buy a Wii, PS3, and 360... which would beat the pc library on the spreadsheet...

IMHO, the PC spreadsheet is kind of a joke anyway. Ports of XBLA/PSN games get counted alongside full games on PC. Expansion (non-stand-alone) packs get counted with the same weight as full games... I'm surprised Facebook apps aren't counted on the spreadsheet for PC too, to be honest...

That looks pretty cool and all. Lemme ask you this though... what exactly is it proving? Has anyone ever claimed a $600 pc in 2011 wasn't more powerful than a $200 console in 2011? If I didn't already have a gaming system and I was going to spend $600 today, I could buy a PS3, 360, and a Wii.... If you want to impress me, show me a $200-250 pc at today's prices that can run modern games, or a $400-$600 pc from 2005-6 that can still run all the games released for the platform

:P this about double of $200-250 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afKIBJ3zC7M&feature=related

what were you dealing with ?

The game would first get stuck at the little joining screen, which after a while I could fix. Then another error occured, not being able to connect to the server. I looked up the best solutions, none helped. At one of them all my icons on the pc, all of them, became the BF3 one for some reason. They couldn't be changed or anything. Then I did a system recovery and rage quit that night.

The next morning it suddenly worked, when barely anyone was playing. It was the last day too, I wanted to try caspian border. But good fight, my motherboard with integrated graphics just sucked too much. RAGED so hard. LOL.

None of the above. I got tired of all the upgrades that came with PC gaming in order to run games on max settings. And if you're only running PC games on medium settings you might as well just switch to consoles. That's what I did for my primary platform.

I still have a gaming PC but mainly for MMOs and RTS games.

the integrated GPU is probably part of the problem especially if ur using an intel one.

I did install the beta drivers, otherwise it wouldn't work at all. The game worked but it was so unplayable, I just laughed. IF I ever play PC games, they never need high graphics. I was already afraid it would suck too much for BF3. Wanted to try anyway though. Not spending a few 100's on a GTX580 thing if I never play. Point is, I had issues because I had to edit stuff in regedit and other things, it was too annoying while the game should just start. My loyal 360 never does that. I'm okay with generally good graphics, which is the 360.

Okay, but that wasn't part of the problem I was describing. The problem was getting the game started which shouldn't have been such a fuss. I'll keep those in mind though, am going to get a new PC. A trustworthy one, no integrated crap. :P

Very funny, I'm surprised by now you still didn't realize how wrong you are. lol Pentium d family?? is this a joke? the world couldn't be careless it's a duo core or not when it behind all single core P4 3.0ghz CPU in nearly every performance(especially gaming)

http://techreport.com/articles.x/8369/5

you are stretching too far from the original object, where the other poster was right and you weren't, with a rig like P4+7800GT or your punny Pentium D+7800GT, which cost far more than $600 back then, what game can you run today more than 5 fps with lowest setting?

AOE3 is probalby the only game I played from 2004-2006(rank 34 Lieutenant Colonel) brought a 7800GT pretty much just for that, unfortunately at intense online 2 vs 2 or 3 vs 3, it struggle with 15-30fps. but I guess you only played single player portion on that one nor I think you own a card like that.

[QUOTE="starjet905"]AGP to PCI Express? The jump had already happened. Your example, the 7800GT primarily came in a PCI Express flavour. And can't even get games started? Shows how little you know. Most games even available today can be played at low settings on a 7800GT. And about the "can't get any games started" bit? Even a 6200 can start many of today's games, although 1 to 5 FPS wouldn't be playablestarjet905

why repeat the point where you already got schooled? 7800GT could probably still run games at lowest setting with 1-5 fps, however not with a P4(or your pentium D LAWLz!)with any rig from 4-6 year old(let along a $600 ones) you can hardly do anything today, let along matching the console experience. and why are you proving my point again? APG to PCI express transaction first started @ 7xxx generation , it's PCI expresso only, but there are also APG version

You don't need an i7 930 to max out Crysis. If you think that's necessary, either you're not a PC gamer like you claim (in which case you're a liar) or you're from some other planet. o.O And the rest of it is still pulling out **** about ridiculous requirementsstarjet905

kid, just because someone able to point out your ignorance, it doesn't make him less a PC gamer, there's no way a single platform guy like you can match me on PC/console gaming knowledge. Plus, you are in what position to tell someone when to upgrade? I upgrade PC to get maximum experience, there are more PC games needs 6-8 threads cores than you know, start from RF:G, BF:BC2, GTAIV(though I beat 3 times on console before PC's release) you will need at least a 4 thread core to run these games @ an playable fps

You think that 61 in the corner is supposed to prove that you have a GTX 480? Why is it a shot of just looking at the sky with just a tiny bit of foliage seen? Oh, and wait, you're in the menu. And it's actually 1024x640 which is sub-HD. Even the Crysis console version gives a better resolution. Anyway, I'm out of this. No use trying to explain, cause you fanboys know only to bring up personal attacks and twist facts. But then again, maybe that's the point of system wars.starjet905

ROFL@ at your 1024x640, that's imageshack's resize which fit the forum view the best. I don't know why I have to prove my rig to someone on internet especially since GTX480 isn't even the best card, but for one last time.

