So everyone is following nintendo in terms of having a GPGPU.

Except the WiiU's GPGPU is incredibly weak and inferior compared to what 720 and PS4's GPGPU's will be.
Lems and Cows will show you sheep how its done. ;)

I'd gladly pay $599 for a console that is cutting edge with a 7 year life span. In fact, I was a little letdown the wiiu was so cheap.$599 us dollers

Day fuking 1. When the PS3 came out in the UK, it was £425 which at the time was about 800$... just saying.$599 us dollers

Wii U is over-priced...
A console should be 199 bucks or 299 max.
Like it was in the 16-bit/32-bit/64-bit/128-bit gen.
Dreamcast costed only 199 or so and it blew away the best PCs when it came out...
I blame (useless) DVD and blu-ray playback, hard drives and expensive controllers for the rise of costs...

The controller obviously makes a lot of Wii U pricetag, but imo its well worth it. We wouldnt till this day have analog sticks on controllers if Nintendo wasnt innovating afterall.

an innovation is when you bring something new, not when you copy it from another source. Nintendo weren't the first one to bring analog sticks to the console market and this has been disscussed to death through the years since the early 2000.

I know they werent the first to do it, but they were the first to do it right, and thats what counts.

I'd be willing to bet that with inflation, the 32bit consoles were around $500. The consumer, today, is also willing to spend more on electronics. I see children with iPads all the time. An iPad ranges from $400 to $800, I believe(paid $730 for mine), and are outdated within a year or two. Spending the $500 on a game console is not so bad--it is the game prices that are astronomical. I firmly believe we will see $499, and $549 skis for both the ps4 and Xbox.[QUOTE="nameless12345"][QUOTE="Heirren"] I'd gladly pay $599 for a console that is cutting edge with a 7 year life span. Most people aren't gamers and gaming consoles are not high on their priority lists.
Besides, if you're a gamer, you can get a pretty decent gaming PC or make a good upgrade for that money.

Last time I checked gaming was huge--it's even bigger than the film industry, now. Game consoles are a proven market, as well. People understands that it's a safe 5+ year life cycle. How are you making such claims? Didn't Black Op 2 just break a bunch of sales records?[QUOTE="nameless12345"][QUOTE="Heirren"] I'd be willing to bet that with inflation, the 32bit consoles were around $500. That's the attempt, for sure, as it gives publishers more control. However, it also requires more variables to succeed. I don't think the Internet environment is there yet, even today. Not only that, but there are other legalities to a change like that. 3rd parties bank on DLC. Legally this could not exist anymore. I think eventually consumer will catch on to how they are being slyly taken advantage of--I have a hunch that there will be a backlash next gen, when the envelop is pushed even further than what is going on now. Please Log In to post.
