Seriously?
Heavy Rain?
I just don't see it.
you have no idea how amazing playing an adventure game with a joypad is! .aia89
Pc gamers who buy joypads do lol

Point and Click Adventure genre
Oh okay. Its really hard to call these types of games good adventure games. I would call it a different genre of its own actually.
you hermits are just jealous...aia89I'm sure PC gamers everywhere are just killing themselves in droves because they can't play Heavy Rain....
If consoles want the point and clikc genre I say take it, I don't like them anyway. I will trade it to them for good sports ports.
but we can't deny that Sony is covering pretty much all the genres with AAA titles.
rpg- Demon's Souls
action- GOW III
action adventure- UC, Infamous
adventure- Heavy Rain
platformers- LBP, R&C
shooters- Killzone 2
i guess that makes the ps3 the most complete system out there this gen
I agree with this. Sony has done a great job this gen with diversifying their exclusive portfolio. Even if they have lost a few exclusives in the process, they still seem way ahead of any other console in terms of variety of AAAE games.but we can't deny that Sony is covering pretty much all the genres with AAA titles.

Indigo Prophecy was awesome up until the end, and I'm quite excited for Heavy Rain, but it is in very few ways comparable to the classics of PC adventure gaming, and even if it were, one game, no matter how good, does not beat the entire two decades of rich catalog of adventure games which the PC has.

Really?...I feel that it's essential for PC gamers to try Grim Fandago or The Longest Journey at least once in their' lifetime.

Point and Click Adventure genre
It's hardly a point an click adventure game - if it's anything like the horribly disappointing Indigo Prophecy, the number of actiony 'press x to not die' sequences will outnumber the puzzle solving sequences 10:1.
I don't know what genre you'd call it, but you can't really compare it to something like Machinarium.

Disregard the "Point and Click" part then..

What was wrong with the press x to not die sequences? I thought they were pretty well done because of how cool it looked. From adventure gameplay perspective it looks pretty mediocre. The story might be good, but so far Quantic Dreams' stories always have fallen apart about halfway through the game. I'm sure it will be a nice game, but next year Grey matter will be out on PC and Jane Jensen has more adventure gaming talent in one of her fingers than entire staff of Quantic Dreams has in their whole bodies. What's more... there are literaly dozens adventure games released each year on PC, if not more. One game, no matter how good won't change that. It would be like claiming PC has caught up to consoles in fighting genre just because Street Fighter IV was released on PC too

No simulators, no puzzle, no MMO, no strategy. ? All genres? lmao
Which genre now? Been looking at screens/footage, looks like The Sims and some quick-time events. Man I dunno how I'll cope...

QFT. The one thing consoles will never be great at, RTS.

I enjoyed what I played of Longest Journey mostly because you got to control your movement like a normal game. I may be wrong, it's been a while but I know in Dreamfall I did move around on ym own for sure.
i rememeber nomad soul, brilliant game, but you get to a point and the pacing changes completely and it feels like they ran out of ideas half way through, the second part felt too rushed, you reach a point and it stars proppelling you to the end at light speed, good game thoughFrom adventure gameplay perspective it looks pretty mediocre. Actually the PS3 supports kb/m so if a dev took the time to do it, they could make a GREAT RTS. I just wouldn't hold my breath.Doesn't have any snowboard nor RTS exclusives. Fail. 360 is a lot more diverse genre-wise.but we can't deny that Sony is covering pretty much all the genres with AAA titles.
