http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/06/12/ps3-exclusives-sell-45-better-than-multiplatform-releases/

According to EEDAR analyst Jesse Divnich, PS3 owners prefer exclusives on their systems. In fact, a title that is exclusive to PS3 will sell 45% better on the system than a multiplatform title. Exclusives on both the Wii and Xbox 360, according to the analyst, only have a "small increase" over multiplatform titles

Come on developers start making those exclusives ;)

What do you guys think ?

I suppose some consumers when they buy a PS3, rather than the more inexpensive 360, feel their purchase is more justified if they buy more exclusive games.

Really interesting to hear that.

I doubt it's going to persuade developers to make a currently multiplat title exclusive to the PS3, but it might stop a current exclusive going multiplat.

does it really matter if they sell 45% better if they only sell by a handfull? its the same as a 300% increase in 360 sell in japan when blue dragon or LO was released. Going from 3000 to 12.000 isnt really that impressive.

However, I dont really care because i only buy exklusives for my ps3 and multiplats for my 360.

So Heavenly Sword, Ratchet and Clank and Uncharted outsold Call of Duty 4, Assassin's Creed, Devil May Cry, GTA4, etc on the PS3? Is he for real? Where is he getting his data from?

I wonder how did they calculate this, probably made some lame comparsion by comparing the sales of similarly rated multiplats and exclusives.

Well i got 2 gaming PCs (one connected to the TV) and a PS3 and i tell you any game that comes on both i'll pick up on my PC. Why, the game is cheaper and looks better on my PCs. Plus in 5 years if i ever wanted to i can play these games. After sony shafted us on the backwards compatibility i have no reason to belive that games on the PS3 would be playable on the next playstation.

And ofcourse the benefit of a PC is i can choose between mouse and keyboard, controller, wheel, joystick for controlling the game.

So basically all that is saying is that Multiplats sell better on other systems which makes sense. The PS3 multiplats have been pretty much average, with a few exceptions.

This is just another way of pointing that out. I rarely buy multiplats on the PS3 and usually when I have, I've also bought the 360 version too. See Burnout: Paradise and GTA 4.

Personally I usually buy my multiplats on 360, only for the achievements. According to Game Informer a few months back, alot of people were doing the same. I haven't missed a good quality ps3 exclusive yet though, but with that said I haven't missed a good Wii or 360 exc. either.

It might sell 45% better on the PS3, but over all it would sell more if it was multiplatform. (Adding up that game sold on each system)

I suppose some consumers when they buy a PS3, rather than the more inexpensive 360, feel their purchase is more justified if they buy more exclusive games.Danm_999
Well that isn't always the case, for people that live in the twenty first centry an don't run drop cords through their house to run the ethernet cable to there systems and are not dumb enough to believe the seperation bs of the 360 then they would know it can go either way. 360 199.00 ok that is bs off the start you need a hard drive my friend had a memory card an tried to save two profiles an two Forza games it was a no go. Also rather then run a drop cord he like the rest of us where I live with high speed cable internet prefers wireless over the wired cord solution. An for the people that say oh but you get a better connection when you do wired FYI I've never lagged on wireless. Then you've got live thats 50 bucks right there. so cheaper hardly maybe if you don't need a few things but I'm telling you what the deal is for me an the people I know. Also I played Halo 1-3 an gears 1-2 an I'm just not as impressed as everyone else if you stare at the screen an say look at the pretty then sure I can understand you fasination but then again that is just about every game nowadays. Either that or you just enjoy shooters which means you just might have gotten the right system or atleast thats how it used to be.

Another thing people like to just forget about multi plats like they arn't there. I played COD4 no problems looked great Assassins Creed, Fallout 3 dispite the bs misleading review I've had no issues an since found out all the version had issues, personally I've had none. Then there is LBP which even for me who doesn't typically like platformers, I have to say its quite the keeper. MGS4 no need to go there for the shooter fans Resistance an a little something called Deadspace which was great btw. Also for those of stratagic mind Valkyria Chronicles and Disgaea 3. Not to mention more exclusives I could have gone into an more multiplats I could have as well. Oh an lets not for get the up an coming titles like Heavy Rain, those that played the game indigo prophecy know what I'm talking about. Either way it comes down to game prefrence for me the obvious choice is PS3 an pc.

