Erm, nope, it still doesn't come close. I honestly wish console gamers would go actually play crysis on good hardware before actually comparing it to console games. I remember uncharted looked as good as crysis, Gears looked as good as crysis etc etc. Nothing, Not one single game comes even close to crysis, whether its running at 720p, 1280x1024 or any other resolution at high settings. Very high DX10 is probably bordering next gen from now.

Sadly I can't get MGS4 to run at 720P it only runs at 576P

This has bothered me for a while, sorry for the thread derail.

Are the bulk of people on SW just trolls or are they that humanly stupid to post "OMG MGS4 R BESTESTS", "GAMESPOT LIDE BOUT HAZE", "2 HoomAN WILL PWN!!!",ect. It really bothers me.

Oh yah on a side note, many games > 1 game.

Ok, I get it. Someone here doesnt have a PC and may be never had one for long time. Thats why that someone cannot see the screenshots, that people post here, on whatever terminal (B&W?) used to read these posts.

While looking on Wikipedia for articles describing the PS3 hard hardware, I came to a dead end. I found the GPU, CPU and the rest but I have no idea what it's comparable to on PC. Here are some spec sheets:

OK! This isn't Metal Gear vs Crysis. I wanted to know exactly what a PS3 specs are compared to a PC.

Ex. the GPU on a XBOX is 'about' a hd 2600.

Btw I have to admit Metal Gear IS amazing. The visuals are GREAT and can be compared to Crysis and it runs on dated hardware unlike PC witch makes it more great. I still don't think it sould get a 10, I mean as much as the game is good, no game should get 10 because no game is perfect.

its a very tough question to answer really.

as an overall game performer...a good, solid core 2 duo, a geforce 8800GTS 512MB and 2GB of ram will run rings around the PS3. yes the cell has more threads but then the 8800 has way way more graphical grunt than the cell.

but trying to match it component for component is very difficult. the GPU is similar to a 7800GTX i think (with 256MB of its own ram). then the other 256MB of ram is XDR.

as for the cell....its hard to say really. theres nothing that can be directly compared to it. its made even harder to measure since the division of labour on a console os very different from a PC. on a PC its a case of "throw all graphics at the GPU and let the CPU do everything else" where as on consoles, the workload is shared...the CPU asists more with graphics.

but yeah....overall a good solid core 2 duo or quad, 2GB of ram and an 8800GTS 512MB will beat the PS3 in overall gaming performance.

YOu can't compare them.. For one the Cell is a gimmick plain and simple.. These super compuetrs that supposedly use the cell, do not use the exact same cell from the PS3.. Are you guys this stupid to understand that a chip with in a $600 console where it wasn't even the most expensive part of the machine some how is this super powerful chip? Don't make me laugh, it may have some of the ach. and technology for the expensive cell chips, but it is completely different..

That being said the PS3 can't be compared to the PC.. A direct comparison would topple the PS3, in ram, video card etc etc.. But they are two different systems, and really can be only compared in visuals. And as of right now Crysis is still king.
