That's whats so good about Vegas, is that it skips all of the unnecesary crap and digs down to good, clean tactical action. You need to take recon by snaking doors, you need to prioritize targets, you need to breach, flash or frag enemies, you need you smash through windows. Vegas is great at putting you in intense tactical missions like "clear the entire Hotel" and "battle your way through a Dam", not the situations as seen in older Rainbow games. The game is broader and far more appealing to fans of shooters in general, while retaining a great sense of playing as an Elite Counterterrorist force.

Straight from the GS review:

"What elevates this chapter of Rainbow Six is the cutthroat tactical combat, which is far above anything seen in the series. The combat elevates the action for shooters in general, but Rainbow Six Vegas happens to arrive on the heels of the superb Gears of War, and it's eerie just how similar the combat systems in both games are. It's hard to say that one cribbed from the other, since both games were in development at the same time, but it's easy to get the feeling that the maturation of tactical combat is an idea whose time has finally come, and the result is a lot of intense action as you scramble for cover from all the bullets headed your way."

Maybe you were getting the wrong idea of what a tactical game should be from playing the older Rainbow games, because GS agrees with me, that Vegas is easily the best.

Uncle_Uzi

Ugh this is too much.

The missions in the REAL Rainbow Six games involved bloody tactics. Sweet jesus you try and make the stuff you are saying about Vegas as 'deep' tactics - its laughable in comparison.

It doesent 'cut out the uncessary crap' - instead it cuts out pretty much EVERYTHING that made the original series so great, and focuses primariy on the ACTION - as in running down corridoors, hiding behind walls shooting people.

And of course "The game is broader and far more appealing to fans of shooters in general" because its a freaking arcade SHOOTER.

And rather than qouting someone elses review, why dont you play the REAL Raibow Six games for yourself and see how wrong you are.

For all we know the reviewer is comparing R6 Vegas - to the Xbox version of Rainbow 6 3, and lockdown- which of course like Vegas was NOTHING like the Real R6 games, and seems more like the sucessor to Vegas.

Just go PLAY the real Rainbow Six games.

I mean you are still basing your opinion on an unimformed argument.

I have played every bloody Rainbow Six game since the first in 98' - console titles and PC expansions included, and it happens to be one of most favourite game series.

It seems we're missing the point of this thread.

It's that Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 will do what CoD4 does better. End of story. Call it what you want (I will still belive that Vegas is very tactical, same is possible in CoD4), Vegas and CoD4 are in the same genre.

And this is also true: Vegas 2 will be superior to CoD4, mark my words.

I just watched videos for this game and it looks less tactical than the first one...looks more action oriented maybe its just me. The new outfit for your guy is rather ridiculous looking too if you ask me

I loved Vegas. :D Here's hoping they can justify the purchase and not just rush out an expansion pack with a full retail price. I'm looking at you GRAW2.

Well we will have to see when Vegas comes out how it compares to COD4 mp....

As for Vegas being 'very' tactical - well if it is in your own eyesfair enough - I cant go around forcing your opinion to be otheriws.

However COD4 and Vegas are very different styles of arcade shooter. Im guesing you are comparing the MP...

Two completely differenrt styled games, and frankly COD4 is more appealing to the masses. Learn more about your games.

HoldThePhone

HAHAHA

This is probably the most justifiable comparison of games in the history of man. These two games are in precisely the same genre. YOU sir need to learn more about your games. 8)

Same genre yes, but completly differnt from eachother.

Explain to me how they are the same, because i dont feel like wasting my time on you.

yes very different games indeed, but I love rainbow so much more. at least in Rainbow, you can actually work out a plan in Rainbow. you and a backup can go from room to room, planning ways to enter a room and clear it and still have some time to do it, problem I have with COD is that the most strategy you will use is " Radar please" then "here comes and air strike" boom! repeat.

Damn you burn in hell! maybe you are playing with the wrong people? oh man dude, when you play rainbow with a crew of players that play right and communicate, I don't think any other game compares.

if you ever want to do some Terrorist hunt and have a good time, send me a friends request, if you have a 360 that is. LEGEND C4A.

of course I will never defend RS: Lockdown, I took that game right back to the store the next day, that one was an attempt to get the COD type crowd and It just made the game pure crap, so happy that game didn't do well. after that they went back to the more traditional RS, not really like the PC version but better than crapdown!

You crack me up.

A) if you don't feel like wasting your precious time, then why did you even post?

B) They are both realistic tactical shooters. They both have real-world weapons, and they both play realisticly. They both have class-based MP, and they are both set in present day. There are many more similar features and characteristics between the two series, far more than I feel like listing.

But yes, there you go. I doubt you've played both - like I have. Because if you did, then you'd wish you never asked.

I like COD but I don't really would call it a realistic version of warfare. don't know about people running around like chickens without heads as realistic. lol.

I think that game is great, but I honestly feel that maybe a few months from now, people will move on to the new flavor of the month, and people are happy that it beat out Halo3 online, but 2 years from now, people will still be playing Halo3, hell people still play Halo2 yikes!

I feel very decieved. Call of Duty was passed off as GOTY by most, meanwhile it is an imcomplete game with no innovation at all. I wasted my money, which I could have spent on this or Bad Company.

Vegas and CoD2 were equals imo. Though Vegas was more tactical and CoD only has a few tactical elments due to it being a "War Game" where you are pretty much gauranteed to die. KD ratios go extremely high for RSV vets compared to the head honchos on CoD.

was a huge fan of rsv. i spent most of the time playing the game during late 06 until midway of 07. i say it revived the franchise that has been dying over the years by aiming mostly at a new audience while maintaining some of the older fans. RSV has some tactical elements, but it isnt as tactical as the older RS games.

as much as i enjoyed playing RSV from team and co-op games for some reason im not that interested in rsv2, but i know im going to end up getting it so i can play with my friends along with few ppl that i know on xbl.

A) No, there is a difference between Strategy and Tactics.

.

Uncle_Uzi
Indeed, but you don't seem to understand the diffrence. There was hardly any strategy in RainbowSix, it was all tactics

You can't really compare CoD and R6....two totally different shooters with two totally different philosophies and gameplay focuses. It's like comparing chicken to beef. They're both meat, but worlds apart.

idk why peopel like it so much

i have it and i always own in it no matter wat the frekaing game is too easYYYY

the best online shooters are the socom franchise

MrGrimFandango

Socom is a joke on its best day, CS destroys that terrible game, online, all day long.

Socom 2 was my favorite online game last gen. It and FFXI.

That's what made the game. It's called a cover system.

Isn't Halo back on top now? :?SSCyborg

I would imagine it's jumping back and forth. It probably will be when Rainbow Six comes out because that will probably attract more CoD fans than Halo fans.
