I hate spelling things out for people .......but.....the ONLY reason the 360 is ahead in sales is because it was released a year earlier. Its like if three cars were racing a WHITE car (Xbox360), a BLACK car (PS3) and A BLUE car (Wii) Now the WHITE car got a one year head start but over time the BLUE car passed it and the BLACK car is quickly gaining. Does the WHITE car deserve to be called "2nd place"??? NO, becuause it left the start line earlier. You can compare the Wii/PS3 numbers all day long and thats fine becuase they were released on the same general timeline.

All I am saying and all I have been saying is that if the 360 and PS3 were released on the same day.............the 360 would be behind in sales. It simple. I know a lot of people bought into the original XBox and got burned badly when MS dropped all support. And you're probably hoping that the "little engine that could" will at least not come in last again. But its undeniable.........the 360 will again be the least popular console this generation and if MS decide to do another console, the same thing will happen.

If 360 comes in last it won't be a failure for Msoft. If the PS3 comes in 2nd it will be a failure for Sony and Kaz will be fired. If the PS3 comes in 3rd Sony will more than likely sell off its Playstation division.

Msoft will sell anywhere from 35-55 million consoles this generation and make a huge profit on the Xbox. Unlike last generation where they sold 20million and lost billions of dollars. With 7 months left until the end of the year, that means the PS3 will have to outsell the 360 by roughly 900,000 consoles a month. From my list, only 4 are also on PS3 (NG2 isn't one of them, to be clear). Don't dismiss the 360/PC shared games either, since this a 360 to PS3 comparison. And yes, multiplats DO count, since they provide consumers with choices of the type of games they can play on a system. And we are talking about library diversity, since you wrongly claimed PS3 is stronger in that than 360. Which is why the Simpsons game and Naruto DO count, as they diversify not only in genre (360 has much much more than just shooters) but in age demographic as well.

And since you have shown no capacity for judgment when evaluating libraries, you are not qualified to say which games are or aren't WORTH buying on a given system, as that's based on personal tastes, not reviewer scores.

If you can take into consideration that the PS3 has come within 5 million of the 360s ~10m unit lead when the PS3 launched, and also factor in that the PS3's big name titles are just now starting to be released with MGS4... It seems logical that it could catch up to the 360 in worldwide sales by some time in 2009. the PS3, with said (TOTAL RUMOR) price drop, and throw in a as-of-yet unannounced amazing exclusive or two, and I can see the PS3 coming VERY close. It would take some kind of HUGE holiday sales boom or something to get the PS3 to pass the 360. But come 2009, with the releases of FFXIII, KZ2, and factoring in that MGS4, LBP, and a few other quality exclusives will be out... It's going to be a beast out there. Sony always said they were in it for the longhaul. Not to condone their delays and such, but the PS3 was always about "the future potential". but *shrug*

Either way, the PS3 is doing great, all things considered :D (particularly it's slow start)

judgement has nothing to do with it sir, its an opinion based observation. i beleive that the ps3 has a higher quality in the diversity of titles. sure the 360 has something for everyone as you have pointed out, i am not denying that. almost every system ever has had something for everyone. the bulk of quality games on 360 are sci fi shooters was my point. QUALITY no QUANTITY, i never said the 360 didnt have a butt load of games, just that the ps3 is better at branching out into genres that are not exactly its strong point. and i could not agree with you more about reviewers scores not being the way to judge wether or not a game is worth getting. you listed a bunch of mediocre games, thats my opinion and im sure MANY others would agree.

obviously a 360 owner and one with a biased view. i will give you the RPG, and Shooter genres for now. ps3 hands down takes the racers, and action games, and due to mlb 08 i beleive ps3 takes the cake for sports as well. my opinion

What makes the MS wheel junk?

For a start the 360 wheel is good and ive been very pleased with mine and i think the majoirty of professional reviews echo my oppion.

Secondly i feel all this ranting on about how the 360 was released earlyer in my oppion makes very little difference to the final result. You have a slight advantage and disadvantages, why did the Ps3 get realeased so late? Blu ray was farrr too expensive to put into a console which in my oppion is sony's fault trying to force a media onto people. M$ paided heavily releasing early as there hardware had design flaws but they wanted it out the door asap. Sony didnt care so much as they prosumed there 200mil+ fanbase from PS1 PS2 days would take them through to an easy win of both console and format wars, i love the solid fact it hasnt and from this point of veiw nintendo and microsoft have both won in diffrent fields over sony as sony will not be a distinct winner this round, agreeably it might end with slightly more hardware sales.

