Can you read? It specifically says that it won't be in the day one patch and will be added at a later time.

If you look at past releases of Sony consoles (ps3,psp) there are also features missing at launch that were patched in later. If you did not expect this then...

But it is a little odd that what seems more like a hardware feature is not being supported. Perhaps the suspend/resume is being tweaked to be more secure or something. Maybe it still has to go through some kind of bootloader before it resumes to verify the ram has not been messed with and perhaps they are trying to make that process go more smoothly. I would think Sony are much more on the ball security wise ever since their console and network service was hacked.

Just a thought, rushed would be to put the feature in incomplete and get problems later.

So you would rather be able to upload videos to facebook than have your system be able to suspend and resume instantaneously, saving you money on electricity?

I never realised the PS3 didn't have multiple log-ins until reading about internet being required to play DVDs and Blu-rays on the PS4 - I've only ever used the PS3 for single player games.

Still, not having suspend/resume won't bother me - I unplug my electronic devices and have no issue waiting for them to boot up.

The only thing that won't be similar is the difference between multiplats

And the X1 doesn't have the TV features in my region at launch and is missing half the Kinect features in most regions. Given the way they based their entire first presentation on those two points mainly, i think that's quite a bit worse...

Not available in certain regions =/= not available in all regions.

When the TV stuff is only available in NA, it might as well be. Kinect is only available in 4 regions. When these are two of MS' biggest selling points i think it's far greater in significance.

There's stuff missing at launch that's available on 360, use of real names isn't available, some of the game DVR stuff is limited to only sharing on Xbox Live apparently too with youtube and Facebook uploading to be patched in.

There's some serious straw grasping here as the X1 has as many if not more stuff delayed and awaiting to be patched in.

While I don't think this is the end of the world or anything, there is something to be said about Sony saying no internet connection required, having all of these features NOT available for launch (Blu-ray, party chat??) and one of there next gen features of instant resume being scheduled for later release.

And people claim Microsoft is the one not to be trusted and evil and yet here they are defending sony. At least Microsoft tells it how it is and adjusts to the market accordingly.

exactly. i was going to get a PS4 at launch but now I'm not. I'm not paying full price for an incomplete device. I'll wait till they get their ish together as far as games an functionality. But to those who want to get a launch console the xbone might just be the best option. PS4 is looking more like a 2014 purchase every day.

Every day cows make it look better and better. It was the opposite during the E3 and the reveals, but now Sony and their fanboys are making gamers see the XB1 in a favorable light. Preorders for XB1 are increasing every week. The rest of this year should be fun, but next holiday is going to be epic for XB1.

Its a more important feature than letting users use their real names imo, but still not a big deal.

This is getting ridiculous...Both sides need to chill out. Sony had features come in (and out) through the generation and so did Microsoft. Why this is a shock to anyone is just plain lunacy. So a console can't fall asleep, big deal just turn it off. You actually save more power when it's off then when it's asleep, since you don't require power to maintain the info in memory. I like suspend mode, but most likely won't use it since suspend mode on most devices end up running into stability issues when resuming, hence why the feature still needs work. If it works on xbox, great! MS has experience with this sort of thing on PC's and they're launching later, giving them more time to address any issues.

Yeah that struck me as odd as well when I first read it, that a simple suspend-resume feature, something that the 360 currently has, will not be available at launch even after the day 1 patch? Sounds like November 15 could be one messy day....hopefully no consoles will be bricked.
