I understand the point you are making, but you are holding on to close. "Next-gen starts when we say it does" does not dismiss the fact in total sales the 360 is ahead of the PS3. This is a fact and it can't be dismissed.

360 will decrerase sale while ps3 was increase dramatically. I think lemmings have the illusion that 360 will same as or better than it is now.ff7isnumbaone

At the pace things are moving, the PS3 isn't going to catch the 360 until late '09. Stranger things have definitely happened (like the Wii passing the 360 in 12 months, and passing it in each region in under 30 months), but I don't think the PS3 is going to catch the 360 this year. It will happen though. The 360 is probably going to cap at about 35-40 million, and the PS3 still has the potential to pass 50.

Going back through my old posts and looking at the ridicule I got for believing the Wii would be in the place it is in now and that the 360's hardware sales would wither after the release of Halo 3, I just have to laugh. I've been saying these numbers since before the release of the PS3 and Wii...

I do see MGS4 helping a lot in Japan but the gap is still 5.85 million or something. With 7 months left until the end of the year, that means the PS3 will have to outsell the 360 by roughly 900,000 consoles a month. and i surpose its not sonys fault for leaving the customer out cold at chistmas in the uk 2 years ago. I have a 360 because sony took to long in releasing their console.

NA is still the biggest, largest, most important gaming region around. It's bigger than the 2 regions combined. If Sony want to surpass MS this year, it will need to take over NA. But the reality is that it will not.

I have both the PS3 and 360. Now with that said, lets really look at the numbers you mentioned. I will trust your numbers, since I don't feel like looking them up, and doing the math. Your claiming a 60,000 console advantage for the PS3 each month, Right? Now, times that by ten and you will get 600,000. Now, time that by ten again and you will get the 6 million lead Microsoft has over the PS3. That's 8 years, 4 months. Unless something happens and goes Sony's way,they might not catch the 360. The way Sony is shooting themselves in the foot every time I turn around. That might not happen. Now, to the point, We don't know what is going to happen with the two consoles, and all this is pure speculation. Does the WHITE car deserve to be called "2nd place"??? NO, becuause it left the start line earlier. You can compare the Wii/PS3 numbers all day long and thats fine becuase they were released on the same general timeline.

All I am saying and all I have been saying is that if the 360 and PS3 were released on the same day.............the 360 would be behind in sales. It simple. The "race" started, sony doesn't get a "do over" for not starting on time. It's a 5 year race, and Sony is on pace to catch up 3 years too late. It's on sony to make up for MS's lead in the timespan that matters.

Your analogy is inconstant.

In every auto race that uses a grid the front of the gird gets a "head start" over the back of the grid...usually between 4-5 seconds. If P14 is pulling faster laps times then P1...say .10s.. that does not mean P14 is "winning" the race..The place they are in ..IS the place they are in..Given enough time and consistency P14 would eventually pass P1..... what has been expressed many times is given the current sales rate of the PS3 too the 360..This gen will be over before the PS3 passes the 360...

If that is not clear I don't know what else would be...

PS3 has been out selling the 360 for the past 6 or 7 months. The so called system sellers of the 360 are gone and if you played gears you already have a 360. No one that hasn't played gears knows what it is atleast every day joe bloe. But most console gamers know what MGS is, they know what GT is , they know what Final Fantasy is, they know what Socom is.

Man the list of games that your everyday joe blow on the 100 million sold ps2 system knows first hand is outstanding. And guess what, they are all invited to the party starting the 12th of june. In what way does the PS2 have to do with this topic? I never stated anything about the Ps2 as we are talking about "this" gen..If you are going to start grasping for straws then at-least be consistent with YOUR topic.

Below you will find the two posts I have made in this topic..My logic is consistent and direct...You on the other hand have been inconsistent and extremely fanboyish...

I understand the point you are making, but you are holding on to close. "Next-gen starts when we say it does" does not dismiss the fact in total sales the 360 is ahead of the PS3. This is a fact and it can't be dismissed.

What you are saying is the PS3 has outsold the 360 in "X" time period. This is a fact and it can't be dismissed.

Why would you contradict yourself?

Why would you even comment on total sales when your logic is based off of period sales? Which one are you trying to push? Total sales or period sales?

Your analogy is inconstant.

In every auto race that uses a grid the front of the gird gets a "head start" over the back of the grid...usually between 4-5 seconds. If P14 is pulling faster laps times then P1...say .10s.. that does not mean P14 is "winning" the race..The place they are in ..IS the place they are in..Given enough time and consistency P14 would eventually pass P1..... what has been expressed many times is given the current sales rate of the PS3 too the 360..This gen will be over before the PS3 passes the 360...

All I am saying and all I have been saying is that if the 360 and PS3 were released on the same day.............the 360 would be behind in sales. It simple. I know a lot of people bought into the original XBox and got burned badly when MS dropped all support. And you're probably hoping that the "little engine that could" will at least not come in last again. But its undeniable.........the 360 will again be the least popular console this generation and if MS decide to do another console, the same thing will happen.

With your asinine argument, we could count the 7 year head start of the PS2. 127 mil vs 19 mil.

Now I could care less if the 360 comes in last, I don't count my gaming on who comes in first, second or third in the console race. I have both the 360 and PS3. I count my gaming on exclusives. You saying the 360 is dieing is also, just laughable. The 360 has now been in the black for 3 straight quarters. The PS3? still in the red. Who will get a price reduction first? Probably the 360, and probably by the holidays. Sony will be forced to follow, but will not be able to drop as much. This is just common sense. To call my argument asinine, is very short sighted compared to your fan boy argument.

D- for your effort. No, it will not take 8 years and 4 months for the PS3 to surpass the 360. I will bet cash on that! The 360 is fading fast with the help of hardware failure, over-priced accesories/Live and the fact that is is the oldest system now. The PS3 is coming alive right now and its sales numbers are going to jump dramtically. Speculation? Sure, if that makes you feel better to look at it that way, but is is a very INFORMED and EDUCATED spectualtion

Before I leave I just wanted to post one thing. Leave the numbers to the companies, because in the end it really doesn't matter because I'm still going to play my 360. I don't need a Sony fanboy to say sales is why I should buy another console. :roll:xscrapzx

Unless we see an unprecedented sales spike in the arena of several hundreds of thousands more units shipped per month and 360 sales remaining just as they are now, it's not possible.

PS3 has been out selling the 360 for the past 6 or 7 months. The so called system sellers of the 360 are gone and if you played gears you already have a 360. No one that hasn't played gears knows what it is atleast every day joe bloe. But most console gamers know what MGS is, they know what GT is , they know what Final Fantasy is, they know what Socom is.

Man the list of games that your everyday joe blow on the 100 million sold ps2 system knows first hand is outstanding. And guess what, they are all invited to the party starting the 12th of june. You say a spike in sales lol that may have been what Halo was on the 360 but starting the 12th with MGS4 that is what you call a system seller and I promise it will be known as that. Not a spike not a ripple but a system seller.

The only hope MS had was to rush to market inorder to get market share and thats what happen. But now all the early adoptors are trenched in and the guys that have been waiting for their game to come out will start upgrading their consoles from the ps2 to the ps3.

With the 80gig being reintroduced and MGS bundle coming aswell I do not know not one person getting a 360. But I do know 3 guys getting a ps3. And I do know 2 guys coming from the 360 to the ps3 aswell. So come the 12th I know of 5 ps3's that are going to be sold. Now how many other ps3 owners see this happening or how many xbots see this happening right under your own nose.
