Proof that Gametrailers lied through their teeth

Back when Crysis came out Gametrailers said they spent "$5000 upgrading their PC and it still couldn't run Crysis on High"

Any Hermit who had Crysis knew GT was either incompetent or lying.

Well... now the truth comes out.

Notice something wrong with GT's videos?

They don't have shadows. None at all. If GT thinks they can get away with lying through their teeth and making stuff up to lower scores on a game then they have another thing coming.

And to Lemmings/Cows who argued with me about it, THIS is why I said GT is complete **** for PC reviews. They clearly don't give a **** about the PC and lying to the PC users on their website doesn't worry them at all.

yeah but their ONLY reason for lowering the score a full 1.2 points was because "It can't run on anything" despite the fact that they didn't even try.

Damn, what kind of rig is GameTrailer's running that gameplay from?:? It looks awful. They really have to upgrade their hardware. I love Assassin's Creed, so I'm pretty excited to play it on PC. I hope Ubisoft doesn't screw it up.BioShockOwnz

They said they upgrade for Crysis on two occassions. Once before it came out and they supposedly upgraded to an 8600 GT(which is crap and proves how dumb they are) and then supposedly(although I just proved they lied) they upgraded to a Core 2 Quad, 4 GB of RAM and an 8800 GTX. And even then "they could only run on medium"

yeah cause IGN, GS, Eurogamer and so many other places only do PC :roll:

I just don't deal with places that put the PC on a complete backburner and ignore EVERY game that comes out for it minus one or two. Meanwhile they review everything that comes onto consoles...

really... it isn't completely obvious comparing their screenshots to the ones that IGN took using their SECONDARY PC(first one had some bug that made the game not run on it) which had a 3.4 GHz Pentium 4 CPU, 512 MB Radeon X1900, and 2 GB of RAM that GT is WAY behind on the graphics.

And they specifically told everyone that they upgraded to top of the line for their Crysis review with an 8800, Quad Core and 4GB of RAM.

Clearly... GT lied.

unlike you wok. i play more than console games. i have a wii ds x360 high end pc. i have every console/handneld nintendo has made as well as xbox and ps1/2. i am far from biased. and the pc does indeed have higehr standards when it comes to reviews. even if they arent in HD amirite?

yeah whats with their rig? i can run crysis in very high and get very-very-very good framerate except for a few parts where its slowdown (i can deal with it cus its so pretty) but they struggle lesser games >_>

Probably, but what's that got to do with any of this? Some other review sites might editorialize, but it's a rare thing to see people outright lying about the type of system their using to discourage people from buying a game.

And those agendas usually have economic motives. GT probably rated this one badly because they don't like PC games. There's really no other explanation.

I have a couple questions.

When did GT say that they spent $5000 upgrading their PC to play Crysis? A link would be nice, but if you could even tell me where to look (one of their weekly shows, or a Crysis video, etc.), I'll try to find it myself.

Even if they did do a massive PC upgrade, what's to say that it's their only PC that they use or that they were even using their best rig to get the video they posted? Or that they weren't using an older build of the game than IGN had that didn't have shadows enabled? Or there wasn't a glitch with the different software they used for the capture that necessitated turning shadows off?

How do two videos of an unfinished game prove they don't have a top of the line PC?

it just goes to show PC gaming generally is lame. on consoles the game is judged not the hardware. PC gaming, so needs to die.r_gam3

The hardware in consoles isn't judged because it's unified and two years behind in technology.

The hardware is judged when it comes to the PC, because if you're a videogame website aiming to be all-encompassing and cover the PC as well, then you may want to make sure you have a rig that's up-to-date enough to be able to play Assassin's Creed with shadows "on".

It's the simple things.

IGN and IGN AU have been quoted saying the game runs really well and is well optimized.

IGN said they were able to max it with a X1900XT, Pentium 4 3.4 GHz and 2GB of RAM. Their CPU was below recommended specs and they still got playable framerates on the highest settings.

IGN AU said that it ran at a MUCH smoother framerate than the console versions, enough for it to be completely obvious.

I think it depends on what your definitions are for "high" or "max" settings. According to 1up, not even the newest graphics cards coming out are capable of running Crysis completely maxed out.

Yet if you listen to hermits here, they all say they have the 8800 GT and a $200 rig and claim they run Crysis on max.

So who do you believe?

Never heard any hermit here claiming they play Crysis on Ultra Settings at high res with a 8800GT. It just not doable atm. alot of poeple play on high to medium though.
