PS3 losing this generation :(

despite many ps3 exclusives coming out this year. Microsoft managed to sell the xbox 360 very well and needless to say its still beating the ps3 in sales by a mile. heck, i went into my local gamestop last saturday at peak hour and there wasn't anybody at the ps3 section with the xbox 360 section full of people. what do you guys think?

i think you are just over exaggerating, as a consumer and a gamer do you really care that much about numbers and sales? no really do you? does it really matter that how much the console of you choice ( PS3, XBOX 360, Wii ) sold when it keeps biringing exitement and entertainment to your home? i think if you care about how many people staring at PS3 game section in your local game stop, my dear friend you are playing video games for a wrong reason.

Sony's press conference will come up shortly announcing PS3 hardware shipments for Jan-Mar 2011. To date, the 360 hasn't outshipped the PS3 since 2009.

I can assure you, over here the PS3 sections in game stores are by far the most crowded. Heck, mostly it's about 3 times as big as the 360 side.

Shouldn't matter to most people. At the end of the day Sony will release a PS4 and MS will release the next xbox. Buy whichever you choose and play your games.

I've got access to a PS3, Wii, DS, X360 and a PC etc. It's people who stick to one format that have "lost" this generation, because they're missing out on some of the best games around.

Well the Wii has more games and more exclusives than the PS3, so you're on the right track.

Feels more like the Wii is losing this gen to be honest. It's first place in sales, sure, but when it comes to people's reactions towards not just the Wii, but Nintendo as well, that's how it looks.

I remember hearing the same hatred during the GameCube days. Nintendo has not been relevant in the "hardcore gamer" minds since the early 90's.

Do you know what, though? I'm perfectly okay with that.

There are many excellent Wii exclusives which have entertained me for hours...many of which are not well-known or mainstream at all.

At the end of the day, that is all that matters. I am proud to have owned a Wii since launch.

You failed though. Your argument would make sense if the PS3's sales were bad, but it sells EXTREMELY well...the difference between numbers is VERY small (units sold). Sony has a ton of things going for them right now *cough* exclusives *cough* and also played from behind for most the gen...Its amazing to see PS3 where it is right now to be honest and only has a positive future from now til PS4.

The Worldwide sales between the two consoles are about two million apart...but I'm not into sales. Still, that's one heck of a narrow gap between the two consoles. Both are around 50 million units sold, if you didn't know.

I can say that if we look back at the SNES generation during it's day, the SNES was losing to the Genesis year after year...but do you remember the SNES being a bad seller or a bad machine? :P

I'm not that surprised, my step son and his friends have both consoles and all they mostly play is CoD on the 360 or just chat with each other over XBL.

Some people here are acting as if the split between 360 and PS3 are like the split between them and Wii. Or the split between the original xbox and PS2. We are talking neck-and-neck here folks. PS3 has pretty much outsold 360 year to year since its release. TruthBToldShow

It's purely subjective isn't it?. If you're going to judge it off sales then Wii wins, if you're going to judge it off the amount of exclusives then PS3 wins, if you're going to judge it off the amount of multiplats then it's probably going to be the xbox 360 due to the fact it slightly shares more with the PC. You could totally argue all these down to because your opinion could be completely different, maybe you don't like the PS3 exclusives, maybe you don't care for multiplats or don't agree that the xbox 360 has the upper hand in them and maybe you don't care about sales.

It's a waste of time, stop trying to justify your purchase (or your parents purchase they made for you)

Well 360 keeps selling thanks to its causal stuff, but the only core gamers platform that still matters is actually PS3 until next gen comes.

It's not an opinion like most things around here, it's actual fact. The PS3 is losing to the Xbox 360 and Wii, plain and simple. I don't care personally but some people have some serious problems with it. Making youtube videos, giving bad reviews to games they have never played, spreading misinformation on forums, etc. It's sad.

And of course the drones will try and to spin it anyway they can for damage control. At the end of the day, who cares!? I like the Xbox 360 the most, if it was dead last in sales I couldn't care less. It has the features and games I enjoy the most.

wait just a second, people actually care about sales of video games and video game consoles? what is wrong with you guys? yes, it's nice to see something you like sell good, but at the end of the day you as a person that likes playing video games should be doing just that - playing video games. i thought people were actually joking about the sales thing. some people on here actually care too much.
