Nice try Lems...maybe next time.

Had this been an X1, I doubt there'd be anywhere near as many people blaming the plastic case it was in or suggesting this was clearly an error in how it was housed. Sony gets a pass yet again where MS would have been torn to shreds by every gaming outlet and forum on the planet.
And this is a bad thing? When it gets too hot it shuts down stopping further damage. Those idiots just had it in a small box of course its going to overheat.
Yeah, after spending over £400 on a launch 60GB PS3 (plus whatever my first model 360 cost) it's pretty safe to assume there's no chance of me buying either of the HD twins new offerings until at least a year into their life cycles. The failure rates were absolutely ridiculous this gen.
+1
Don't get why so many people rush out to launch, especially when those systems are always the most faulty. Hell by holiday season next year, that's when they start doing the good bundles.

For various reasons... One being one of the first to play and use it.
Heck, a lot of people have been anticipating for next gen and people are forking out for it.

All I'm seeing is multiplats I can just as easily play on the PS3 I already own. Killzone and Ryse aren't exactly making me excited.

it's hard to deny something when there are pictures. Unless those pictures were shopped?
But the console doesn't die though, it only shuts-down to prevent damage from heat. Maybe Yoshida is just playing semantics here... Who knows but once the console is released its reliability will speak for itself. But still, I'm very concerned about my PS4 pre-order now... Even if it shuts-down to prevent damage it still means that it overheats.
A photo has surfaced showing a demo PS4 console overheating and displaying what has been dubbed “the red line of death.” The picture was taken at a PS4 event in Spain and posted by Elotrolado member Homer J. Simpson in his report of the event. He says (translated from Spanish) “it had a red light (where the typical blue LED light) and had a message on the screen saying that the console had a very high temperature. The security case was opened and in two seconds the error message was removed and the light had returned to its normal color. “
There have been various reports of PS4 consoles crashing during recent demonstrations but hopefully these issues will be sorted out by the time the console reaches retail.

See the bolded portion.
Well yea, its in closed box. The 360 had the same problem with their demo stations.
Which makes it odd that they would use closed boxes....

Those demo stations have an airflow system, its like a giant PC case with fans sucking in air then exhausting it but the PS4 in the OP looks to be encased in a plastic box with no means of airflow.
Both consoles are going to have overheating protection that shuts off console. Problem is its going to happen more on the PS4.
Opinion not fact.
Opinion is fact in SystemWars, lol.

Either a monster cooling solution or a very high operating temperature.
So some idiots locked a PS4 inside a case. When it overheats due to being locked inside that case, they are surprised by this? I wouldn't call them the sharpest knives in the drawer, that's for sure.
I like how it was debunked by Shuhei Yoshida, Yet people still run on with it..
Not to mention, the entire tube is not lit up red... Like the Blue would be... I said it before, "The blue light is cool, but one day someone will probably Photoshop it red and call it the line of death....." And..wow look what happened.
That's not a closed case like what the PS4 is in. Can you see the whole X1? No...There is a reason for that. Lets see if you can figure it out without me telling you.
@Far_RockNYC: It can't overheat when no one is playing it.
Put some glasses on so you can see that a game is being played on the screen as well as be able to see the controller in her hand.
Locking it in a tiny, almost airtight box will do that
Lots of electronics have warning signs and idle when overheating
would be better if there were video proof....then i would believe it
but yosh saying no makes me wonder if this is real

Good Lord, there are literally idiotic fanboys everywhere on the internet. That was painful to read.
My PC has 4 fans.... One on the top.. one on the back one on the side and one on the bottom. I used to have it in a not very tight spot but it had a lil space to breathe and the computer used to crash and freeze all the time.. all i did was move it to the side where it had a lil more space and it hasn't happened ever since. If we're gonna talk about over heating refer to hermits opinion on it and see how stupid this whole thread is.

Their penchant for foul language is indeed amusing. Poor Yoshida.
I wonder who Will Game is on this site, taking bets it's Far_rockNYC, lol.

I think he's saying that the red line means the system is dead is not true.. That's what I got at least.
The OP also stated that the PS4 had an on screen overheat warning.
I always wonder how demo units handle being stuck in a tiny box with limited airflow. I remember seeing quite a few RROD 360s in stores back in the day--always made me laugh.

It's in a small plastic box with zero ventiliation. It's going to happen to any electric device.

Well of course not. The system (supposedly cos apparently it's fake) stays on and allows itself to cool down beofre letting you play again. It didn't even turn off
