i don't understand why sony needs to make an announcement regarding this shit if is not a big issue? this should matter to the developer environment and not costumers.
Tessellation
the article is still going to be interesting.  its about how the ram works,     i dont know what that guys deal was, but he is reputable right?
Cerny already explained that :S (Onion,Garlic buses), to me the only statement Sony can make is how the RAM is allocated for system resources. Probably to go more in depth about Onion and Garlic pathways...Rofl delusional lemrats praying to god hoping that somehow someway the PS4 gets downgraded/downclockedxboxiphoneps3I don't blame them mate... i mean look at what they have to look forward to.... that would make anyone angry. Its just a shame they can't see the light of the PS4 or feel the butt stuffing they are currently receiving from M$... ignorance is bliss and all
They better not lower to 4gb or i will--------silversix_Extremely small chance that happens.. Official spec list says 8 gb of ram and PS4 already went through FCC with ram speed clocked at 2.75 ghz x 2=5.5 ghz per sec ram speed

- Insiders confirm 5 billion transistor is for GPU ONLY.
2x AMD 7970 = 5 billion transistor.
>768 ALU for the GPU
Nvidia GTX 680 = 1536 ALU
AMD 7970 = 2048 ALU
Nvidia's architecture is more efficient, so its 1536 ALU can beat 7970's 2048 ALU
So to beat titan with 2880 ALU, AMD must provide a GCN 1.0 performance of 3840 ALUÂ or 1.3 times of ALU number for titan.
Since Nvidia Titan has 2880 ALU, the ONE's AMD GPU must be at least 3840 ALU on GCN 1.0.
AMD recently created GCN 2.0 GPU with 2880 ALU and claimed it would work more efficiently than NVIDIA's titan.
More specifically, GCN 2.0 will have 30-40% better efficient design, meaning that with GCN 2.0, the ONE's GPU would only need 2880 ALU.
Would be great if they lowered to 4gb but gave us a much stronger gpu like the 7950 tho. Find a way so OS uses no more than 500mb and i think 3.5gb of gddr5 with a much strong gpu would be nicesilversix_There not going to lower the RAM and there not going to completly change their APU design and design and cooling of PS4 and add a  stronger, bigger, GPU 2-3 momths away from launch. I do hope they upclock the ps4 gpu though that would be very nice. Even 800 mhz to 850 mhz would be sick

u did call BS on page 1 so i give u credit..so it's confirmed. wow, only sony is dispicable enough to downgrade the ram prior to launch. so glad i stopped supporting this company.
already passed through the FCC but i like ur trollingso it's confirmed. wow, only sony is dispicable enough to downgrade the ram prior to launch. so glad i stopped supporting this company.

It's good to hear that this isn't anything major, but the memory article will be interesting.

From Eurogamer Spain's sub director twitter:
>PS4 Memory drama. More info soon
>The article will be publish tomorrow, it's better like this, will be more info.
>A very interesting tech article, 24 hours delay because Sony want to make statements.

Some sort of drama is underway with the Playstation 4, the article would have been out today but it's delayed until tommorow because Sony is "preparing statements".
RAM Downgrade incoming?
GDDR5 has reported to be a problem with some devs, it fails at doing small tasks & has insanely high latencyÂ
But so did N64 & somewhat PS2, devs worked around it, I seriously doubt this is a heat issue, so im not sure what it is.
Perhaps they are doing DDR3 for main system ram & GDDR5 for the VRAM, which would be much better, devs would love Sony long time for that.
PS4's memory bus can only do around 2gb's of VRAM efficiently, anymore & performance starts to go down the drain, 3gb's of VRAM at best can be used, so having the whole system use 8gb's of GDDR5 ram when the APU can't really use more than 3gb's as VRAM, was kind of stupid.

Well, Sony engineers would have to go through highschool again then, because even a small kid would see that design flaw, if that flaw is like what you describe of course
There actually is no drama - the poster on twitter has gone to say the article he has written is nothing on the scale of up or downclock or downscaling on any hardware feature change (which, with the PS4 JUST passing the FCC's approval, would be a massive shift that people would've known about for months if Sony had intended to release the PS4 this holiday season).
What he is going to be discussing is the viability of the garlic and onion busses when passing data between the gpu and cpu. He'll be pointing out a flaw that most of the engineers I know are aware of, and isn't a issue at all.Â
Once I saw thread title I knew somebody put their foot in their mouth, self-owned, or lemmings had been owned. Turns out all 3 happened
OP and the lemrats jumped the gun and took a Eurogamer Spain subdirector's tweets out of context. He said there were gonna print an article about PS4's memory bus tomorrow unfortunately he said:TLDR thread. Can someone sum up what is true and what is false?

"PS4 Memory drama. More info soon."
Â
Lemmings took that to mean that Sony was having RAM issues with GDDR5. He then proceeded to say:
Â
"-The article will be publish tomorrow, it's better like this, will be more info. A very interesting tech article, 24 hours delay because Sony want to make statements."
Â
Â
and lemmings creamed their pants lol. Only for him to finally tweet several hours later after he saw he had caused a shit storm:
Â
"Calm down! It's just some info about how memory works and nothing more. Nothing serious! "
Â
Â
TLDR Version: Eurogamer trolled lemrats. Lemmings jumped the gun too early and assumed random tweets meant Eurogamer was about to reveal Sony manufacturing problems with GDDR5 when they were just hyping a article that explains how PS4 memory works, nothing more.
Indeed, Lems are pathetic. /threadPathetic Lems makng shit up again. Hoping that Sony makes a misstep to make the Failbox look slightly better.Â
