To jakarai. I don't see how unlocking a Platinum trophey is any different than getting 1000 out of 1000 achievement points in a game. Doing both means you had the skill to complete all the required tasks in the game. Seems exactly the same to me. CAlNlAC

Trophies are the exact same thing as achievements. It's just a different label for it. Trophies have different rankings, achievements have higher gamerscores. Trophies were recently made mandatory for all PS3 games and several games that did not have them were updated to include them. So they are pretty much equal. Can we drop that side of the argument?

dude i think your the one looking through fanboy goggles, live is better FACT if you asked all the devs which one was the better service they would say xbox live, MS where doing online before sony even bought out the ps1 they have many many more years experience when it comes to online gaming, i can talk to my friends on xbox live even if they are not playing the same game online and lets face it you can't play the no1 online experience on PSN not to mention xbox live has a better movie service, faster download speeds, way more content and it's easier to find your friends for a game, you get what you pay for and something free is never as good as something you pay for.

After getting my 3rd RROD, the last one happening a month after getting it and a right after a week of not even playing it... yeah... Apparently using the 360 breaks it and aso not using the 360 breaks it.... I bought a PS3.

After playing on PSN alot lately I have to say that PSN is the superior online service.

1. Its free, with alot more free downloads, like free wallpapers etc which you would be made to pay for on Live.

2. The interface of PSN is vastly superior as it reflects a PC online server more. An example of that is that you join the server and can view every game being held and play at and you can pick and choose which one you want to play or find a specific one with a friend. Unlike on Live where its just that random P2P garbage that 90% of the time enters you into a horrible game that dc's after 5 seconds...

3. Is it just me or are there a considerably smaller amount of absolute idiots on PSN. I played many many games before playing with someone that was even remotely annoying. This could not be said about Live with im assuming from experiences that at least 40% of the userbase is people under 11 that are there just to annoy and about 20% are drunk or high but not only that but they insist on telling you that they are every 5 seconds... Oh and lets not forget about all the racist's and the people that sound like they have swallowed the mike lol on Live.

4. Servers that can host 30 vs 30 games with little to no lag on PSN!!! Those games are just fun lol.

5. Home, yes you may say its pointless but nonetheless its a cool feature that has the potential to be great!.

6. Its free!!!! Yes I said this already but its so important it needs to be said twice. I refuse to pay for live anymore because its just not worth the price.

Anyways, this is why PSN>>>Live.

There are idiots on PSN surely but I'd bet theres also a lot less people with headsetsToriko42
Strangely enough on PSN me and my friends have found people more talkative. Take COD WAW on the 360 silence! Next day we play on a PS3 COD WAW again and people are always chatting and generally being annoying in most cases! Actually every time i have played Naruto and COD Waw on the 360 online no one speaks even when spoken to! It was the same on Soul Calibur as well.... But i guess this varies day 2 day im not sure which one i prefer i have more experience with PSN but ive had not one problem with Live either and to be fair i play a 360 Daily not always online mind but none the less i have some experience.

TheOwnerOner your lying plain and simple ive noticed a LOT of people with Mics on PSN not only that they use them! Playing Halo 3 Monday not one NOT ONE PERSON spoke during a game! They spoke before hand but never during im sorry but its about equal with the whole mic argument.

Amazing how these revolutions happen whenever the supposed 360 owner gets a RROD. Not buying it, why not just come out and admit what you are? :)

Live has the advantage over PSN, deal with it. It looks better, easier to navigate, easier to use, everything was included from the get-go so it all works together a lot better. PSN lacks, microsoft gives 8 player partys sony gives home. One makes gaming 8X more fun one does nothing but fool disapointed fanboys into thinking there having fun dancing on the same spot for an hour.

PSN isn't *bad* by any means, it gets the job done. It's just not as good and you people need to just accept it and move on. The same as you need to accept the ps3 is not more powerful, wont be more powerful and wont be winning this gen. MGS4 is not hte second coming of jesus.

A lot for you poor fellows to swallow, it must be hard.