Also on a side note, console sales get a huge jump around launch's of all the milliosn of people waiting to buy them, the sales go from there in a slowly decreasing curve which tends towards zero, this curve will have several spikes in for new game launchs, holidays etc etc but by far the biggest shifter of units is a console launch. And that is something which i think sony has messed up badly as they should of had a PS2 style launch with it being outsold worldwide for a good 6months, but instead i saw consoles in stock and in bundles ( something im only just starting to see for the wii! ) a few days after launch. Which to me shows they had alienated a large proportion of there games market.

just a few points to think about and ofc are my oppions.

But next year is a more reasonable goal. I believe that at the end of this year sony will be in a postition where they will be making enough money to drop the price of its console plus when the big titles come out sony will get its reputation back of being the console for great games.

As for Europe, Microsoft probably thinks it more prudent to just encourage PC gaming--costs less. After all, Windows is still the dominant platform for PCs worldwide, and some of Microsoft's best games can be had for PC (ie. Gears of War, Flight Simulator, etc.).

You MS fanboys keep hiding behind the 1 year head start and claim you are "ahead". Whatever! If thats what you need to do to convince yourself that you didnt flush $500 down the toilet.

Eventually, Yes, the PS3 will surpass the 360 in TOTAL SALES, and then the tears will flow. Overcoming a one year headstart and smashing the Xbox into historic system failure along with the Dreamcast and Gizmodo. Ohhhh maaan, LOL

(32months)(593,343units/month)=18,986,976 total units sold(360)

do you see how the 360 number is bigger that means the 360 has sold more consoles and are ahead in sales.

So with your numbers the 360 is ahead by 5,876,976 consoles sold, again with your numbers the PS3 is outselling the 360 by 62,157 consoles a month. So it would take the PS3 roughly 7 and a half years to tie in sales with the 360, assuming there is no change in your numbers.

Edit: I do think the PS3 will pass the 360 in sales in a couple years, I just wanted to see how this guys numbers would play out so I figured I would post it.

No pun intended, but I used to teach Remiadial Math........... So let me break this down to the lowest commmon denominator for you all.

PS3 - 20 months of sales = 13,110,000 units sold (20 months X 655,500)

Xbox360 20 months of sales =11,866,860 units sold (20 months X 593,343)

PS3 = ahead in sales period. You HAVE to compare 20 months to 20 months. Again, MS fanboys try to confuse numbers by throwing that 12 month head start in there. No, not working for you buddy.

And it wont be long before PS3 overcomes the 360 in TOTAL sales. I mean the 360 is fizzling out being the oldest system and MGS4 will push tons of new sales.

Not that I care one way or the other which company "wins" or makes more money, I just want the facts to be seen. So many bullcrap claims on here and I cant ignore them all.

If MS had to lose "teh total sales", but won in NA and Japan, they would consider the situation a win. If the 360 had sales in Japan that were in any way similar to the rest of the world, the PS3 would be losing every month.

My guess is by September 2009 which certainly isn't soon. The current gap is just under 5.90 million according to VGchartz and 5 million according to MS themselves. I believe the gap was around 7-7.5 million back in November so it's getting there gradually.

Yeah, but we must remember that in November the PS3 made a "jump" (due to its price drop), so that phenomenom of 2.5 M every 6 months is not very likely to happen again (not without another price drop, at least) .

The PS3 out sells the 360 in average by 80 000/month, let's say that in chrismas that doubles, and that the MGS 4 also push the sales forward...

Yes, the PS3 has some good games in the future after MGS 4 (Killzone 2, Resistance 2, LBP, FF13, etc), but not of them are truly console-sellers (maybe FF 13) but the 360 has also enough games for keep selling in its rate.

I don't see the PS3 outselling the 360 worldwide before middle 2010.

At the end of 2009, the 360 will be in its 4th year, now I'm sure you know the standard life cycle for a console is 5 years, we will already be hearing rumors, and may know something about Microsofts new console, which will launch in 2010 or 2011

The 360 can be seen as nothing but a success, while the old xbox always lost money, the 360 is now profitable, thats saying alot considering all the hardware issues
