While I'm glad that Sony is dominating, I'm quite disappointed in the Japanese in general as to why they still have the whole dynasty warriors fetish.

If you've ever viewed "other types" of Japanese media you'll find they have quite a few other strange fetishes.
lol 2009 will be funny. my guess is that sales will climb slowly until the end of the year, then gamespot will go, "guess what! we decided to not accept this month's payment from microsoft, so we're free to say this, sell your 360s and buy ps3s, because they OWNED you this year. we've just made a new thing, best system of the year, which microsoft already bought, and REAL best system of the year, which we're giving to sony's ps3, since like everybody, we found an elaborate loophole in microsoft's contract that allows us to screw them, and everybody hates them so we just can't resist. merry christmas!"
[QUOTE="Mr_Apple_Soup"]Actually yes seeing how MS was killing them there at 1 point.

Were have you been it was a big deal that 360 was beating out the PS3 in its home country awhile back.Grade A too, you shouldn't comment on matters if you don't own all 3 systems because your bias comes through, who cares about NA other than Americans? All I ever hear on these boards is NA this NA that, NA does not = the WORLD.So at what point does Japan reflect the US? Foolish cows and their predictions...

No, the fact PS3 is outselling the Wii consistently does :o.

Too many of these topics. But anyway, beating the 360 in Japan is nothing to get confident about, if it wasn't beating it, that would be sad. As far as the success carrying into the US, what success? 2 weeks of good sales and all of a sudden the PS3 is a beast or something? Please, give it a month and everything will be back to normal.

I thought it was for like a month :?. Either way, the PS3 could sell more than the Wii (which it is). But what explains the Wii's lower numbers? Are Japanese gamers shifting they're focus to PSP and/or PS3? If it continues, this can get interesting.[QUOTE="ActicEdge"][QUOTE="Episode_Eve"] No, the fact PS3 is outselling the Wii consistently does :o.Tiefster

Are Japanese gamers shifting they're focus to PSP and/or PS3? If it continues, this can get interesting.Nope, its been 2 weeks. The low wii numbers are due to the release of like, no relevant games. The higher 360, PSPand PS3 sales are due to there biggest announced games relevant to Japan being released in the first 3 months of the year. DS has hit a serious saturation point considering its the best selling system in Japan ever, its selling rate is ridiculous taking this into consideration. PSP still has about less the user base and thus more time to grow.
The Wii's numbers won't pick up until late march - Aprilish when Monster Hunter G launches, and a few games like Muramasa come out. From then on it will have stronger sales until whenever Monster Hunter tri launches in the summerand then from there its anyones guess as to how it will hold up. Quote me on the fact that the high PS3 sales won't last more than a month from this date. There is no shift, its just big games coming out during a nintendo dry spell.

The wii has literally been selling on no games since Animal Crossing came out basically. It has nothing of relevancy in Japan coming out until end of march April when Monster Hunter G comes out. When it does come out the sales will rise, filler like Muramasa, Kizuna and Arc Rise Fantasia will basically sustain sales atleast until Tri launches. I don't think I've missed any games but I'm not sure actually.

We'll see. You're analysis could be right. But for gamers without a Wii, the incentive is already there. There doesn't need to be a "new" high profile game to sell the system. It's current library, popularity, and price is incentive enough. As for the PSP, I think it's sales are there to stay. Maybe handheld gamers are starting to buy PSPs as well now. And IF Japan chooses to go HD, it'll be with the PS3. No telling when that will happen though.Speak of the Wii numbers, my Wii is little more than an orniment lol, I've played it like 3 or 4 times and that was when I was in the process of completing SMGjonesy1911I'm dusting mine off for Mad World :).

The system has a presence in Japan and I don't see it going away. The numbers are inflated from normals but they won't drop much.
As far as Japan market goes, there is usually never a huge sales increase unless a relevant game comes out. Most games in Japan are front loaded and will sell 75% of there total sales in the first week. I don't see PS3 at 35000+ a week with no games after RE5 honestly. Japan going HD will probably happen but it won't really matter since most of the gamers will own both consoles. It'll come down to games and price and as surprising as that sounds, Nintendo would probablywin that department just by there first party which always sell well in Japan. I don't see the Ps3 dying off or anything ridiculous like that, I just don't really know at this point how it'll go after tri launches. FF13 will be the next huge game and it may be out this year whichwill be huge for the PS3 so we'lll see.
[QUOTE="nervmeister"][QUOTE="djsifer01"]PS3 sales are starting to soar in Japan a trend that i predict will carry over to the US and other countries over the next few years. yup. it's all about the games bro. the only reason the 360 outsold the PS3 for that week or two in japan was because of star ocean 4. it's way more popular there then here (which is a shame).
um like i said in an earlier post.
wii is on steady poles,
ps3 wont touch it im impressed with it now but come on ,
on us soil and other places wii is their top seller regardless,
mgs4 would have been the game to de thrown wii but did it, also note , yakuza is only a japn game sorry lol , not afecting wii us sales re5,

since when are system sales important to us gamespoters, if that weree the case wheres our money,
lol , do you actually believe gamespot gonna stiky this they should put a rule in that says dont talk about sales lol thatll be more better, than at that poi nt , there wont be any wars lol

I am happy that PS3 is getting better & better in terms of games library.. Never been much interested in units sold... i know sales are important since it helps getting devs attention in a system, but as i said i am happy seeing how Ps3's exclusive games library getting better which is what gamers should really be concerned about..
probably the sales momentum will be kept if Sony announce a price-cut later on this year... Price-cut + games = sales boost :)
Price-cut + games = sales boost :)Ture but you also have to take into account Price-cut+exclusive games(with agreegus budgets)= no profit margines.Malta_1980

Yeah. mainly its the games sony needs to focus on though. They said theyre not planning on a price cut, but making the ps3 a better value system. And imo its working. The ps3's game library is really good now, only this month I got Killzone 2 and SOCOM (released late in UK) and both are brilliant. And were only into march. Please Log In to post.
