[QUOTE="Burning_Sun"][QUOTE="CB4McGusto"]

I've never played Resident Evil 4 and I found the gameplay in RE5 to be very disapointing.

  • Why can't I shoot and run at the same time?
  • Why do I have to go into an inventory screen that pauses me but not the game just to reload? The dpad buttons only allow me to switch weapons and health, but not ammo. WTF? Not only that, but when I go into the inventory screen for a second I get raped by zombies. WTF why do I even need an inventory screen, this ain't no damn RPG and this ain't 1995 CAPCOM!!!!!!!
  • Why can't I reload? I go into the inventory screen and select the ammo for my handgun, but I get no option to use, just to either give to my partner or combine. I often found myself running around with ammo that I can't put in my gun.
  • Ammo, health, gold, etc. is all hidden within barrels, fruit, or dead zombies that melt into the ground.:| Nice realistic feel to the game, WTF those goofy japanese and their fantasy BS!
  • Why am I so dependent on my partner? The only thing she does is heal me, she never gives me ammo which I have but cant use! Not only that but stopping to help her everytime she get's hurt is a pain in the @$$. Hell atleast in Gears all you'd have to do is clear the area of enemies if Dom was down, but noooooooo in this dumb game if your partner dies the mission is over.
  • Why can't I dodge enemy attacks? Where's the button prompt to dodge? I can stomp, kick, uppercut, punch, but can't dodge. :|
Eyezonmii
Um, reloading is left trigger and A (aim and the Run button) lol, wth are you on about? the quick invetory is much better and ads to the tension of needing to be quick and knowing when to swap give ammo, etc. You can also set what ever ammo you lik to what ever button. REALOADING A GUN IS ( LEFT TRIGGER AND A BUTTON...so aim and press the A button) this isn't gears of war, but resident evil....in real-life people run and avoid, they don't dive, backflip and bounce all over the place ALA gears of war.

In real life, people don't fight hordes of infected Africans, either.

I wouldn't know, M$ wont let you play it unless you give them money and Im not gonna pay for Xbox Live just to play a demo i can play for free in a week on my PS3unknown37

Just create another profile on your 360, sign up to Live and you will get a free month of gold. You can have up to 5 gamer profiles on your 360, and you will get a free month of gold with each one. Just found this out today myself, and I got the demo.

I hated it. Having to monitor Sheva's health and ammo is a feature that crushes any possibility of fun. It also doesn't help that the weapon changing is the worst I've ever seen. It takes forever to select something, and when you finally find what you were looking for, you're already dead. Dead Space's weapon switching was fine; it's an example of how it's done right.

well if you come in playing it, thinking its gears of war or a typical military shooter, you will be disappointed...its a action/horror meant to keep the tension. Having to worry about your partner ads to the anxiety...and works well.

I didn't do that. RE4 is a game I'm very familiar with, and I know that it's different from a shooter. RE5 is just a commercialized version of RE4.

I didn't too much like the demo. The gameplay feels a bit outdated. I don't like the fact that you can't shoot and run and the inventory is a bit of a destraction during gameplay.

LOL, what? just read properly, don't skim it through and just see "realistic RE5 together in one line" and then reply.

"this isn't gears of war, but resident evil....in real-life people run and avoid, they don't dive, backflip and bounce all over the place ALA gears of war. " Yeah, you most definitely said "in real life." You said it's Resident Evil, and that people don't do that nonsense in real life, and that's why it isn't in Resident Evil... That's the way it came out to me. Sorry for the run-on sentence, but I am too lazy to reword it.

Jim Sterling over at Destructoid sums up my feelings in a nutshell, and says many of the things I said myself previously. Here is a write up he has done against all of the hatred and complaints, entitled, 'RE5-What's bloody problem?' Good little read, check it out:

I thought they got rid of that when they released the new xbox experience? My brother got an xbox and it would not let him get the free 30 days of live.

Well, I sure did it today with no problem. I only had one profile, until I found out today that you could do it. Sure enough, after I selected that I did not want to buy a gold package, I was prompted that I was eligible for a free month of gold. Don't know what to tell you, bud. Worked for me fine.

short...

controls are a bit clunky but then it wouldnt be RE if it didnt have clunky controls lol. The action is intense and fun, but from the demo it seems besides the limited guns and in game item menu thing there has been absolutely no change since RE4 in gameplay. The ai sidekick goes freaking rambo and chews through bullets and items (i had to replenish her ammo before the infected even busted into the house). Graphics are pretty too

Overall: its resident evil and its awesome. Would buy day one but i am completely out of cash for games so i probably wont pick this up till mid summer along with Killzone 2.

Like I said earlier in past threads, Resident Evil's new controls are starting to already show their age. They still work, but are hardly as intuitive as they were five years ago.

P.S. if this demo is anything to go by, P2P would kill this game for me, I'm always getting diconnected like fiive minutes in. I'd say I'm leaning towards the PS3 version right now for the better D-Pad to make switching items that much easier, and hopefully more stable online.

Its crap. Totally butchering the last remnants of what was known as the RE series to appeal to the blood and gore Gears of war kind of casual crowd.

I honestly thought the demo was pretty bad. Maybe I missed something, because I never played RE4, but the controls and gameplay seem both dated and unnecessarily cumbersome. While it is supposed to be a survival horror game, there is a problem with the core gameplay mechanics if the majority of the "horror" is generated by a poor control scheme. I was actually really looking forward to this game, but after playing the demo, I don't think I'll be picking it up.

The gameplay is noticeabley streamlined, but still purposefully clunky in the glorious vein of the Resident Evil series. I really enjoyed it and I believe it has some promise, but the levels featured in the demo are kind of like deja vu with a new coat of paint. The enemies are all very similar to the ones in RE4 but with new character models...I'm hoping the enemies are more varied and surprising later in the game.

I loved it. Amazing graphics (second to only KZ2 :P), tense gameplay, and superbly designed around co-op. It's best with a friend, though the split-screen function is nice. Probably the best I've seen in its iteration. I'm waiting for the PSN demo to compare the two.

Man, online is the killer for me. I'm not renewing my Live subscription, and even though the split-screen is cool, there are some slow-downs. Plus the DS3's d-pad is a plus. I'm eager to test it out on the controller though.

They designed the controls this way on purpose. Resident Evil 4 and 5 use a more strategic hit zone system so you can decide where to shoot your opponent inside of randomly firing. If you were able to move and aim, no one would use this gameplay mechanic.

easiest RE i've ever played thank to fruit ammo / grenades. ridiculously easy compared to 4, will not buy unless i see extra difficutly modes i don't have to unlock for retail.

i don't buy survival horror to walk through it with enough ammo to fire crazily in to the sky at the end, i expect a challenge. i expect to feel tense / frightened.. but the only time i feel that is when i struggle with the stupid controls.

overall, not impressed... but will wait for full reviews as this is just 2 levels. hopefully the weakest in the game.
