"In the latest Edge magazine, programming wizard John Carmack states that the Xbox 360 version of RAGE just about matches the 60fps framerate of the PC version, while the PS3 only runs the game at around 20-30fps at this stage in development. "

"John Carmack of iD Software reveals that RAGE's framerate suffers considerably on the PlayStation 3.

Written directly above that: "Friday, 31 Jul 2009 09:38"

Yeah...I read this back when it was, you know, NEWS. You know, the way "new" implies that the information presented is NEW.

Correct. He also said that the PS3 version would have slightly sharper textures in some areas due to the storage capacity of Blu-Ray.

The engine was built for the PC first. ID will get it up to 60fps when they really start pounding out the PS3 version.

This is bad news, back then. I just watched the GS stage show and the creative director say it will run 60fps on all systems. I'm still getting it on the 360 because of the controllers.

The PS3 version will be virtually identical. Is this lemmings trying to damage control for their poor line-up and lack of exclusives this year?

.. Isn't this expected in early development? The PS3 is harder to design for seeing as it doesn't use the typical architecture for designing.. Clearly the Xbox360 would run better in the beginning, because it use a standard architecture.. This by no means that its going to run better at the final product.

BTW carmack confirmed the PS3 is more powerful.

Then, Carmack talked about developing for consoles for the first time with Rage. He feels that the PS3 has more processing power but that the 360 is easier to program for.

This article you posted is from Friday, 31 Jul 2009 09:38

http://www.gamezine.co.uk/news/games/r/rage/carmack-rage-faster-on-xbox-360-and-pc-$1315438.htm

This year, Id said that Rage is running better on the PS3

id demos Rage on 360, promises smooth gaming on PS3 - 9:40 AM on 05.04.2010

http://www.destructoid.com/id-demos-rage-on-360-promises-smooth-gaming-on-ps3-172760.phtml

At a Bethesda Softworks press event last month, id Software brought out the latest build of its upcoming first-person shooter, Rage. Previously shown only running on a PC, the developer pulled out its Xbox 360 kits to demonstrate the game.

But what of the PlayStation 3? id Software's Tim Willits says not to worry, that the engine that powers Rage, idTech 5, is "true cross-platform technology."

"We demoed on the 360 here today," he explained, "but our program director actually said 'Do you want to take the PS3? I think it's actually running better.'"