I had voted for psn just becuase i dont get any lag from it while playing online games which is the reason people are paying for xboxlive to play games but why PSN no lag and free i just dont get it and i can still donw load demos updates trailers and arcade games well the same thing as like wipeout hd which is amazing and also good old classic ps1 games and if i wanted download full ps3 games like burnout ultimate and a few others to me it has everything xbox live has with also able to download this gen games instead of just older games with no lag and free to me there is no competition

PSN probably has less idiots than Live, but there's a reason why Microsoft have a price for online: the service is much, much better. There are more features.dylanmcc

Other than playing your games online, what does Gold offer over Silver? MS has to be the first company to charge people solely for playing their games online with a Player hosted system. Nice of them to charge you for using your own internet connection.

[QUOTE="0bscurity"]

[QUOTE="superkoolstud"]Over half of m y PS3 games have ZERO trophies. You sir are high on crack to say trophies are better.superkoolstud

He's high on crack because he has a preference and supports it? So does that make you high on drugs for having a preference leaning towards achievements? Come on, it's one thing to disagree with someone, but now you're just being a hypocrite.

I prefer PSN simply due to the fact that I'm not getting milked out of even more money to pay for something that should be free. Paying online fee's on top of internet fee's?

:|

First its not preference. Achievements are better 100% clear cut and dry. If Trophies were implemented in every PS3 game then they would be on equal footing, but Sony is lazy and doesn't care so we got a half assed feature. Why should Live be free. Are you one of the degenerate morons who uses torrents and Limewire to download music, games, or movies because you feel entitled to them, that they should be free? Live is a quality service that is vastly better then its competition. If Sony wasn't so lazy then they wouldn't be in third. They need to take notes and learn from Microsoft, PS3 online is just as bad as PS2 online. Why because both times Sony was too lazy to set and enforce standards in their games and features. It's no wonder they lost so much business to Microsoft. Only a delusional fanboy can turn a blind eye to the many inadequacies of PSN, and say its a better service.

amazingly good point,just be careful, you might get moderated for even mentioning, well you know what i mean but you are right, some people seem to think they are entitled to everything for nothing, the 'psn is free' argument is a lame one cos you pay an extra 100 quid for the ps3 which covers 2 years of xbox livein the first place, XBL is easily better than PSN, only a blind person or an idiot can't see it, but everyone is entitled to there own opinion i suppose, even if it does go against general opinion.

What does Gold and Silver have to do with anything? Yeah, it may be a rip paying just to play online. but the XBL service is still better than PSN. The fact that PSN is free doesnt change that.

They are both insanely similar. the only really important difference is the cost. excluding that, and you have two VERY similar products. That said, I prefer the PSN. That may only be because i only have a PS3, but I also really like the interesting titles they have on it, like Flower, Flow, Pixeljunk games, and other stuff... But LIVE is no slouch either... and I sorta agree with Cherokee_Jack, the only reason PSN seems to have less "idiots" is because the 360 has a much larger user base. However, it also seems the 360 has a much younger (on average) user base as well. But trust me, Side by side, I'm pretty sure the ratio of idiots to "mature" players are the same on both consoles.

Cross game invite and a chatroom is worth $50/year? dedicated server for xbl top games not included btw

Is an free online service that has dedicated servers > an $50/year online service that focus on a shopping entice dashboard with online games that are connected to p2p lag fest?

You tell me.

imo live is a lot better. obviouswly home and the fact it being free makes psn pretty good but nothing compared to live. i havent been on psn in months cos it was shocking while i go on live almost everyday. also on psn hardly anybody has a headset. on live you can talk to almost everyone cos most 360's have a headset in the box.

PS3 owners lose out big time in terms of console online;

Xbox Live = Best online implementation

Halo 3 = Best adverserial multiplayer

L4D = Best co-operative multiplayer

Not to mention exclusive DLC.

For a FREE service how could anyone ask for more than what it offers? It does exactly everything it's suppose to do as an online service + it as plenty of free content and it's totally your choice to purchase whatever might interest you.

Xbox live doesn't have dedicated servers.

Why don't lemmming never talk about the multiplayer aspect of XBL?

they always talk about the shopping entice dashboard, the messaging invite, the communication. but never the lack of dedicated servers. lets talk about the bullspit of p2p connections.

