WHEN ITS BAD ON PS3 GO TO PC
[QUOTE="leviathan91"]What he said.[QUOTE="nervmeister"][QUOTE="dr-venkman"]I have the Orange Box on 360. It isn't exactly a graphical beast. So why wouldn't cows blame this on EA? Even if PS3 is more difficult to program for, it's still EA's fault for not doing the best job they can. If the PS3 can handle Call of Duty 4, Assassins Creed(for the most part), Uncharted, and most likely Unreal Tournament 4 without a hitch... Orange Box should be no problem. EDIT: Unreal 3, not 4 lol JiveT
Yes, if the PS3 can handle those games, there shouldn't be a problem with the Orange Box. Still, why buy the console versions when the PC version is the best. :D
I just bought a $1000 laptop to replace my old desktop and it can't even run Farcry on the lowest settings at anything more than 15 fps. I didn't buy it to play games but still...kind of sad. That's why I don't get the PC version.
A normal PC wont cut it for something like that. What you want is a gaming PC, my friend.[QUOTE="leviathan91"]What he said.[QUOTE="nervmeister"][QUOTE="dr-venkman"]I have the Orange Box on 360. To save money?............ But then again, nowadays you have to buy an HDtv along with a new console in order to get the full next-gen image, so maybe the PC might be the better deal. (shrug)Well, if you own a high-end PC, get the Orange Box on the PC. Also, for $10, you can get Garry's Mod, which is well worth the price dispite that it's not included in The Orange Box.
If you don't own a high-end PC and you own a 360 and/or PS3, it's probably best to get the 360 version since Gabe has been complaining and bashing the PS3 like hell. Still, if the PS3 version is playable, you could get that version.
"With the clock ticking, EA has a limited amount of time to fix the glaring issues which plague this port of The Orange Box. Unfortunately, it seems that, once again, PlayStation 3 owners are doomed to suffer through another substandard version of a multiplatform game."
[QUOTE="BioShockOwnz"]PS3 can't handle it, of course.Warp_2567I can't see why, because Uncharted looks better than all of those games and it runs flawlessly with little load times.
As much as I want to agree, both games are different and while Uncharted has the graphics, The Orange Box is huge on both graphics and physics. I still can't see why Valve or E.A. can't make the PS3 version the same as the 360 version.
And there goes the last of 1up's credibility."With the clock ticking, EA has a limited amount of time to fix the glaring issues which plague this port of The Orange Box. Unfortunately, it seems that, once again, PlayStation 3 owners are doomed to suffer through another substandard version of a multiplatform game."

wow , this is even worse than orange box on 360naval
whats wrong with the 360 verison? i own it and haven't found a problem in any one of the games on the disc...
From 1up preview: http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3164539
Here's one of several damning quotes regarding this port: "this version suffers from a number of technical flaws, which at best merely hinder game play and at worst make the experience downright unplayable. Framerate is a consistent issue throughout the Half-Life series of games included in The Orange Box. One moment you'll be cruising through the game at 30 frames per second and the next you'll be enjoying a slideshow of series protagonist Gordon Freeman cruising down the river."

how can you not blame it on EA when you know that the PS3 is capable of running any game just like the 360. COD4 is virtually the same on both consoles and the orange box shouldn't be any different. It's definitely EA, not the PS3. there are numerous examples of how multiplats can perform very well on the PS3 when a good port job is done. Oblivion and Dirt are great examples of that.
[QUOTE="nervmeister"]And there goes the last of 1up's credibility.Forza_2Elaborate.
[QUOTE="nervmeister"]Onlyafter how you elaborate on how COD4 and Assassin's Creed (both multi-plats)failed so miserably on the PS3.Forza_2That is another topic. Explain to me what was wrong with 1up's comment."once again, PlayStation 3 owners are doomed to suffer through another substandard version of a multiplatform game."
Was Call of Duty 4 "substandard" on PS3? No!
Was Assassin's Creed "substandard" on PS3? No!
Was Oblivion "substandard" on PS3? Hell no!
Perhaps the only multiplat that was substandard on PS3 was FEAR. Yet 1up talks like that syndrome followed PS3 and infected the rest of these with mediocrity. And they couldnt be more wrong. Get it?

[QUOTE="flintgijoe"][QUOTE="naval"][QUOTE="Dusty-Ps3"][QUOTE="naval"]wow , this is even worse than orange box on 360naval
Or even worse Orange Box on the PC
every version worse than Orange box on PC ,that's expected , but being worse than 360's versions, that's a shame
*WARNING*
That totaly depends on your PC setup. Many gamers will have a much better experience on the 360. Most probably.
so ? someone who doesn't has a 360/pc, it would mean for him ps3 version is the best.
So because I drive a dilapidated 86' Monte Carlo with broken head lights, a rusting quarter-panel and cracked piston rings means that I have the best car in the world? Well that depends on which criteria you restrict that measurement to. Fastest, Most reliable, Lightest in weight and most expensive then no, its not the best regardless of what you think. In this case, TOB for PS3 will probably be worse than the other two if 1up.com isn't subject to biased editorials like they've been accused of in the past.

Wow! Who would have thunk it? A quick port of a PC game to the PS3 has issues. I mean, forget about the games we are seeing now where developers who actually spend time working on the PS3 the way it was meant to be developed for, are making some great games. They are even saying it is easy and "fun". Yep. Forget all those people and only listen to EA's issues with directly porting a PC game to completely different hardware.

Alright. They can blame Valve. There is nothing smashing about The Orange Box's performance. Many other games beat it by miles.
valve is one of the best developers out there. best physics engine.
They didnt make the physics engine :PHavok is its own.
Valve used it.
Don't blame EA? Why? Everyone assumed that EA would screw it up. They did. No surprise. It's sad that they did, though, since it's obvious from games like Uncharted that the game could have been great.osirisomeomi
Exactly. To try and say that the PS3 hardware is not sufficient enough to run a port of a 3 year old game is flat out ridiculous, and I am sure that most people with half a brain knows better when they look at PS3 exclusives like Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, Ratchet and Clank, and multiplats like COD4,The Darkness, ect.
I have a feeling that the TC said "do not blame EA" in his original post because even he knows that is exactly the problem here....not the PS3. As this thread is nothing but a hilarious, albeit sad attempt to try and use this an excuse to try and downplay the PS3's hardware capabilities. But again, anyone with half a brain cell left in their head would know better. So nice try, lol.

oblivion was released 6+ months after 360 release so it shouldnt matter....still it was exactly same....AC on 360 has WAY less problems then ps3 version...ask all ps3 AC owners and they will be crying about bug....yet 360 AC owners like meplayed and finished the game with no bugs detected....COD4 again best on 360...even IW admitted COD4 multiplayer on ps3 is broken buh buh buh teh free!?!?!

I bet a lot of PS3 fans will act like this game is not a big deal now even though Orange Box is one of the best games this yesr without a doubt.Eltroz
well, you bet wrong. look at the first few pages with all the cows bashing EA for the port. Doesn't look like they don't care.

Oh, please. I played Half Life 2 on a 3.0 Ghz P4 and a Radeon 9600 on 1 gig of RAM in 2003. I don't think it's a serious issue of technical limitations. It's an issue of chimps in space suits with dangerous objects.
Not likely. It came out in 2004...