Didn't watch the video, but $480? Again, not impressed that you can get a pc that costs as much now as a 360 or PS3 did in 2005-6, or 2 times what they cost now. That doesn't really dispel the idea that unless you specifically want pc exclusives, consoles are the better value.

I have zero qualms with PC gaming itself or people that choose it (I'd be an idiot if I did), but it's not for me. The games don't interest me and I already have a computer, so why spend hundreds of dollars on a new one to play games?

Then what is the reason? Except exclusives, there's nothing that a console can do that a PC can't.starjet905
Except exclusives, there is nothing a PC can do a that a console can`t do cheaper. (This is a joke, but it has a little truth behind it.)
People accuse PC gamers of being elitist because they're too stupid to do simple tasks and they have no point to make. They have no argument, that's why they resort to personal attacks. Or they're upset they can't build their own PC. You people are all over the place first it's the cost, then it's you want to sit on a sofa then it's because my wife plays hello kitty with me.Fact is you're either not smart enough for PC gaming or you're too poor. Pick one or the other. Judging by the fact you spent 600$ on a video game console I would suspect you're not poor therefore you fall into the first group mentioned.Goro69
Being an @ss hole doesn`t make you right. A PC is about twice the price of a console. Whether I can afford it or not doesn`t matter. I would rather own two consoles then one PC. Because I don`t want to deal with tweaking settings, doesn`t mean I am incapable of doing so. I don`t really notice the difference between 1080p on my HDTV and 360, and a high end PC playing the same game. If they are side by side I notice a diffirence, but I have only played one version of a game at a time before. Graphics alone have never been a big factor for me. I am not a big fan of MMOs. I could get into RTS`s, but one genera, that I don`t have much experience with, isn`t worth buying a gaming PC. If somebody gave me one, then I would dabble. But I have grown up with console games. I just prefer them.
But I will say this, you and the vast majority of console gamers here know absolutely nothing about PC gaming, you don't own a PC capable of playing games and you simply don't want to know. Which means you're entering a debate with no credibility.Goro69
I admit, I don`t own, and never have owned a gaming PC. But with the wondrous thing called the internet, you can learn anything. I had interest in the subject, so I have researched everything about PC gaming thoroughly. With your logic history class is useless because we were not there and so can not possibly understand.

Your wrists will only hurt if they aren't supported properly. A good computer chair solves all of that.

[QUOTE="foxhound_fox"][QUOTE="AzatiS"]Bro , my PC costed 750euros , i bought it 5 months AFTER PS3 release when PS3 costed in my country 600euros with no game at that time, and im still playing games at 1920x1200. Games like Dead space 2 etc etc . And i wont change this rig till consoles next gen. And if i drop my resolutions/settings to 720p , its almost sure ill survive even into 2014 ( assuming this is the date PS4/x720 coming ). Thats 8 years to 9 of a "cheap" rig. Nowdays a rig of 450 destroys mine for sure. As of time i dont get what you mean time. To install a game? \ As for this overeacting about customization ( not you just generally )....How is a mere 20seconds ( which many games have auto settings depends your rig which is 1 second ) or even 1 minute time consuming!!? But ok , i respect your opinion , at least you giving valid reasons why you dont like it . different tastes i guess.

My gaming budget ranges from nothing, to about $50 a month. The kind of PC I want to build would have higher-level things, like a large, high-quality monitor, nice headphones and ROM drives for various types of media (among other things). Certainly, I could spend $400 and get enough hardware to fill up my desktop with competent hardware, but I'd rather spend that money on games (there are just too many coming out nowadays). When I game on PC, I get really anal about settings and optimizing performance. I can spend hours tweaking settings until I get them where I want... not to mention searching for mods (I spent days sifting through Oblivion mods a couple years ago, before moving out of my parents place). On a console, I plug it in, and usually the only things I change are brightness and sensitivity (not that there is much else to change). "Time" to me also means free time. Depending on what game I am playing (my GF likes watching particular games), what my and my GF's work schedules are like (I get a lot of time when our schedules are out of sync, but less when we work similar hours because I like spending time with her) and just general allocation of time for daily activities and chores (living without one's parents requires more time investment in the household), game time can sometimes evade me for days. And there is the always-changing interests I have. One minute I want to play an action-adventure, the next a racing game, next, a JRPG. For example, I recently replayed ACII, then bought and beat Brotherhood, then went back to Forza 3, and now am playing Chrono Cross... which has further inspired me to get, and revisit Final Fantasy X. But Arkham City is out on Tuesday, and it is a game my GF desperately wants us to get (she put a full pre-order down on it over a month ago)... so when I'm alone I'll be playing FFX, and when the GF is home, I'll be playing BAC. I'm not sure where you are in your life, but if you have the free time to devote to PC gaming, then good, take advantage of it. I personally am changing as a gamer, and am finding gaming on a PC less and less appealing.

