The problem seems to be that if devs want to devote more than 256 mb to graphics, they can do so on 360 but not PS3. But Uncharted KZ2, and MGS4 do look better than what I've seen 360. So how do those devs compensate for the lack of available RAM for the graphics? teh cell? And why wouldn't Sony just unify the RAM for dev simplicity and just use the cell for even more superiority?Deathtransit
wrong, the ps3's gpu can take information directly from system memory. The only real advantage that the 360 has is the OS's foot print and if it uses more system ram then graphics.

*thumbs up* What the 360 fanboys dont realize is that the Cell's XDR memory is completely sharable. Moreover, it's 3.2ghz speed just like the Cell processor itself. Big advantage over 360's 700mhz gddr3.They're even. Let's just leave it at that.carljohnson3456Not according to any place thats reviewed multiplats on both consoles... BIOSHOCK anyone?

Big advantage over 360's 700mhz gddr3. It's not that simple. One can't simply say higher Mhz RAM > low Mhz RAM due to such things as latency, memory width, and bus bandwidth.[QUOTE="savagetwinkie"][QUOTE="Deathtransit"]The problem seems to be that if devs want to devote more than 256 mb to graphics, they can do so on 360 but not PS3. Big advantage over 360's 700mhz gddr3.Did you know that the memory chips in XDR are actually clocked at 400 Mhz? If you don't understand the difference between XDR listing its datarate vs. Gddr3 listing its actual clockspeed, you have NO business talking about this topic. Also, being sharable does not mean that there are no performance penalties, so while the GPU can indeed use the XDR it isn't as fast as accessing it directly nor using the GDDR3.PS3s biggest problem is people like you who dont know what there talking about spreading false rumors. Learn how the hardware works and you will see that its power is unmatched with its competion. Mutiplats that look worse on PS3 are lazy ports by dervs who dont want to utilize any of PS3s hardware nothing more.djsifer01The ONLY people who think the PS3 is the ubermachine are those who DON'T understand how hardware works. Yes, this would include you. You state things like this all the time, yet have not one time ever been able to supply a rational logical technical explaination of why you think the way you do.

And ps3 devs are very heavily pressured to make graphics look so good. Take note. When gears came out,( when everyone was all about the 360 ) and everyone was like omg gears looks so gooood!! adn then its like the graphics from there on are like okay...
