You can get all those for free on a pc. But I digress, plus still sucks.
With PSN
Those who want to pay 50 a year can get EXTRA content and REDUCED prices, and more.More is coming to PSN and it is getting better with each update and upgrade. Most of it will be free while some will be for PSN+
So PSN is not = to Live.
I find Live to give me a better value. With PSN Plus, they assume I want the **** they give me. I havent found anything they offered that made me wish I subscribed to it. Live gives me stuff I actualy use thats not on PSN.

That's has nothing to do with the money your paying. That's done, like the interface, skins, silver members get that free... the money isn't giving you value, it's returning something that's yours to begin with... Someone up there said netflix "the ps3 is going cd-less with netflix FOR FREE" and i don't use tweeter or even have a zune. So why do i need to pay 50 plus the cost i had to pay for the game i wanna pay online. I'm much more of a Playstation fan, and i play my PS3 far more then my 360.

until PSN Plus starts adding features that can only be accessed while being a PSN Plus user like access to Netflix (which you can do without being a Plus user), Twitter, Facebook, cross-game chat, etc. etc. Then no.
your comparing two different services.
PSN Plus is really a glorified discount card. It is - argueably if you ask me - only worth it if your a heavy PSN subscriber. but i don't believe in renting games while leashed to a subscription service.
Xbox Live on the other hand has more value to it in that it offers to improve the online experience for the user. and if your someone who wants to play with your friends at the fullest capability your gonna need Xbox Live Gold. It's a gated community that works not only peer pressure but also for those ( like me) who like to have access and a lot of things in one place.

lol by that you mean cross game chat, which is like one of the few things live has over PSN,since cross invites, and friend list are on PSN,because online play is the same some games lag some games run great, which is the whole point, why do i care that you want to speak to me while you play Uncharted 2,if i am playing MW2..Please.. no wonder cross game chat was block by Activition, because it ruined the whole experience, since you would be able to chat over the game, and tell your friend were the enemy is coming or where is hiding once you are dead, something you are not suppose to do on hardcore games.
But PSN plus doesn't = live or close, renting games is not free and it never has been free, online play has always been free, and the only one charging is MS on this market,in fact i could live find without PSN+ but since i don't need to pay for online play, and is not mandatory, but on live is you don't pay you don't play,i bet that if MS make a silver version with online free play but without cross game chat and some other options, people would drop live like i stone would drop to the button of the sea.

Servers.? dude the majority of xbox live games are P2P don't run on severs, worst since EA standed up to MS they can kill their games were ever they want, sure they can kill the PS3 versions as well, but i don't pay to play online, you are paying and could not even access those once EA say no more to a game.
But you say the PS3 get no features, dude what about Youtube upload one of the collest feature ever, what about Home has does live has something like home, where you can have your own virtual place free, play games, visit places especifict for several games.? and those were in before PSN + was even out, hell MS even stripped features from silver to make gold look more appealing, like demos the same day, which wasn't like it is now that gold member get them first.
In the end features are meaningless since the core gameplay is what counts,in what live $50 helped MW2 to have less cheaters, less exploits, less lag oh yeah in nothing.
what's up with this facebook and twitter? you guys think thats what makes the the live 50 dollars a year justified? don't know you if you know this but you can integrate your playstation network with facebook for FREE. it improves the online experience? how so? all i want is to play online and what if my xbox was to break or something happens that prohibits me to play. its not like you can halt live if your not using it, so ehh i don't understand why you guys are so happy to pay for something you can get for free, i just don't see it. Multiplats online games run exactly the same on live and the psn so saying its a better online experience is bullI'm much more of a Playstation fan, and i play my PS3 far more then my 360.

lol, do you even have a 360? Because it seems like you dont. Live has many features that make it worth the money to the individual. Netflix alone is worth the fee to me, though its different for others. If you only intend to play online with no downloads, then it may not be worth it.navyguy21

Hardly free last I checked I was paying for my internet service. I actually know a few people who use XBL as there internet service...they are struck for cash and XBL covers all there basic needs for $50 a year...Facebook, Twitter, Espn3. Also you can get XBL for $25-$30 a year pretty easily either with Amazon or through the offers MS puts up on the XBL dashboard.
I also know 1-2 people who use their IPhone's as there primary internet service so...if your a young person living alone sometimes getting basic internet service along with something else your already using makes sense.

i agree 100%, they are both different subscription services. xbl gold is a subscription to play online. psn+ is more like a bestbuy rewards program. There is no competition. That license can be controlled by the distributors and their partners as they seem fit. Live Gold gives advantages over free PSN. Faster services, more stable connections are two of the main things. An example: game add-ons. On PSN, you spend anywhere from 5-10 minutes downloading them, then another 5-10 installing it. On XBL it is a 2-3 minute process, download AND install. Features that PSN has been trying to add for years are built into the architecture of Live (cross game chat anyone?). One is required to play the online portion of your games and the other is not. They are both dependent of the subscriber finding value in their features, but live gold is required for your games to retain their full value on your end.
That's the difference. I do agree neither is worth money, but if I still had a 360 I'd most likely be a gold subscriber to get full use out of it, while as a ps3 owner I'm not inclined to subscribe to ps plus, and don't see that changing anytime soon.

You do buy a license for a game rather than the game itself, because if you owned the game they couldn't sell it anymore. It's semantics. In the end you buy the license for the whole game from the publisher when you buy it, and MS holds your online portion hostage until you pay them.
You can argue this all you want but in the end here's the only thing that matters. Games with online portion cost the same at retail for both ps3 and 360 versions.

Again, that license is distributed, with and without features as the owners and their partners see fit. A deal a publisher makes with one company is not the same as one they make with another. Your argument is using the assumption that Sony and MS deals are the same, obviously, they are not. As far as retail purchasing, you are correct, there is no arguing that fact. Yet, that is semantics as well. Just looking at the surface of the issue does not fully explain the difference. So use you free PSN and spend 30 minutes updating and and adding DLC to your games while I spent 1/10th the time to do the same thing, on the same connection with the same sized file. XBL Gold is worth the money for one reason and one reason alone, synergy. The same reason people love the iPhone and Macs. Ease of use.I jsut hate how PSN Plus's Enitre existence is based entirely on assumption. But REBUYING the online portion of the games you already bought is great eh? Don't insult us dude...[QUOTE="GamerProDude"][QUOTE="XboximusPrime"]
I jsut hate how PSN Plus's Enitre existence is based entirely on assumption. SONY assumes your going to want everything they give you discounted or free, but to me, theyre wasnt even on thing so far that I wanted that they gave for free.
