So as we've come to expect, both companies produce some of the best pre rendered cutscenes in the business, but who do you prefer?

Special mention goes to Oddworld Inhabitants too.

Blizzard

Warcraft 3

Starcraft 2

Squaresoft / Enix

Final Fantasy 8

Final Fantasy 13 (possible spoilers but it's in japanese)

I'm not the biggest Final Fantasy fan--I find 7 to be extremely flawed--but if there is one thing that Squaresoft has always excelled at, it was the prerendered animation. IMO, they are a step ahead of everybody else. The animation, music, art direction, and choreography should more be compared to groups like Pixar than other game companies.

FFXIII on the PS3 has the the best cut scenes i have ever seen. and its pretty amazing that they re-rendered them to match the english voices.

Blizzard with out a doubt. The Wrath of the Lich King trailer in particular is incredibly impressive, their modelers and animators really are must have some pretty amazing skills.

And they still look good. Squaresoft work well within the confines of the current rendering standard. They understand the limits and what/what not to cover up based on the technology they are working with. Other companies, imo, rely far too much on what the current best this or that is. "oh, a new transparancy effect is out--this will blow peoples minds."

I think I prefer the quirkiness of those Blizzard cutscenes, but Final Fantasy can't be beaten for pure spectacle.

Blizzard, simply because they put them to better use. Some of the overly dramatic scenes in FF13 were a bit much, but some of them were awesome though.

Square Enix.. because some of their games consist of prerendered cutscenes only while blizzard games are always all about the coregameplay and the cutscenes are peripheral

Square is good, but when it comes to CG, Blizzard takes the cake.

Yeah pretty much, they also do wayyyy more cutscenes in a game than blizzard, blizzard only has to make like 1 or 2 epic CGIs, square might have to make like a dozen.

im sorry but voting blizzard?

FF13 and FFX look better then anything blizzard has done (keep in mind FFX came out in 2001)

besides, blizzard rip off too much content from warhammer and warhammer 40k, orcs and trolls this orcs and trolls that, square comes up with new ideas everytime. (well they use to)

They did more than 2... do your research. And I'll be damned if any of them weren't epic when they came out.

Ignoring Blizzard when it comes to CGI is a slap in the face to be honest. It's easily onpar with SE, if it doesn't have the same grandeur.

Both are amazing seriously I give a little edge to Square due to the choreography they produce it's amazing. Plus The Spirts withing although a flop as a movie is one of the most realistic CG movies out there.

Talking out the ass much? Blizzard is probably the only game company that has been able to top the CGscene Square has created over the years. BTW Blizzard's fantasy style has nothing to do with how well their cg scene even look.

Blizzard.. It feels far more realistic.. Guns in final fantasy games feel like peashooters where it seems to be similar to things like what you would see on saturday morning cartoons.. Make alot of noise, and colors.. But hardly hurts or kills anything.. Furthermore the environments in most FF games cutscenes are entirely too clean and sterile.

Blizzard ones have more styIe and atmosphere. Square's human character design is worse than Blizzards, and their monsters are creative but don't feel as part of one world like Blizzards do.

Very personal though, as both rawk.

I don't know if these are the "best", but the cut-scenes in halo wars are nothing to scoff at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWaf8CVS6cg watch it in HD if you can, the SD version looks really pixelated.

And between those cutscenes that I saw in this thread, the Starcraft II scene impressed me the most, so I'll go with blizzard as being the best, even though I havn't really seen many cutscenes from either company.

There are a lot of great cutscenes in WC3, but this one came to mind when I saw this thread.

Ok, you people voting, do you even bother to watch the cut-scenes of both companies? Anyone saying either company 'easily' wins doesn't know ****.
