Who honestly thought using kinect instead of a conventional headset was a good idea? You'll have to yell at the thing to actually get people to hear you.

[QUOTE="GOGOGOGURT"]Using kinect for it is stupid beyond belied But i wouldnt expect anything less from Microsoft. Its Microsoft. All they know how to do is make stupid decisions If you are sitting far away from your kinect it wont pick your voice up etc There areany more issues too There is also the fact that the Kinect always has to be on. Now consider that Microsoft was the FIRST to sogn up for NASA's spying programs. Put two and two togetherYeah it uses kinect. Sounds kind of cool actually, love how you can switch from audio and video.
I actually like this idea better than a headset. Interesting that MS is the only company innovating this gen. And nintendo, to an extent.

Come to think of it....most people are going to put the kinect near the speakers of the TV. Even if the sound is directional it would still pick up the television speaker in a small room. Never mind the fact that most of us don't want everyone in the house hearing the kind of stuff said over Xbox Live.
 at that pathetic PS4 headset  Im gonna but a Turtle Beach or Astro headset anyways. I <3 the Turtle Beach headset I have now for 360. Its been 3 years and it still works perfectly. mems_1224
My Pulse Elites blow your shitty Turtles away. Plus I can use them with my phone without looking like a dork.
Really hope my Turtle Beaches will work ... Those look rubbish.JasonDarksavior
They won't work on Xbox One...thats already been made pretty clear.

cool story bro.[QUOTE="mems_1224"][QUOTE="voicereason"] Its that too. I agree Microsoft is always trying to under cut the consumer for as much profit as possible. And you know what? It's still the same! A headset is not needed UNLESS you play online excessively or in clans or whatever. Is it bad to include one? No. I'll take it, but I don't think I'll use it a lot. BTW When I saw the picture above I was like, wow this looks sexy.Sheens last gen: Who needs a headset? no one wants to talk online thats so last generation, if someone wants a headset they'll buy it.

I can see that Mems has started yet another damage control campaign LOL
Poor Lems, they're getting slaughtered by Sony
actually from the link it says they may have new features such as using stereo sound to have directional chat audio in multiplayer which would actually be pretty coollamprey263Is that the same thing that ps3 did with Socom Confrontation? In that game, you could press a button to talk to your team, or talk normal and it would come through the tv and echo in the game and stuff like you guys were talking in a room. The enemy could hear you too that way, depending how close they were, so you had to whisper sometimes. You could also troll them, like if there was one guy left and you knew he was hiding in a room, you could tell him come out and play, stop being a pssy lol. That kind of feature only works in certain games like that though. It would be a mess in a respawn games like COD and most games. Pointless in sports games. Most games you could already hear other people anyways through the mic.
yeee, not going to be using that.campzorI'll probably still use my Socom mic, it's still kicking almost 5 years later. PS4 still supports bluetooth, right? I'm guessing the controller is bluetooth.

it's better than nothing, and at least I can use my Turtle Beach headphones from current gen on PS4.[QUOTE="xsubtownerx"]Nice looking 2$ headphones. drakekratos
Xbox will not be compatible with current gen headphones.
Reading comprehension is not one of the lems' strengths. It was just microsoft being cheap....it makes no sense for a console absolutely driven around internet connection to lack a headset. mems_1224
IT will be catching 40 year old pervs like you whacking off Masturbation isn't a crime tho Exactly:) But if the Kinect caught you it would be kept and stored Any one or company could get that video to humilate you Its already been confirmed that Microsoft is going to sell "info" it gathers from its sheep...i mean "users" to advertisers etc You see where im going with this[QUOTE="voicereason"][QUOTE="mems_1224"] Good, people shouldn't have secrets. Can't say I'm upset about getting a cheap-looking headset for free when Xbots are forced to pay an extra $100 for a voice-detecting camera.
[QUOTE="drakekratos"]You underestimate the quality of Sony's manufacturing. They don't make cheap shit.< The PS2 says hi. and the ps1....*remembers having to turn his upside down to get it to read disks*[QUOTE="xsubtownerx"] Actually, nothing would have been better in this case.mems_1224
[QUOTE="Chutebox"]Also, from what I understand xbox will use Kinect for a headphone?drakekratos
That is HORRIBLE.
Kinect as a headphone? LOL. All that means is you will hear other peoples TV's, Crying Babies, Parents yelling, White noise, etc.... Gamers will literally have to yell at their Kinect from across the room, just so others can hear them in Call of Duty.
Wait so here it is again. One of the points cows shrugged off with ps3 and 360 comparisons is now important? My lord. Get real with it guys. Play games on anything, if possible everything.[QUOTE="drakekratos"][QUOTE="Chutebox"]Also, from what I understand xbox will use Kinect for a headphone?cainetao11

A lot of 360 gamers are now looking to be PS4 owners now so not surprising that aspects that were previously important to Xbox players are now important to people looking towards the PS4.[QUOTE="Chutebox"]Also, from what I understand xbox will use Kinect for a headphone?drakekratos

It'll probably filter out external sounds and focus on your vocals within a frequency range like mobile phones and what they were trying to do with the original Kinect. It's really not that hard.
Also you're about to hear a lot of whiny kids and obnoxious people on your online games now. Having a headset with your console has a downside. If you think the crowd on Xbox live was like that for any other reason than 'everyone has a headset' you're about to find out.

Also the PS2 controller. I remember I got a second hand PS2 and a brand new controller, to play the old Ace Combat games, it didn't feel great and analogue buttons are a complete joke compared to the analogue triggers on an Xbox pad.
Will my 3.5mm headset be useless again because of no 3.5mm microphone jack? :x
Does anyone know if usb will be usable for audio/mic, I think ps3 only allows mic to go through if you plug a usb headset into it.