Umm thats not entirely true. Some games on XBL do in fact use dedicated servers like L4D for example and a few others. Its up to the developers to decide if they want to use dedicated severs or not. Also you make it sound like every online game over PSN uses dedicated servers which is also not true. It is true however that PS3 has more games than XBL using them though.

Actually Left 4 Dead and Frontlines have them. But I think that's pretty much it though, there's none for anything like Halo or Gears.

im aware of that. but like you said with the games that matter most like halo and gear, it dont have dedicated servers.

Yeah, it is a shame and it's my biggest problem with Live. You'd think MS would go to more effort to have games with dedicated servers. But no, we get Avatars instead.

PS3 owners lose out big time in terms of console online;

Xbox Live = Best online implementation

Halo 3 = Best adverserial multiplayer

L4D = Best co-operative multiplayer

Not to mention exclusive DLC.

You pay for xbl so every games should have dedicated servers. Especially games like Halo and all the top titles on xbl.

you dont pay for psn but we still get dedicated servers for resistance, one of the top titles on PSN.

practically everyone on my friends list has a headset, loads more people have them now, think when socom comes out, then thousands more people will have headsetshoosier7

I predict when Socom is released here then approximately 12 more people will have headsets.

Yeah its true that more games on XBL should use dedicated servers but as far as I know MS leaves that decision up to the individual developers. So being that choosing to run dedicated servers would cost that developer money I'm guessing a lot opt out. As for why MS doesn't use them for their own games like Halo I dunno.

and beside, you want to be better than your competitors, xbox live is suppose to be better than psn, right? just becasue some psn games don't have dedicated servers doesn't mean M$ shouldn't add dedicated server to their games. especially if you're gonna add a 50 dollars a year price tag to it.

Resistance wouldnt make it into the top 10 on XBL though, to be fair. Also, dedicated servers aren't so good for games that may not sell well. The developers would shut the serves down if not enough people are playing them.

The only thing PSN has over Live ATM for me is two fold. 1) Its free. 2) The classic PSOne games that can be played on both the PSP and PS3. For everything else, I think Live is superior. But PSN is a great service, no doubt.

so chat to your mates in party chat, problem solved, still does not make his statement false.

I greatly prefer LIVE over PSN... to the point that I buy most every multiplatform game with a multiplayer component on 360. PSN is free because nobody would pay for it as is.

Cuddlesofwar actually brings up a pretty good point. One of the benefits of p2p based online play which can really help older games is that so long as people are still playing it you can join their room. In like a game like say PDZ for example, a launch title on the 360. You can still find and join a game online pretty easy because its p2p and still a small number of players play it online. Now if on the other hand PDZ was using dedicated servers MS would have likely shut them down cause theres just not enough people playing to justify the expense of running the servers. So basically you're out of luck if that happens. Still though I would like to see more games using dedicated servers on XBL.

sorry dude but you are wrong

the ability to talk with your friends while playing a totaly different game, listening to music during your games, send voice messages to your friends, playing with people who use headsets, having alot of great downloadable games, having heaps on achievments that are fun to unlock, gamer points etc make it a much better experience oh and BTW please dont mention trophies they are so boring to get and nobody even tries to get them

world69star69
oh and avatars which are fun to make BTW IMO

Give me a break, trophies are much better then acheivments, they look nicer, they give you a feeling of more acomplishment unlocking a bronze, silver gold, or platinum trophy, the level system is better. I already stressed why cross game chat is not nessesary. All new ps3 games have trophies mandatory. PSN has many many games... with a large lack of shovelware as most games are good. Sony uses dedicated servers, not p2p crap like on xbla. Less annoying kids, a slicker interface and fun expeirence. How can you talk the way you do? Take that lbp avatar as it's obvious you don't deserve it...lwith comments like that...lol...

What i love most about trophies is that i can go back and attain them in all my games.... Oh wait! I have a PS3 and love it but it's common knowledge that Live offers more. Yes, you are paying for it but that doesn't make effect the service.

do me a favor... halo 2 was a very popular p2p online game for it time... go try to find a match and tell me how long it took.

go test out all the old p2p games
