PS3 and X-box360 graphics are outdated!

Okay, am i the only one who thinks ps3/xbox 360 graphics are not impressive. Ive been pc gaming for a loong time(since voodoo 1 days and b4 den), and every1 is suddendly caught up in HD graphics. HELLO!!! PC gaming! its been around for many years. like back in 2000 you could get extreme resolutions. It is more expensive yeah, but the tech was available. So whats up with the grahpics wars btw xbox and ps3.

conclusion: Ps3/xbox360 graphics are outdated!!! PC is graphics king. PERIOD.

The only console game that comes close to PC games is gears 2. Even with that it suffers some serious framerate dips. Especially in the final chapter(not final stage for people nitpicking.. chapter)

EDIT: Gta 4 as well, but again it comes at a price.. framerate dips (worse on the 360 than the Ps3 though)

The only console game that comes close to PC games is gears 2. Even with that it suffers some serious framerate dips. Especially in the final chapter(not final stage for people nitpicking.. chapter)

EDIT: Gta 4 as well, but again it comes at a price.. framerate dips (worse on the 360 than the Ps3 though)

GTA 4 has an incredibly low resolution and small draw distance.

Gear 2 is nice, as is Uncharted, but I recon GT5 Demo is the best.

Who told you he is using a monitor rather than his big tv? Who told you he is using 2.1 speakers? Who told you he doesn't have a comfy chair? The last part makes even less sense, your TV and console cost money and that's what you have to pay for to game with people in the same room, how is it priceless? Even though I don't know why you console guys make a big deal about that since most console games focus on online.

Well yeah i agree, don't get me wrong, but i prefer what consoles have to offer over PCs sometimes.Like for example i finished dmc4 3 months before my xxxx girlfriend did, cuz she only has a pc. Also pcs miss out great games like burnout paradise :P

I've actually played FIFA 200_and_something with a friend on the same and room computer. I just plug-ed in a controller on an USB slot. And there are games with split-screen on PCs too.

I will say a few things.

Vga and hdmi are two different types of ways of hooking up a display.

Vga is analog and hdmi is digital.

All high definition is, is a resolution. For something to be "hd" it just has to be 1280x720 or 1920x1080. The i stands for interlaced and the p for progressive. Vga allows for a resolution up to 2048x1536 and hdmi if used through a dual link dvi port allows for up to 2560x1600. However that becomes irrelevant given the highest hd resolution which is 1920x1080.

Given the above informatioin if a crap image is taken at 1280x720 and compared to a much better picture also taken at 1280x720 then sure the crap image will pail in comparison.

The subject is a can of worms but there is truth in it.

Graphics overall are outdated and the consoles are to blame, fanboys will twist it into consoles owning PC but it is really just the product of the cross platform orientation of the market. When designing for cross platform the lowest common denominators determine the games target specification, consoles are the lowest common denominators.

The end result is people are looking for reasons to upgrade above an 8800, console hardware orientation of games has kept hardware requirements at a stand still. Right now it isn't too much of a problem because above 8800 performance isn't common place, the biggest affect you will notice is on game level design and on texture/normal map detail.

However give it another year and we have a big problem, the performance/utilization difference would be horrific.

while the PC has been capable of higher resolutions for quite some time, it hasn't had HD textures to coincide with said resolution. In short, all you were getting back then was a higher res game with low res textures. Hardly something to brag about.Nedemis

Oh please like texture quality is the only thing resolution impacts. HD is also just a marketing term invented to hype TV and console fans anyway, there is no such thing as HD textures.

We were playing games based around 256mb Vram back in 2005 like FEAR and Quake 4, so if your definition of HD textures just so happens to be console capability you may want to think that through.

Most PC graphics are outdated as well. The "cutting edge" is moving forward faster than any person of "average wealth" can keep up with. Consoles have many exclusive games that make them worth the purchase. Combinations like PS3/PC ensure that you have access to any good game that comes out.efrucht

There are loads of games..... to play in the meantime.

If a PC version is announced, or looking as though its due, i'll usually wait for it tbh.

On that note i have started playing Tribes 2 again - there is not hurt in waiting for a port. Though there are some games I will buy on console first.
