@playharderfool and TC

NV G70 vs NV G80's decoupled shader and texture unit design.

ATI Xenos also includes decoupled shader and texture unit design.

Unless the game doesn't have any textures, any theoretical peek numbers for RSX/G7X is debunked by NVIDIA's G7X design flaw.

The OP just got himself owned. The 360 is exactly the same as the PS3 in terms of power & graphics. People like the OP thinks that the PS3 is more powerful than the 360 because of games like Uncharted 2. Just give the developers the same money & time, & I guarantee you that the graphics would come out to be the same on the 360.

Persistantthug

Why do people insist on trying to fool themselves?

No, the XBOX 360 is not the same as PS3 in power or graphics. Why? Because the The PS3 has the CELL PROCESSOR and the Cell processor does what no other Consumer CPU can do, including PC CPU's.....The Cell can graphics process and graphics render by ITSELF.

XBOX 360 will never have the same graphical potential of PS3...period.

XBOX has some good games but XBOX 360 will never have the same graphical potential of PS3...period.

LOL, you're kidding me right? PS3's cell processor more powerful than PC's & does what no other consumer CPU can do? If that were true, then everyone would've used that on their PC's right now. Plus never say never when it comes to having the same good graphics as the PS3 with the 360.

If the Cell is so ahead of CPU cores, explain why Crysis looks better than every PS3 game. Go ahead. I'll wait.DarkLink77

The PS3 is not more powerful than most PC's made in the last 2 years.

I'm simply saying the Cell Processor does what no other CPU can do...that's all.

And in terms reference to the XBOX 360, that is why it will always have more potential than the XBOX 360....let alone BluRay, but we'll save that for another time.

[QUOTE="T-Aldous"]Well you are in the extreme minority, I personally went through 2 PSX's and 3 PS2's as Sony wouldn't confess to their crap consoles. I guess the opposite thing for us both happened. MS restored my gaming fun because they were the only company that stepped up to the plate over their junk console.T-Aldous

funny cuz my ps2 and ps1's never gave out. in fact my first ps1 was assembled from good pieces of other ps1's that were damaged in shipping.

I find it amazing how all PS3 fans NEVER had a single problem with their PSX or PS2's, it was just everyone else in the world that had issues. I was a huge PS2 fan and so were most of my friends and between all of us we figured we went through about 17 to 20 PS2's. But none of the cows here ever had one break....weird.

You'll have to take my word for it man..My launch PS1 and PS2 are still going strong. Guess what....My launch N64,Sega Saturn,SegaDreamCast,Xbox,GameCube,Wii are still going. PLUS I have another 10 consoles in my collectioin. NONE of them ever a days problem. JUST my 360.

I understand having problems. BUT MS has done nothing exept "repare"lol...their 360s when you send them in. They have done nothing at all to fix them in reality. Sure my 360 will be "fixed" for free from here on out cause of all my problems, but its just all the troubles leading up to it that killed me.

Will I ever buy another MS console in the future generations?? I really dont know. Im a GAMER and not loyal to brands. Im just going to have to see how things go next time around. As for now, I love my NEW PS3 and I believe its 10 years ahead of my 360 from the quiteness of it, to the look of the dashboard, to the free online, to brousing the internet,...I just like it a lot so far.

In relation to stream computing, I think Geforce 8800 GT can cover both SPEs and G70 e.g.multi-platform games rendered greater than 1280x720p.

ATI Radeon HD 5600/5700/5800/5900 supports full IEE-754-2008 standard.

Specifically what I'm saying is, the Cell Processor is more powerful than the XBOX 360's CPU.

And yes, because the Cell can Graphics process by itself, it still remains a key feature that no other consumer CPU chip can do...but I'm not looking to pick a PC fight....just an XBOX 360 fight *wink*

Also, the XBOX has been out for over 4 years, and it has not had a game that's been a technical marvel since Gears Of War (2006). Maybe it needs another 4 years....perhaps that's the answer. lol

ATI Xenos's smart-eDRAM includes 192 co-pixel processors i.e. some of the graphics work is off-loaded from the primary GPU.

As for "consumer CPU chip" in the PC, Intel Atom (Pineview), Intel Core i3, Core i5 includes CPU+GPU on a single package.

In relation to parallel stream computing workloads, Xbox 360 copies gaming PC's workload model i.e. an attack on Xbox 360 = an attack on gaming PC.

How's CELL's SPE OpenGL? Does it beat Intel GMA X4500 yet?

All of Sony's technically impressive games are 1st party (I think. KZ2 might be second party). Most of MS's 1st party studios don't really focus on graphics. Turn 10 doesn't, neither does Lionhead. Bungie isn't 1st party anymore, and they always chose scale anyhow. I think the 360 is capable of it, but you'd have to find a dev. who wanted to do something graphically impressive.

Crysis 2 say's hi.

Technically, ME2 uses the same engine as Gears2.

(SNIP)

Quake 3 entirely rendered on Intel CPU i.e. timedemo demo001/normal settings yields 41 FPS on Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 2.5Ghz. I'm using MESAWin6 OpenGL-to-DX3D bridge. Which is running on top of Swiftshader CPU software render.

Swiftshader's JIT (Just-In-Time) engine makes a big difference in CPU software DX9b rendering speed.

Nice opinion, i personally think in the graphics area the PS3 is not that far ahead.racing1750

you obviously havent played Uncharted 2, and if you have, you obviously have to get your eyes checked, and if you have....I think you need an appointment with a psycholigist....now.

right, so any of us that doesn't think UC2 blows everything on the 360 out of the water has to have something wrong with them, because personal preference that favours artistic design over technical prowess is obviously a pretty serious mental disorder right? i had better get down the doctors then, cos i think aliens vs predator looks better than UC2 artistically, i find the visuals in AVP more pleasing to my eye
