I voted for SNES, not sure if my favourite, but it represent my childhood.
I voted N64 so everyone could tell me I am 10 years old as I didn't vote for SNES.
I don't know if I could say N64 even if I want to sometimes. It has the best versions of many games. Ocarina, Majora's Mask, Mario Kart, Pilotwings, Fzero, Mario Party, Mario 64.....I really like Mario Kart 64 because it is so unforgiving. There's bigger risk/reward than any other entry in the series.
Had a tough time between gamecube and n64, but chose GC since I feel it had a lot of quality games, surprised wii u is pulling the same numbers as n64

It was definitely the WOW era for Nintendo where the games were technically impressive and just plain fantastic. Of course the SNES has so many classics it's hard to argue with its rightful place at the top but I loved the N64, the Gamecube too.
I will always stand by the Gamecube, I think it's the best multiplayer console, and has such a great and diverse library- incredible games in every genre, although I will admit I've played a lot more Gamecube games than SNES.
SNES has my favorite game though- LLTP.

There's a lot of junk and mediocre stuff on most consoles. I find that the truly great games are in the minority, on any system. SNES had a lot of greats, but I'd argue that the NES had even more.
But yes, N64 was the console that brought that new feeling to many people, again. It was the Star Destroyer moment of the games industry.
@GameSpot: @GameSpot: no love for N64? Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Donkey Kong 64, Starfox 64, Super Smash Bros, Paper Mario, Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask? There's still plenty on it I could name. Last console Nintendo made that was considered the best of its generation.
Seriously who is voting for the original Wii and why?
It's got a lot of good, unique games and it doubles as a gamecube. Better than an actual gamecube because it's a bitch to find component cables for that thing. That's why I chose it.
Its exclusives were far better than the competition.
It took me some time to decide between the SNES, the N64 and the Wii U.... both have tons of amazing games.... more the formers than the latter.
But N64 had the greatest games for me, even greater than the SNES ones, so.... 64 wins.
Anyone who did not vote for the original NES is due to the fact you are all a bunch of thumb sucking babies who were not old enough to enjoy that machine to its full potential.
That is exactly what I'm thinking as well. There is no reason why the original Wii should be beating one of the most important video game consoles of all time.
@GameSpot: Even if i beleive SNES should be the one , personally i really like Gamecube.
It had all the classic AAA 1st party titles plus amazing 3rd party exclusives/time exclusives that even today are viable to play and have fun with ( RE4/RE remake to name few ).
I started the Nintendo Fangrrl life with a NES, followed along until the Wii. Gotta go for the SNES for my fave system, simply because it has most of my favorite cartridge based nostalgia games on it. That and the thing was a durable piece of hardware! Drop it while moving systems around? No prob. Get a little too 'into' the whole controller 'you jump further if you swing the controller as you push the button' mentality and yank the SNES across the floor? Meh. Plug back in and play some more.
Now a group of friends and I did test out how durable a GameCube was the day after it was used in an RPG (dice, not mice or controllers) as an impromptu weapon. One pawn shop purchase, a sidewalk outside, and taking the 'broken' machine home to see if it would still play. It did. :-D
If I wanted to play games on a tablet, I'd get a tablet, not a Wii-U. And I sold my Wii to a family member when I realized how discriminatory the Wiimote and nunchuck setup was for lefties. I had to pare down for a while the number of systems I owned, the one from this list I eventually plan to replace would be the N64, as I kept the SNES and GameCube.
I voted Wii. It was a paradigm shifting console and I had the most fun, especially playing with friends. The controller being able to turn and become NES brought nice familiarity as did the Virtual Console. You had tons of great games, but admittedly, it lack multiplatform support because of the lack of horsepower.
When I think about the party feel, the lightgun games, balance board, exclusives like Wii Sports and Super Mario Galaxy. Wii is my favorite.
Tough call, SNES has Super Metroid, Link to the Past and Chrono Trigger, N64 has Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time, and GameCube had Metroid Prime and Twilight Princess
I think N64 wins for MM
The Wii. I was going to say GameCube, but then I remembered that I can play GameCube games on my Wii. And, in addition, I can play games for the Wii, NES, SNES, and N64.
EDIT: Oh, and Genesis games too.
Seriously who is voting for the original Wii and why?
Because, in addition to an actually solid library, it's backwards compatible with GameCube games, which was my favorite era. Also, the Virtual Console.
lol is this a joke? there is only one right answer. anyone who doesn't vote SNES is probably 10 years old.
how does that comment make any sense at all? A 10 year old would only know the current lineup..UNLESS they have a parent or friend that has older systems. SO..while you are trying to belittle others and make strange comments...I will say the original NES is the better NIN system.BUT better is all in the eye of the beholder. Its subjective..
Gamecube, though it was a really tough choice between it and the SNES. I played the hell out of my Gamecube. It got more use than any other Nintendo system I've owned.
this thread isnt about best. it's about favorites. my favorite is gc with the wii close (almost tied) 2nd.
Why isn't Gamecube winning? It's clearly the best system there.
Because it's not the SNES, that's why.
@GameSpot: SNES. Simply put, the controller was a buttery smooth design at a time when controllers were struggling to find the right amount of buttons and Nintendo hit it perfectly.
Snes was the time they got it all right. The last time they didn't dick about with something (save for some of the handhelds). No gimmicky controllers, no cheaping out, just a pure, amazing gaming machine with kick arse games across all the genres. Great RPGs, great shooters, great platformers, great action.
Super Nintendo. I mean really, that's all that needs to be said.
It was Nintendo is God Mode. The combination of impressive hardware and developers.
