good, maybe you guys will finally feel validated about your purchase and be able to live with yourselves.
That doesn't compute. The official numbers released by the manufacturers are different. 360 is at least 44.6 million units. Wii is at least 75.9 million units.
If true, coz I didn't click on link nor do I care to find out the autheticity of the topic, now the PS3 fans can claim the same silly thing PSP fans claim! Wedidn't finish last we finished second! Hooray for us!
JK. But I guess they technically aren't last, but honestly who cares if the PS3 outsells the 360 by 5 million units or if the 360 outsells the PS3 by 1 unit, the problem is Sony got seriously humbled this generation by Microsoft and Nintendo, it took them 4 years to recover, and even then if you call shipping 10 million units per calendar year a recovery after the decade success of PS1/PS2 than you should be disappointed, business-wise.
Additionally, the same GameCube arguement runs this gen as well, even if the PS3 outsells the 360 by 15 million units, what does it matter if Sony makes substantially less profit from the hardware, and overall money (software sales as well) as Microsoft and Nintendo?
But I think with Move, Kinect, this next 2-3 years is essentially a new gen, it'll be interesting to see where everything shakes out from this point on, if Nintendo loses more ground to the other two.
But as a proud owner of all three current gen consoles, I say that I don't think the 360 or PS3 outselling each other proves very little, either way they are showing now what consumers they really want with Move and Kinect, and it isn't exactly the consumer who visits these forums.
EDIT: It appears this likely isn't true, and that the 360 was reported to sell 45M a while ago, so my comment still stands on the general topic, just not the parts about the PS3 being 2nd now

Shipped =/= Sold herp derp. Well none the less something doesn't add up, either Famitsu/Tose are lying or they got their numbers wrong - or maybe MS lies? That doesn't compute. Well, according to Greenberg, Microsoft has sold over 45 million 360's.
[QUOTE="Immortal--"]MS said the 360 sold 45M a while ago.SolletKinda funny this article is from... today :O It can be from next year, but if it's wrong, its wrong. MS says they shipped 45+ million already, then this is not current data they've used. Using old data and releasing it today = poor.

So you're willing to believe Enterbrain to be a more reliable source for Xbox 360 sales than Microsoft?

Sony wasn't humbled. PS3 came out a year late, was overpriced and Sony was losing money on the console.....and they still closed the gap and ended up making a profit. And considering the 2011 lineup, it will probably finish in a distant but comfortable second place. Not bad consider the huge disadvantage they started off with.Hehe I know that he said that after correcting himself by posting other nr that suggest lower sales.[QUOTE="Sollet"][QUOTE="waltefmoney"]

So the Xbox lost 4 million units in sales? Interesting.

Indeed, also Sony usually releases shipped numbers, like with Move and these mean nothing
Xbox 360 is 3-5 million head of PS3, and 10 million ahead in US !!!!

There are OVER45 million consoles sold in 35 countries.
The worst part for Sony is that this is before Kinect, now 360 is selling at 10x rate

Hmmmm....All I have to say is, Keep fighting for second place

Didn't Greenberg say that it was sold. \People, read the link before you post. :lol:tagyhagI skimmed it just now.... What is it even saying in that diagram with the current consoles?!

Shipped has always meant sold to retailers, so it is a sold unit according to MS and Sony.ah so the units MS ships to retailers are immediately sold?
People, read the link before you post. :lol:tagyhag
What? Hypocrisy.
No one reads the links anymore :P
Nice, PS3 caught up nicely after being a whole year back, and all those people re-buying their broken 360s, nice!!!
[QUOTE="UnrealDelusion"]

lundy86_4
What he means is that retailers pay for their shipment of consoles from MS/Sony/Nintendo. Sold to consumers is difficult to track, and they have no need to report those numbers.
Well like the lems always say shipped doesn't equal sold so that the PS3 outsold the 360 and is in 2nd place now could very well be true.

UnrealDelusion
It could very well be true, but it seems rather unlikely in the limited timeframe since the release of their official shipped numbers. Obviously demand has increased for the PS3 since 2007 though.
Shipped is sold, just not through to the consumer end, thus their shipped numbers =/= total userbase.
