PS3 losing this generation :(

Microsoft managed to sell the xbox 360 very well and needless to say its still beating the ps3 in sales by a mile. heck, i went into my local gamestop last saturday at peak hour and there wasn't anybody at the ps3 section with the xbox 360 section full of people. what do you guys think?

It's actually a curious matter that no one mentioned the blue ray vs HD dvd battle, which blue ray won. On the long run, especially for those who enjoy movies, the ps 3 is a far superior choice especially now that most movie prublishers have taken their hands of the HD dvd. Another very serious matter that no one mantioned is that the XBOX is relativly easy to crack as opposed to the PS3, game sales are very important for any console and the Xbox 360 is missing out on ALOT of those sales due to piracy. Futhermore there doesn't seem to be any console 'losing' this GEN because gaming simlpy exploded.rastotm

Then your looking at the wrong thing. Take Two just announced that 39% of their profits came from PS3 and 40% from the 360. Considering how that jump was from 21% PS3 profits last year, the PS3 is likely to take over in this area aswell, making the PS3 preferable to develop for. Even if it hasn't made it in sale. Why do you think so many games aren't done on the Wii? Power, sure, but 3rd party games don't sell on that console.

They did. They had about a 70% marketshare over both Microsoft & Nintendo last gen. Now, look what's happened. Most of the 3rd party games are being multiplat between the PS3 & the 360.

The Gran Turismo Video games, is just one. :P

I don't care about sales, but as far as Sales go, the GT series is up there with the Mighty Ones. I'm sure many in SW would be surprised to see GT5's current sales success. In fact, compare GT5 sales to Halo Reach sales, that may be interesting.

Also, MARKET SHARE resets every generation. This is a known fact. Every generation is reset from the previous gens.

Just like the Superbowl Champs from last year still have to go through the process of working their way to the next Superbowl the next year, EVEN THOUGH they were last year's winner.

currently xbox 360 is the best at quantity and quality. So yeah xbox is still winning.

So yeah, sony is losing this generation even with the monster that was RROD on the 360, they still remained ahead.

The Xbox 360 has Halo and Gears. These two franchises ALONE have DESTROYED the sales of ALL these games combined. Hell, Halo 3 and Halo Reach have done this. The numbers speak for themselves. Ironically, the 360 has the best JRPG this gen too, which is Lost Odyssey.

What do the game sales do for you, really? Just because a game is certified to sell millions, is that the only incentive you have to buy them?

Just look at games like Okami and Chrono Trigger, for example. They didn't sell very well, but they are still considered some the best games of all time (infinitely better then any Halo or Gears game IMHO).

And Lost Odyssey the best JRPG this gen? lolwat? Clearly you don't own a DS.

I don't think anyones losing, both Sony and MS are more or less the same now and because they are so competitive, the consumers wining, devs and publishers are doing well and MS and Sony are doing well with them. Both have a healthy chunk of the market and are making money. Both have great games, motion thingys it's gotta have been fantastic gen from wherever you sit.

I think it's really healthy and I hope it's always the case.

Surprised so many people jumped on the xbox bandwagon this gen though for real. and can't see how anyone can justify how wanky that console is.. mine broke twice.. and they can screw themselves before I ever by a "slim" model, I shouldn't have to buy even a second one in the first place.

Combination of coming out with a console first... making it cheaper (which shows... ) and luckily having one franchise with superb multiplayer (halo) will do that though.
