*waits for someone to say "what does home do for gaming"*

Home can actually be used as a matchmaking system for games.

Just try sending cross-game messages and game invites on PSN

Good for you. I would actually bet if XBL was made by a different company, it would be for free as well but it's Microsoft! What can you expect...

That probably depends more on your line than PSN. The important thing is that XBL had all that stuff a year and a half ago, so what additions are there on PSN???

the only 2 things i want psn to add ATM though is more game downloads and able to open messages in game. its annoying when a guy sends you a message wen ur in the middle of a game and you cant open it and the guy keeps on sending more so you quit the game and find out that he is p***ed. yes it does happen

O RLY?

and anyone who has ever played MKII knows PSN aint laggfree...

or that its equally as laggfree as Xbl...

Oh, and Playstation Shop is slow and bulky as hell.

but, it kinda pisses me off that MS are charging alot more for games and stuff. and that I get a higher download rate on PSN that is free rather than getting crappy rate from XBL wich i pay for...

I can invite my friends to the game i'm playing with ease and regardless if they are in another game or not. Same goes for messages.

Your problem is that you haven't used XBL to know how great the service works.

The only things PSN is lacking over xlive is not as many demos, and arcade games.

Within 4-5 months there will be no advantage xlive has. Infact PSN will probably have advantages with Home etc.

Too bad some games will charge for online fees, which means if you get more than a couple it could end up costing you more than XBox Live.

I guess you've never heard of Hellgate London.
If the Cows end up buying this game en masse and choose to pay the subscription fee, you can bet more developers will be making pay-to-play-online games.

Major advantage? Most definitely

That feature has to be built into the game.

Well, if the can update the firmware to include this function, game developers can use it for their games. Right?
Also (not sure if it was a rumour or not) but the next big firmware update will let you access the XMB while playing a game, meaning you can send text messages to other players without needing to quite the game.

But I agree that the PSN still lacks some functions in comparison to XBL. That's just the way it is right now and there's not much more to say about it. It sure will improve over time, but that's all that can be said as nobody knows what it'll look like down the road.

now that's you trying to disscredit something that XBL has.  Game invites to those who are playing a different game is a huge advantage over PSN.  btw,  I've been playing CoD3 online since it's release and EVERY game I've played with 24 people has run perfectly.  You must have a crappy connection if it lagged for you.  :|

The only things PSN is lacking over xlive is not as many demos, and arcade games.

Within 4-5 months there will be no advantage xlive has. Infact PSN will probably have advantages with Home etc.

Those are what XBL has over PSN.

burn the truth burn the truth. oh and btw resistance and motorstorm ( the well worked on titles out) have voice support. and im pretty sure not every xbox360 online game has voice support... but then again

Every game on XBL does support voice chat.  What's even better is if one of my friends is online and I'm really caring for the conversation going on in the game I'm playing,  i can chat with my buddy who's playing a completely different game.  Does PSN offer that feature as well?  :|

You will never grasp any understanding of how xbox live works until you own it. There are so many of these threads which say "but PSN has a friends list too!" as if that makes it of equal quality.

Let's bring ourselves back to the real world; the plus of your online service is that it's free, the negetive is that it's nowhere near as good as Live. The plus of live is that it's absolutely awesome, the negetive that you have to pay a small fee to use it.

You cant have it both ways, cows.

Wrong.  If you have never used XBL you just don't understand.  The ability to do this is built into every game thanks to XBL, the devs. don't have to do anything.

i can play multiplayer lagfree 40+

marklarmer

That probably depends more on your line than PSN. The important thing is that XBL had all that stuff a year and a half ago, so what additions are there on PSN???

It's free.  That's something Microsoft has never done.

I seriously wonder how many people who say PlayStation Network is just as good (or very close to as good) as Xbox Live have ever used the service.  And how many of them lie when they answer such a question.-The-G-Man-

I own both.  When I play online I want demos and the ability to play multiplayer.

Live crushes PSN with demos.

Online gameplay on the PSN seems just as good as Live to me. I'm sure Live has extra features, at least it should since it costs more, but I've never felt the need to use them.

Nobody is discrediting the fact that it being free is a good thing. What is stupid, is the number of cows who make threads claiming PSN is just as good as Xbox Live, when they have clearly never used Live because if they had they would know that such a statement isn't even close to being true.

How many PS3 games are out?

I honestly think the days of online on Xbox but not on PS3 are limited now that PSN is up and running.
