guys, let's take this to 9000 this time ... with the amount of ignorant fanboys around here, this can be easy.

Well i dont have GT5 so i never experienced such long waiting but still this is not the same as talking about multiple disks
waltefmoney
Taking 30 seconds to switch a disc > waiting 40+ minutes for a game to install. Got it.
the installation is optionalI'll stick with what I feel is the better experience 100% of the time. Heil68
Agreed, I also buy all my games on PC when I can.

Whats worse is swapping consoles to play the online portion of a game
SecretPolice
OT - Yeah, freakin gaming PC's using DVD's to this day - so last gen. :o
:P
but ..but, this is PC, a 1 gb can trun into 10 using the almighty PC ..... and btw, PC gaming sucks, no wonder developers are shifting to consoles :P .
Edit: the game in question isn't even on PC, is it ?
the installation is optionalcampzor
Its good where it is optional but there is one game that kinda gets annoying. MGS 4. Great game. Its just a shame it has to take an install for every single level.
What are lems talking about? Are you guys crazy enough not to install your games? I install every game I play to my HDD. It runs quieter, loads quicker and gives your 360 a longer life. Me installing 3 discs would take about as long as installing to PS3 will take. Then I don't have to juggle around discs.
Name one game with 20 discs.[QUOTE="charizard1605"][QUOTE="finalstar2007"]
I'v neen doing this since the very start of me buying the PS3 so its no big deal and it never takes more than 10 minutes. still better than 20 disks for 1 game
finalstar2007
Just because i said 20 disks dosent mean there is actually a game that has 20 disks.. i thought it would be easy to catch.. this was more of me joking at disk swapping and which we all know the 360 still does.. not sure if wii has a game with multiple diks but no argument since wii is a last gen console.. dont hate me this is my sexy opinion

love the game but it was annoying having to do it multiple times. Its VERY strange cause i dont think any other game has installations quite like mgs4 :Sthere is still a mandatory 0.25GB install for GT5. Averages out to about 2 mins so roughly 10 disc swaps not too shabby.
If youre saying mandatory installs are irrelevant to disc swapping youre wrong. Disc swapping is the downside of DVD-9. Mandatory installs which take considerably longer are the downside of the ps3 disc reader and blu-ray.

I think there is a difference between and install and disk swapping. Because an install is done only once and it isn't done during gameplay. Also installs are on PS3 because every unit has a harddrive. If X360 were the same way it would have installs as well because Harddrive;s area lot faster than DVD or blu-ray.there is still a mandatory 0.25GB install for GT5. [QUOTE="Bunj84"]and FF13 fits into your idea of a better experience compared to what? getting beaten up by a hobo? it took me 40 hours to complete ME2. i swapped the disc once.when i had blade runner on PC it had 5 discs!!!! no one complained then!Heil68Awesome..compare a game that was released in 1997 to today's games. Good job!
well, i havent been a PC gamer since then, so that was my only frame of reference. PC games were frequently on many man CD's or floppys, and it was OK. That was my point. What's changed since then? Is everyone 50 kilos heavier and unable to move to change discs? I'm obviously doing it wrong.
No comparison. You don't have to peel your ass off the sofa to install a game. Once you install you're done and can go on to enjoy the game to the very end. Disc swapping happens in the middle of the experience. You have to get up and do work. why not? it's a current generation console, time wise, a last generation console hardware wise .... a very crappy console if you ask me.

personally, I can't stand swapping discs anymore. We should be beyond that. Yes I did it with previous systems but, I'm not using those previous systems anymore, I'm using current gen stuff. Most of mygames that have 2+ discs on the 360 will be bought on the PS3. I think the argument and defense of disc swapping is stupid by the way. If you don't have to swap, great, if you do have to swap, have fun with the game anyway. To tc: u mad bro?

You can get someone to switch the disc for you, but that won't be easy. It requires talking which consumes energy.
Having swap any disk at all is inconvenient which is one of the benefits of pc all your games installed on your hardrive and can play them all without having to go get the disk out of the case for every game each time i want to play which would be pretty inconvient given the size of my collection and how many games i am playing at once.

Exactly! Until games become internal imagery projected on the forefronts of our minds from the pits of our own subconscious gaming will involve much more work than is necessary.
