Way better then the stupid pressure sensitive face buttons on PS2. There is a reason that every other console uses pressure sensitive triggers instead.
AndyAlfredo
What do you mean? How are pressure sensitive buttons stupid? The first console I was aware of that used a pressure sensitive triggers anyway was the original Xbox, which isn't every other console.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gamepad#Dreamcast The dreamcast was the first console controller to use presure sensitive triggers. (I only bothered to get wikipedia as a source but as long as the article isn't vandalized I don't think it would have false information) And if you scroll down on it you get to see more controllers. And for the PS2 all but the start, select, L3, and R3 buttons were presure sensitive. I can't compare the triggers to the 360's triggers since I have never played a 360. But I have to say once I get used to the triggers on the PS3's controller I found out how more precise (in games that used the presure sensitiveity) they were compared to the old ones. And I believe the PS3's controller still has presure sensitive face buttons. And if you complain about Sony not doing major changes to the controller, blaim the "cows" for raging about the "boomerang" shaped controller. For me I say yay, but since I can't remember using a 360's controller I have no real thing to compare it to.It's about freedom and giving us the ability to stretch out are fingers. Having a big battery back stick out like that completely restrict your fingers' movement. Just thinking about it annoys me.[QUOTE="dark-warmachine"]
[QUOTE="CuteCakes"] I have a 360 pad right besides me and when I hold it my fingers don't touch the battery pack...lazerface216
the battery pack restricts absolutely NOTHING. have you used a 360 controller before?
Yes it does. It restricts the movement of the fingers that are not in use. You just need to pay attention.[QUOTE="lazerface216"]

Yes it does. It restricts the movement of the fingers that are not in use. You just need to pay attention. If your fingers aren't in use then what are you worried about them being restricted for? The battery pack restricts nothing; you can easily put your fingers on top of it.In fact your fingers rest along side the battery pack quite comfortably. The 360 controller is the most comfortable controller I have ever used, especially over long periods of time. It fits in the hand perfectly. excluding the dpad there are few controllers that come close imo.if they annoy you like they do me you can just buy the aftermarket triggers like i did.
it does not fix the other probs i have with the controller but at least it fixes that.

I don't want this to seem like I'm nitpicky because there isalso the option to choose the wired one so I don't want people to get the wrong impression. In terms of the battery pack itself, I agree that the fingers not in use do rest along the side of the batter pack quite naturally but sometimes people like to stretch there hands outa bit from time to time and not keep it at one stationary position. For example, your fingers can curve into a fist quite naturely but you wouldn't want that to be the only position, and sure youcan rest your fingures behind the batterpack for more freedom but that just ackward and feels like your not grabbing the controller properly.[QUOTE="dark-warmachine"]

They werent thought out at all... An example of what happens when sony tries something original when it comes to controller design...
RogueShodown
like that boomerang controller.
Like the original Xbox controller. See wut I did thar? at least MS had the stones to admit a mistake quickly release the S controller. But they werent done there. Even the 360 controller is a huge improvement..They're fine. They aren't terrible, only people who say that are the ones trying to find a niche in the console war. Just like People who complain about the 360 Dpad.
its terrible for fps. then when you switch to L1,R1 and it feels sooo old. way too last gen compared to the 360. how ever i enjoy in for racing games. it feels right for that.

For me its like
PS3 is best, except its controller sucks because they haven't changed it in 15 years, and its not ergonomic in any way. 360 controller is my favorite ever, II like the PS3 better, but the controller is just terrible.

Yeah, it's a good thing PS3 isn't big on shooters.
really? could've fooled me.

They're equal when it comes to FPS for me. I never had a problem playing COD4 on the PS3. If you care so much about the triggers, you can find a USB controller that works on the PS3.you just gotto do what I did with mine. slap some real triggers on your ps3 controller:
http://www.amazon.com/PS3-Dual-Triggers-Playstation-3/dp/B001IAOEXU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1281673122&sr=8-1
roughly 5 bucks. and I've heard best buy sells em for 3 bucks. they just snap on like in the diagram.

I'm afraid he's right. There's two opinions on the matter here. People who only own a PS3 that will say the Dual Shock, and people who own both that will say the Xbox 360. The ergonomics, triggers, button/stick placement are all superior. The only thing that sucks on the Xbox 360 controller is the D-pad which in all honestly isn't used that often.[QUOTE="MrJack3690"][QUOTE="Espada12"]

For the record, I own both (PS3 is out of commission at the moment though) and I have no preferences between the two. Both feel and work great imo.
Edit: Also, I'm not trying to single you out. I feel the same for the people who think "x controller is obviously greater than y controller" and vice versa.

I own both I can switch back and forth, but at the end of the day if I had to choose DS3 all the way.
Actually there are a few things I find worse on the DS3 than its 360 counterpart; the weight is too light IMO, Dpad is the least ergonomic thing in history (I'm getting calluses on my thumb thinking about it - its not 1994 anymore Sony) and the triggers. 360 on the other hand has the awful Dpad, but replace it with the Sega Saturns and you'd have the perfect control pad.CuteCakes
Except the shoulder buttons and face buttons on the 360 controller are lame. I feel like I have to punch the face buttons to get them to work at times.
D-Pad is a joke as well, and I hate the battery back on the back. Way too much needed to keep the damn thing running. Built in battery is easy to charge, and my Sixaxis from my 60gig PS3 of almost 5+ years has yet to die on me from constant use. However, I drop my 360 controller once, and the battery pack shatters, and now has to be mended with duct tape to keep it working. Built in > Battery Pack, imo.
The only thing I dislike about the PS3 controller are how frail the analog can feel, and the triggers can be annoying ONLY when playing some shooters. As far as Fighting Game, Hack n' Slash, Racing, and Platformers go, I'd use my DS3 > 360 controller anyday.
the whole controller is what has stopped me from buying the ps3
larryb007
If that is your only reason...simply ridiculous.
You know they sell little clip on things you can buy for like 4.99 that make the L2R2 curved like the 360 controller.....
Thus, making your excuse obsolite.
I own both and besides the r2 button getting stuck in one position for some unexplainable reason,DS3 ftw =P The 360 triggers are better but i hate the size, the D-pad the analog positions *insert cow rant about fingers disappearing into the battery pack here* but at the end of the day i can use either no big deal
I bought the extended triggers for all my DS3's for about £1.99 each...It improves the controller unbelievably.
The shoulder area, along with the dpad, are the areas where the sony controller has the xbox one beat.
They're horrible. If Sony were to remodel the triggers to be more like the 360's and put the left analog stick where the d-pad is, they would have a much better controller.
