I have battled through ME for a good 5 months, but i absolutely hate the Mako, and it ruins the game for me.
I dont ever think ill beat it.... :(
so i dont think Ps3 owners are missing out on much. i never played 2 so i cant comment on that..

Knowing EA, that collection would probably cost a fortune. It would still be worth it though. However ME1 was available for 10$ in many places (on the 360) so I guess it's not impossible. If they sell that ME collection for only 60$ it would be the greatest collection with a value that rivals the Orange Box. Day one buy for me.It can (i think) be ported you know. Plus the trilogy can fit on one Blu ray disc.
Lets just say they take up the whole disc...
ME1: 9GB
ME2: 18GB
ME3:18GB
= 45GB
Blu Ray Disc Dual Layer = 50GB.....with 5GB to spare..

I hated the Mako too, which is why they did away with it. IMO it's best to just go through the main plot and forget scavanging planets with the Mako.

.. That doesn't work that way what so ever.. Largely the amount of space taken up by games on Bluray are uncompacted textures and sounds..
This is not about exclusives. At this point I do want BioWare to make a ps3 Port of Mass Effect. I'm that big of a BioWare fan boy and I only have a 360. Heck, mu PC can play it if I had more memory. After playing mass effect 2 I no long care about console exclusivity. It that good.360 Users are missing out W/ Uncharted

captain obvious to the rescue, this was true regardless of what happened in ME2 (did people really think the series would end with ME2 or something?)
the difference is how renegade and paragon choices throughout the trilogy affect the ending (likely choices to save the council, save the rachni etc. in ME1 and choices in ME2 regarding the collectors and geth and etc. will all culminate in ME3)
not to mention in ME2 is any indication, ME3 will lack a lot of content unless you import a finished ME2 character (much like how a lot of extra content doesn't exist in ME2 unless you import an ME1 character)

Its kind of funny how hard people try to make the 360 hardware superior.
Like trying to make an argument that a honda civic has more horsepower than a ferrari f-40.

if you really believe the hardware difference between the 360 and PS3 is like a civic vs. f-40 then no wonder consolites are so delusional
in reality the consoles are more like mini-vans and the PC is a formula 1 race car
Yeah, if you don't own a compatible PC or 360 you're missing out on an engrossing adventure that you won't want to end :D. I could say the same about other games too though.
EDIT: Though, I do think there's a good chance of it coming to PS3 some time. Maybe with Mass 1&2 on a single BD fro $60!
I just beat Mass Effect 2 on PC about 2 hours ago. While I do find the Mass Effect series to be an enjoyable series, it's the kind of games that I can't play more than 1-2 hours at a time MAX before falling asleep from sheer boredom of so much BLA BLA BLA. I wanted to have the full experience so I pretty much talked to everyone and JESUS CHRIST sometimes there's way way waaaayy too much useless chatter.
The gunplay wasn't bad but nothing really great. Definitely doesn't compare to third person shooters such as Uncharted and Gears of Wars (not that it really should, it's an rpg/shooter)
In conclusion, if you're a fan of these kinds of games, they're really great games. If you're not much of a fan of talking, prepare for a borefest.

IT'S...A...RPG..... OF COURSE THEIR IS GOING TO BE LOTS OF DIALOGUE But Bioware takes it to the next level. My brother even commented "You know, everytime I walk in on you on your computer, I see you with your arms crossed, reading...do you ever actually play this game?" and he was right. Bioware needs to learn to be mre concise with their dialog, or at the very least add A lot more combat sequences so players aren't bored to death with the abundance of dialog. You spend more time reading than playing in Mass Effect, and that's no fun. And it's not like the dialog is exactly riveting stuff expressed in stellar cutscenes. All you see is your avatar standing there talking for 30min, then you drive around a barren planet for 30min inspecting random junk, and then you have a fight scene that lasts 15 seconds. That's horribly disproportinate.[QUOTE="dreman999"][QUOTE="Eggimannd"]IT'S...A...RPG..... OF COURSE THEIR IS GOING TO BE LOTS OF DIALOGUE But Bioware takes it to the next level. if you're talking about ME1 then yeah, the dialogue issue with that game was that it was un-naturally delivered
as in, rather than a character talk about their personal experiences and how they talk about their knowledge it's delivered at face-value to the player, letting the player delve into tons of back-story dialogue if they so choose
but to be fair, it's mostly optional, the game always gives you the dialogue option to simply ram through conversations like an out of control train, with the downside being you lost a lot of context
that's something that was worked on in ME2, backstory is delivered in spurts where characters will only talk about so-much before they usually "have to get back to work" or sometimes they say "but i don't want to bore you" (kind of a wink wink to ME1)... and the dialogue has a lot more personality to it and when they do go into some backstory they do it shorter and more to the point, and there's a lot more combat and zero driving around
it was a good idea in the first game, but on its own can get kinda tedious if you're a completionist type
edit: but it IS an rpg, not an action title, some rpg purists even say the Mass Effect series has too little story...
It can (i think) be ported you know. Plus the trilogy can fit on one Blu ray disc.
Lets just say they take up the whole disc...
ME1: 9GB
ME2: 18GB
ME3:18GB

Blu Ray Disc Dual Layer = 50GB.....with 5GB to spare..
one, nobody knows when or how big ME3 will be. By next gen, I believe Xbox will use larger capacity. So ME3 will probably be bigger than 18 gigs, imo. They can be ported and will, I believe. ME2 and the underrated first as well as the novels are experiences anyone interested in our chosen passion should not miss. You mean ME2 right? PS3 only users aren't missing out much for ME1... DaViD_99
Seriously... I was going to play both games on the PC, but the first game was ridiculously boring.
I'm sure the second one is better, but not worth my time.

It fitting on one Blu-Ray isn't proof of anything, but can you find me a single EA property on the 360 that has been excluded from the PS3?ME was a extremelly boring game IMO, only the fan boys over hyped it like it was the most amazing experience. I had more fun playing wii sports then that
I'm gonna be honest, I havent played Mass Effect 2 yet, but Mass Effect 1 can get pretty monotonous real fast. The side quests consist of you going to barren planets and just "inspecting" random objects or what not, and maybe if you get lucky, they might throw one enemy out there for you to shoot. And Bioware really needs to learn to be concise. In every single Bioware game (especially my much hated Knight of the Old Republic series) you spend 90% of your time hearing boring monotonous dialog. I understand story is important, but I wish they evened out the dialog by adding more combat sequences. And I hate the Codex system. I hate when games expect you to read the history of the game world. Like in Resistance with the intel documents and what not. Good writers should find a way to tell you everything relevant to the story withing the general story sequences, not have you inspect things just so you can get a codex update.
Oh yeah and biotic powers look lame. Come on Bioware, give us something to look at. All the biotic abilities look like minor variations of the same special effect. Real boring, and 4 weapon classes, with each weapon in each class practically looking the same? And 90% of the armor being nothing more than a paint job? A bit lazy if you ask me. It's a good game, don't get me wrong, but it gets a lot of undue love around these parts.
well said. i cant disagree but me1 and me2 are two of my favorite gamesI just picked the game up and I have to say that it is one of the most enjoyable games I've played in a while.
