No kidding right? Now we might probably need to make PhD's mandatory to use PC.
My 6 year old cousin installs game easily on PC, makes me wonder about these radical claims from some consolites on SW.
I never really thought installs on PC's were terrible or difficult, but they can be time consuming and more than once I wouldn't be able to play because of some error or issue with my computer/operating system/video card/who knows what else.
I didn't know some PS3 games required installs, but I do enjoy putting a game into the 360 and playing it within a few seconds.

In order of importance
1. The games, for the price of a gaming PC i get xbox 360+PS3+Wii and all games from PC i want are on xbox 360, like Witcher 2 etc and 3x more games than i would play if i only had a PC, plus the best games i want like Dark Souls, Fable, Zelda series, JRPGs etc that are not on PC
2. Gameplay, i love pad analog controls and hate to play with keyboard and mouse
3. Ease of use, no installs, no new windows needed, no driver problems, settings configuration, native pad controls for all games, fit perfectly in the living room and i dont have to use a mouse/keyboard in my sofa and huge HDTV
4. Price and rents, i only buy the games i want for my collection and rent everything else, while on PC i would have to buy everything and spend infinitly more cash on games, for 90% of games i pay only 2 euros, than 50 euro it would cost me on PC, the difference is vast, i save thousands of euros every year with consoles
loosingENDS
First of all, LOL @ Fable being one of the best game. Handshake is really groundbreaking gameplay mechanics.
The fact that you brought up saving thousands of euros with consoles makes me believe you are either trolling or being ignorant to PC games. I've never seen PC games upwards of 50 euros while the console counterparts are 60. PC games are mostly in 35 - 45 range.
Since when 8.9/10 games are not great ? Fable is one of my favourite series, even though it does have a decline, like all series anyway
Where i live, PC games at launch cost 50 euro, renting them is only 2 euros on consoles
Do the math, i save 48 euro on every game and still get to play them at launch
I usually play more than 30 games per year by rent, which means i save at the very least 30x48 = 1440 euros, which could be far more in a busy year
Uhhhh uhmmmm you can rent pc games

Yes, and 1920x1080 is the native resolution.
I would love to play PC counterparts of multi-plats in 1080p, 60fps, and with 8x MSSA. But my PC would blow up trying to run the latest games, so I stick to consoles.

Well I was just saying, didn't you pay more to play the games in HD? Don't worry though I fully understand what you mean, was just pointing that out. Personally I think I should have taken a weaker PC and bought a 360 instead of going this high end, but that's just me.

The installs on PC are quickest if you compare it with consoles. There can be driver issues yeah, but it hardly takes time to fix unless the game is broken. I've been gaming on PC for over 15 years but my cousin has consoles (both 360 and PS3), when I ask him why not just buy a PC he says he prefers consoles. Waiting for Steam games to download (which can take hours depending on the size of the game) or even retail PC games can take longer than the console installs.
Didn't watch the video, but $480? Again, not impressed that you can get a pc that costs as much now as a 360 or PS3 did in 2005-6, or 2 times what they cost now. That doesn't really dispel the idea that unless you specifically want pc exclusives, consoles are the better value.(snipped big huge chart)I'm not sure what you wanted to show with this chart. I'll admit, I only glanced at it, it was too big to view without being a huge pain. As far as I can tell, the low end pc on here was almost 300... without including the OS... and I'm guessing it doesn't run modern games worth a dang...[QUOTE="ianuilliam"]