Ah ok man , i see.

@ NoodleFighter,

Did you not see the, (This is a joke)? You are trying to correct me and I was joking. I didn`t even hide it. I said, This is a joke . Where is the confusion coming from? And are the optimal settings always the best, or is it what the game thinks could be the best? Not to mention I wasn`t just talking about that. When I said "tweaking settings" I also meant all the parts and upgrades you need every few months. Not to mention working around DRM.

What did you expect me to do? Oh, you picked one thing in my list of issues and found a nonexistent problem with it. I will go out and buy a PC now. The question was, "Console gamers, why do you prefer console gaming over PC gaming?" Not, "PC gamers, come try to convert the lowly console gamers." I shouldn`t have to explain every detail of an opinion. When I took other peoples post and explained my side, it was to answer a question or clear something up. You are just trying to say I am wrong, when I am not.

[QUOTE="NoodleFighter"]

[QUOTE="ianuilliam"]That looks pretty cool and all. If you want to impress me, show me a $200-250 pc at today's prices that can run modern games, or a $400-$600 pc from 2005-6 that can still run all the games released for the platform

ianuilliam

:P this about double of $200-250 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afKIBJ3zC7M&feature=related

Didn't watch the video, but $480? Again, not impressed that you can get a pc that costs as much now as a 360 or PS3 did in 2005-6, or 2 times what they cost now. That doesn't really dispel the idea that unless you specifically want pc exclusives, consoles are the better value.

My main reason for not playing much on the PC? I write code all day, don't really want to get back in front of a PC at the end of the day.

None of the above. These are my main reasons.

1.Most of my real life friends play on console.

2. Most of my virtual friends play on console

3. I sit at a computer all day at work, I like my gaming time on my TV (please don't start with the hook your comp to TV stuff)

4. Most importantly the games.

5. Lots of games I play are better to play in real life with people on console then on a computer (Fighting, Boxing, Sports, etc).

In order of importance

1. The games, for the price of a gaming PC i get xbox 360+PS3+Wii and all games from PC i want are on xbox 360, like Witcher 2 etc and 3x more games than i would play if i only had a PC, plus the best games i want like Dark Souls, Fable, Zelda series, JRPGs etc that are not on PC

2. Gameplay, i love pad analog controls and hate to play with keyboard and mouse

3. Ease of use, no installs, no new windows needed, no driver problems, settings configuration, native pad controls for all games, fit perfectly in the living room and i dont have to use a mouse/keyboard in my sofa and huge HDTV

4. Price and rents, i only buy the games i want for my collection and rent everything else, while on PC i would have to buy everything and spend infinitly more cash on games, for 90% of games i pay only 2 euros, than 50 euro it would cost me on PC, the difference is vast, i save thousands of euros every year with consoles

The main reason for me is that I choose not to constantly sink money into a machine for gaming. Every few months games get released that require more power, and I got tired of having to deal with that crap.

I prefer to play with a controller, which may be possible on PC but I also like the ease of use with a console. I put the game in, pick up my controller, and get going.

What does that even mean? Installs are not necessary on consoles.

I've never played a game that required any mandatory install. Mandatory updates maybe, but not installs.

First of all, LOL @ Fable being one of the best game. Handshake is really groundbreaking gameplay mechanics.

The fact that you brought up saving thousands of euros with consoles makes me believe you are either trolling or being ignorant to PC games. I've never seen PC games upwards of 50 euros while the console counterparts are 60. PC games are mostly in 35 - 45 range.

No kidding right? Now we might probably need to make PhD's mandatory to use PC.

My 6 year old cousin installs game easily on PC, makes me wonder about these radical claims from some consolites on SW.

I dunno... if I didn't have any system at all, for what I'd pay for a pc that can play every game on the spreadsheet with decent settings/performance, I could buy a Wii, PS3, and 360... which would beat the pc library on the spreadsheet...

IMHO, the PC spreadsheet is kind of a joke anyway. Ports of XBLA/PSN games get counted alongside full games on PC. Expansion (non-stand-alone) packs get counted with the same weight as full games... I'm surprised Facebook apps aren't counted on the spreadsheet for PC too, to be honest...

ianuilliam

Just count the xbla/psn games when counting xbox/ps3 games. I don't know why they put the games in different categories, but they're still there.

And yeah PC is more expensive, but the games are way cheaper. I have like 70 pc games and I've payed about $200-$250 for all of them. Most were released this gen.

Since when 8.9/10 games are not great ? Fable is one of my favourite series, even though it does have a decline, like all series anyway

Where i live, PC games at launch cost 50 euro, renting them is only 2 euros on consoles

Do the math, i save 48 euro on every game and still get to play them at launch

I usually play more than 30 games per year by rent, which means i save at the very least 30x48 = 1440 euros, which could be far more in a busy year