360 199.00

wireless adapter 80-90

Xbox Live Gold 50-40 something if you count the new price

An don't bs yourself the hard drive 99.00

PS3 400.00

Now based off what I need an want I would be stupid to get a 360 understand some people's logical choice. Keep in mind once again this is based off of what I would need, it doesn't mean you would to I'm just saying.

Oh an one more thing I saw someone mentioned above multiplatforms sell better on the 360. It seems you haven't heard the latest as it seems quite a few fiscal year figures are showing better sales on the PS3.

Thats because PS3 owners chose to play the better version of those multiplatform titles on their 360s, so they end up using their PS3s to play the rare exclusive that did not flop (or to watch the occasional Blu Ray movie).

No offense but game sales and attach rates were very poor on the PS3 for quite some time. :| I dont see why every news story needs to be twisted into an attack on other console owners.

I would think people who own both a 360 and PS3 buying multiplats on the 360 instead of on the PS3 would be a large contributing factor.

A game flopping on GameSpot's SW forum does not make it a poor game.

SW is not real life.

But you have games like Fallout 3 and other multiplatform titles that combined sell more then that. So even then with a 45% better increase you're still more likely to be able to make more money on a multiplatform game.

This could also mean that most of these multiplat games are selling that much better on the 360 compared to the PS3.

I think the main reason for this is Sony's attempts to support their machine with first party games. Cows wont like to hear this, but i imagine the likes of Resistance, Uncharted and Motorstorm sold very well because for an uncomfortably long period of time, they were the only games worth buying. Disagree if you like, but if we're being objective and level-headed here i think that's a reasonable comment.

It's only more recently that Sony have managed to drum up some decent third party support. Until this year, they've had to make sure they have a strong library by making games themselves.

See what i did there?

Anyway, i'm not buying this study. Doesn't make much sense to me. Games like Uncharted or any other PS3 exclusive can't sell more than say... GTAIV.

Well, i bet all the 2 console owners buy exclusive games on PS3 because 90% of the multiplats are inferior on the PS3. Not to mention if the game has any online support then off course LIVE makes the choice so much easier. And cows will be cows, they will buy exclusives no matter what.

I guess it's not THAT surprising considering the majority of multi-platform titles are the weakest on the PS3. On the other hand, I find it hard to believe that anything other than a fraction of the majority who buy games for the PS3 are aware of that fact. People who read up on this stuff and familiarise themselves with these details are definitely in the minority of consumers.

Just because a game isnt AAA on Gamespot doesnt mean its garbage. Lost Odyssey is the best JRPG this generation so far, if you ask me at least. Plus Eternal Sonata and Tales of Vesperia were both great.

That's because they made the game for our system when most gaming companies choose to port 360 titles to the PS3 that are low in quality. Therefore, if they invest in the PS3 PS3 gamers will buy their games, period.

There might be some truth to that but most PS3 only owners, such as myself, are sick and tired of playing poor 360 ports.

This was saying exclusives sell better than multiplats. Its simple. They buy the multiplats for the 360 and just buy the exclusives for ps3. Not hard to figure out.

it actually does, there was a report on Kotaku today that proved this wrong in a way - PS3 attach rate is ridiculously low compared to the Wii / 360.

Extremely vague statistic is extremely vague. Are we talking about on average, or like in total, or a few select top sellers or what? I mean I could take Halo 3 and put it against something like cod4 and gta 4 and go "oh look 360 owners wanted to buy 360 exclusives much more than multiplats", so it really depends on what exactly they mean to decide if this is really worth being excited or not.

Kotaku don't make me laugh if that site isn't the most pro 360 site I've ever seen I don't know who is they don't even hold credibility on N4G anymore which is pretty bad with all the bs that comes through there. I think offcial xbox magazine would be less bias then them at this point.

here is a little reading material for some of you who apparently don't read post longer then half a sentence. The lower install base excuse is just a sorry excuse these days get over it.

An with good reason its specifically developed for the console an brings out what the console is capable of a lot better. Though I will admit with games like Dead Space some people are finally getting it right because wether you played in hd or sd that game was beautiful.

Same as I multiplats really turn me off, I didnt bought a Ps3 to play games available on other platforms and this trend of broken multiplats and bad ports doesn't help

[QUOTE="Floppy_Jim"]But PS3 owners don't buy games, right Lemmings? They only buy Blu-Rays, right Lemmings? The PS3 has a piss-poor attatch rate, right Lemmings?3picuri3

it actually does, there was a report on Kotaku today that proved this wrong in a way - PS3 attach rate is ridiculously low compared to the Wii / 360.

What, one less?