I use both, but I enjoy console gaming for:
- The games
- Ease of use
Those are probably my only reasons, however I don't really prefer one over the other.
lundy86_4
I would also add, the abundent addition of local multiplayer in the experience..
I fall under a few of those options. I don't like configuring graphics settings. I don't like it when there are hardware driver issues. I don't like having to install...and it bugs me that console games do this now pretty much standard. I have never had an issue with a console game freezing, crashing, or if I had it is so rare I can't recall, but I've had numerous problems with PC crashing. I'm on a PC all day at work and usually don't want to spend more time on a PC after work. I don't like that I meet the requirements to run a PC game, but still only have medium to low settings and need MUCH more hardware power to max the game out and see it as developers inteded it to be seen. No such problem exists on console as pretty much every has HDTVs now and console games have set hardware.
I also find games that I usually play, action adventure games, just work and play better on consoles.
I don't HATE PC gaming, but with my limited gaming time and finances, I vastly prefer playing console games and would be better of spending money on console games. When it comes to PC gaming, I like the smaller, cheaper games like much of what comes out in the Humble INdie Bundles. I like games like civilization but doubt my computer will be able to run the latest insallment. And I love me some Starcraft 2, which I play on the lowest settings and still have some issues at times.
[QUOTE="Bread_or_Decide"]I prefer console gaming so I don't ever have to wonder: "Will I be playing this game as the devs intended or do I need to buy a new graphics card to do that?"GD1551

No I don't want to do that.... So laziness is the reason? Its the ease of use and how far console gaming has improved in the last 10 years. There are games and experiences on consoles with no equal on PC. I can relax, sit on my couch in front of a 42" LED, and play a game without being locked into a keyboard and mouse. PC graphics are still better if you spend the money, but console graphics have in general caught up. I will PC game still, but it just isnt the same thrill anymore. Especially when you have long time PC series like Battlefield selling out to consolization. BF3 may look better on a new PC with 64 players, but its not so good over the console version that I feel the need to buy a new PC for it (which is exactly what I would have to do).-ArchAngeL-777-
BF3 isn't consolized and you can game on the couch with a controller with a PC, before you talk about controller support being scarce care for me to name a "few" games with controller support.

Oh really? How much research is done when buying games for a console to verify it is going to work. I will give you a hint, starts with N and ends in ONE.
Mainly because of Mario, Zelda, Halo, Metal Gear Solid and a bunch of other console only franchises.

Can I just point out he said "How the devs intended". Being able to play on minimum spec is not how they intended. It's just the bare minium you need to know that the game will run on your machine.
I have a simiar feeling. I just don't want to be able to run the games, I want to be able to run them at least on medium and up.
[QUOTE="lawlessx"][QUOTE="lowe0"]Two reasons: 1. No matter how good a job I do of configuring and maintaining my PC, I don't have any confidence that games will work out of the box. There are too many unknowns, whereas with my consoles, I open each game with absolute certainty that I can put the disc in and play. Software should work the first time, right out of the box - that's the standard I hold myself to when I write code. Secondly, I just don't find the PC community to be enjoyable to play with. They're judgmental in a way that I never have to deal with on consoles. Even though I keep my mouth shut unless I have something game-relevant to say, joining a PC server is an altogether unpleasant experience.lowe0Sounds like you're joining the wrong types of servers if you're running into that type of problem. It's the community as a whole, not a single server. Thats how we look at you guys. I don't ever talk to people on pc servers that arent' my friends because either people don't talk on open voip servers on computer or the join a private chat using a third party software. When ever i join a console game server i'm bombarded with 12 year olds calling me the n word f word or just simply cheesing like crazy and spawn killing me. Pc servers don't allow this you'll be kicked and banned within 5 minutes. you're outlook on the pc community is based on SW and that's not okay because 80% of us are constantly defending ourselves from your community downplaying our platform or choice or making outlandish claims. Only probably 10% of the gaming community as a whole participates in open online forums.

here we go again...
A 8800GTX (from 2006 that is older than ps3) or equivalent card that cost $50 now, play any game better than consoles.
Ok. You're right. You could get an 8800gtx in 2006. For $599. And you could get a Core 2 Duo @ 2 GHz (listed as MINIMUM req to run Crysis 2) in 2006 for what, $300? Add in another few hundred for case, PSU, MOBO, disc drive, HDD, and an OS, and you're talking what, a $1500 pc? So when you said "even if you have a pc from 2006 you already know that it will play any game better than consoles," what you meant was "if you have the absolute best pc available from 2006, which cost at the time about three times consoles launch prices, you already know that it will play any game better than consoles." In that case, yes. But what you actually said is a lie, as many people with pcs from 2006, even gaming rigs from 2006, are NOT able to play every pc game out today. Please Log In to post.
