PS3 trophies are pointless

I dont bother with them much what pisses Ol' Jack off, is when one pops I think "whats this for ? I'll check". Then it takes 30 seconds to sinc with the server.Jack-Burton

Just press triangle on the trophy option and set it to offline mode so it won't sync every time you wanna check.

What about high scores in arcade games? They useless aswell?

I like achievements because they encourage you to do extra challenges, get a bit more out of the game. I'm sure trophies are the same.

Exclusive avatars are pointless. It's just a picture that other people see when they look at your profile.

What's the point of any of this? Trophies and achievements are mostly pointless.

They're just a measure of how much you play.

lol so are achievments their both the same ,  the only difference one is a number the other is a trophy ,  

 they both do not allow you to spend them on anything on any store their just there for the bragging rights if you wanna call it that lol 

I like the concept of Trophies (and Achievements), but it would be cool to see some type of rewards system in place. Actually, when I first bought a 360 I thought that gamerscore could be used as credits on the XBL Marketplace, lol. :P

I wonder if Sony will allow PS3 users to transfer their IDs to PS4, like MS is doing with X1?

Yes trophies/achievments should unlock content or give you some kind of credits which later you can redeem somewhere/somehow!

PS: lol @ people saying that trophi/achiev are indicators of your skills... they're simply indicators of your farming abilities! Only like a tiny % of them truly requires skills.

seriously , there is no real reason to get them except moving a progress bar and increasing a number in your player card , they could give us something for trophies like exclusive avatars , contents etc. based on your player level , what do you think ? is there currently any reason to get them except of obsession? what would you do to give trophies a real reason?

Of course nobody would care because there would be nobody alive too care. Until that happens let's indulge in what really matters, like the value of trophies et al/etc :P
