Ps3/360 price dropped at the same time...Why has PS3 sold 1.5 million MORE since

I don't really think it was a price drop for the xbox 360, was just the dropped a sku since it wasn't needed. It is more like the system just got more HDD space.

The 360 has been on the market for a much cheaper price for a while now. It would make more sense that people who want a 360 are more likely able to afford one or are willing to get one. So with the price drop for the ps3, those who wanted to get it but couldnt or were on the fence are more likely to get one.

Simply, more people have 360, less people to buy it.

Also, blue ray is the leading HD format, if not the only one now so why not get a machine that can play blue-ray movies and do some other stuff?

Because the PS3 has Bluray, charge and play controllers, WiFi, internet browser, free online gaming, way more reliable,and comes in a Slim version.

The price drop brought it neck and neck with the Black 360 pricewise, but it does more for less.

Because Sony also uped their marketing campaign at the same time and the PS3s price drop is probably seen as more significant considering it was always the less affordable console._Cadbury_

This. The campaign for the PS3 right now is dynamite. Also, being at the same price, the PS3 is a better deal and people realize it.

I have no idea. Uncharted , Ratchet , and Demon's Souls are niche properties. How are they selling more systems than Halo , GTA , L4D , and Forza can on more affordable systems ? Blu-ray players are like so cheap thatI can find the money for one in my couch , so that can't be it.Perhaps it is elpresadorgetting the best of mld on youtube ?

Only the elite dropped in price, and I believe it was only by $50 not $100.

i didnt get a ps3 till the price dropped i always wanted a ps3 so i got one i wouldve got one at release but 600 dollarsi dont think so sony so i waited and waited and now im happy

Because Sony knows how to make great electronics. Their Desktops and Laptops are Superior to all others (not including Macs).

Because Sony decided they were willing to lose even more money on hardware to sell consoles.

The 360 didn't have a real price drop. They should have kept the 60GB system and sold it for $199, and dropped the Arcade to $150 or $120. That would have sold more 360's than dropping the Elite to $299.LoseEagles1245

I doubt that MS can afford dropping the price of the arkade SKU anymore any remainingt profitable.

Why do you need a source everyone knows that 360 elite got a $100 price cut and PS3 slim price tag is $299 so that means it got $100 price cut too

Because he wants to know about the so called 1.5 million gap that the PS3 has closed with the 360 in the TC thread. I don't believe it also. The ps3 is doing well but not 750K more in 2 months WW better.

Some have touched on it earlier, but people have been waiting for a PS3 price-cut for much longer. So it was much bigger news.

there was no price drop cows. Eliminating the pro, and replacing it with the elite is not the same as a price drop because there was ALWAYS a 299 unit, and thats the way consumers will see it. When MS drops the price after the holidays, we will see how much you guys run off at the mouth then..........but my guess it will be "teh MS is desperate" :roll:navyguy21

MS just phased out the Pro model to have the Elite take it's place, so no, it wasn't a real price drop.

because the xbox isnt as good as the ps3 and only sells when the ps3 is more expensive...?

now that the price is the same is normal for the ps3 to ousold it,even when m$ has the arcade model which(according to m$, google it)accounted to half of xboxs sold at last years bfriday...if it waren't for that then the sale difference would be very great,the arcade model is holding m$ not the "quality of xbox as a game console". so price basically kept the 360 end of stoy and wait for this months NPD and decembers.

check posts of xboxs owners,the games they buy or want to buy are multiplatform or availble at the pc,most wanted xbox game mw2?thats everywhere and i can play it for free on pc and on ps3.the ps3 has console games that you need the ps3 to play.uncharted,mgs4,gow3,kz2 p.also incoming heavy rain and the last guardian and the agent.

i see some lists of exclusive for xbox and when you remove the multiplatforms is 1-2 games..htats why when is equally priced the ps3 wins..and thats why xbox owners say "wait for the next pricedorp"beacuse sony droped the price and came equal with m$(and m$ has the cheapish arcade)in turn m$ has to cut the price to be lower than sony,to reflect the quality offered...

Anyway I think people seem to forget that the same day the $100 price drop was announced for the PS3 the Slim was announced. A whole new system might sell some consoles...just a guess though....
