Popular Science Predicts PS3 Lead By 2010

In a short little blurb of predictions by popular science magazine, it is predicted that the Playstation 3 will outsell the Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360 by the end of 2009.

I read through the article, and I have to disagree with the writer.

The main reason he/she seems to think that the ps3 will win is that it has the strongest 3rd party support, which I believe it will be unable to capitalize on this gen. Becouse of game development price, and lack of sales, support will, and already has, largely shifted away from the system, and I think that trend will continue.

Sony already said that they will lauch the PS4 by then. No I am not jokeing they said that they will start the PS4 in 2010.

I don't get this.

Analysts have screamed "PS3 will win" ever since it was annouced there would be a PS3. (That's a long time ago).
Okay, even a moron would believe PS3 to win just by looking at PS2's number of sold units compared to it's competitors.

But guess what, many things have happened since the announcement of PS3.
Most of them have been bad news for either SONY as a company, or PS3 as a console.
When will analysts learn that PS3 is in no way guarranteed victory just because PS2 won?

Just look at Nintendo 64 for proof that no company is ever guarranteed dominance. haols

I know these guys really have no way of knowing anything for sure, but it is their job, so it´s only normal for them to have a better understanding then we do, and just like you said, every single analysyt has said the ps3 will end up on top. What that only cows believe analysts? Just remember, analysts said that Al Gore and Jokn Kerry would be president. Analysts said that Tomorrow Never Dies would make more money then Titanic. Analysts said the Pistons would win the NBA title this year, the Tigers would win the World Series last year and that the Colts would never win a Superbowl, should I go on?

They could put out a new console, while the 360 continues to sell. It would be no different than what the PS1 did all of those years after the PS2 launched and what the PS2 is doing right now, after the PS3 launched.

2010 is far away and this gen would be warping up. They may be using 3rd party support to tell the PS3 will win; however the PS3 sales are not doing well, and could start losing that support.

They also said we would all own flying cars by 1986.

I really hate to think of how flying cars will be like. A good amout of people on the road shouldn't be driving a car. I would hate to see them behind the controls of a flying car.
