Most of the stuff that guy added to his list is a total joke. and with the 360 you have to pay for something that comes on the disc YAY thats win right
lol...I call total horse crap on that!KC_HokieBased on what? Your extensive knowledge and credibility on the matter? I've loved having PSN+. it started a little slow, but once they started putting higher quality content up it has been totally worth the $50. There are some high quality games I got that I've really enjoyed, and my daughter has loved a lot of the mini games we got as a part of the package.

If a person had $1,000,000 on their PSN account, you don't think they'd buy up everything they could buy? And all the stuff he added to the list is very relevant to gamers.

Im on the free trial right now and Im loving the 1 hour demos.
depending what games you buy, I am sure XBL live is worth it in the amount of money you will save on DLC, like MS2 discount..missed out on that, but that was amazing deal

But the fact that Sony made these games available for us to experience helped me discover a lot of fun/quality titles I never would have known of otherwise. And am I glad I discovered these games. Not only have they been fun, but I'm now aware of some very talented devs and will keep an eye out in the future for more of their creations.
[QUOTE="Fizzman"]Exactly. The selection is awful. For you maybe it is i have already downloaded several games,i just play a few days ago Magic the Gathering a game which i never play before,i never play those card games before, because always think they were some how lame, but actually the game was very good and challenging. Now when i see another game like that from the series i will buy it,the game was like $10 i think and i pay nothing for it.I am on that 30 day free trial of PSN+ and I didnt save a dime because I didnt want anything.

KC_HokieI would $50 dollar for 12 months of saving and free PSN,PS minis, and PSone clasics + themes Betas and all that stuff, allot better value than other things that charge you for nothing.

This, it's made me consider a lot more titles for purchase and actually made me consider PSN titles. It benefits some more than others, though to most there is generally something every month to interest you from what i've seen and the selection is always quite varied. I don't think IGN literally meant this is what people will save (there's always gonna be some since it's SW), more as an interesting fact as to the potential savings there are. This also doesn't highlight the auto download and cloud saving features along with as we have found, how it can expand your avenues of gaming.
[QUOTE="madsnakehhh"]Well that is the beauty of it is not mandatory.Oh I agree. The biggest plus of PS+ is that it is not mandatory. Having sad that I think it a matter of when and not if PSN is no longer free.Too bad nothing on that list interest me, as long as i'm able to play free online, i'm good.

Yep, of course, never said PSN+ was a bad thing, just not for me.
And how many of the free to play games actually interest people? I recently looked through the offerings of the first year and only found two games I wanted to play. Seeing as I don't care about free avatars and demos I'm probably not renewing when my welcome back trial expires.

even PSN+ beats live anyday.... with Live you get nothing for free  LIVE is over priced garbage
How much of that content do you get to keep after your subscription expires? foxhound_foxAvatars, themes and certain games you get to keep if you choose not to resubscribe.
I've been a Plus subscriber since it was first released, you're introduced to some awesome games you never of considered otherwise...and yeah, you're also given some awful ones. I just wish the service would hurry up and evolve to include things other than just gaming, PS+ users being able to change their username for example, or how about adding movies into the mix?MushroomWigI'd like the name cahnge thing, it's possible considering it's available in Japan, though i think expanding into movies and such would require things to be revamped, with separate packages e.g. A movie package, a gaming package, maybe a music package (it'd just be the Sony music service under a different package name), a merged package. It'd be nice to see more community things for PSN which would be good for PS plus as it might raise the standards of them a bit.
Brilliant. The author just totals up the discounts in a way that would make most informercials blush, doesn't take into account any costs (ie how much you would have to spend on discounted games/DLC to earn the maximum discount, nevermind any sort of actual cost-benefit analysis), and actually dismisses the point that you lose access to much of the 'free' content if you let your subscription run out as ridiculous.
We're gonna need a bigger Pulitzer.
PSN+ certainly sounds appealing to me, and I may purchase it in the near future. Also, why don't they add an all-in-one package called PSUltimate? This would be PS+, plus movie rentals from PS plus store, plus Netflix, plus Qriocity, pretty much all or most of the services, and this could be cheaper than if the user actually ordered each of the services individually.

What? You don't make any sense...the author is calculating savings? Why would he count how much you spend? When you have PS+ you get a discount and save a certain amount of money rather than buying it without PS+. It's how much you save, not how much you spend. You're trying too hard to find flaws, mate. Not everything is lost when you lose your subscription, and even if you cannot use the content after PS+, what's your point? You paid for the subscription, not the free content, the content is included IN the subscription. As long as you have the subscription, you have the free content. Why don't you go ahead and complain about losing the "online" after you paid for Xbox LIVE, the online is part of the service, and you pay for the service.
Avatars, themes and certain games you get to keep if you choose not to resubscribe.MushroomWigSo not all of the $881? :P
[QUOTE="MushroomWig"]Avatars, themes and certain games you get to keep if you choose not to resubscribe.foxhound_foxSo not all of the $881? :P Nope! It's pretty sneaky to be honest. It would be like not being able to access things you've downloaded off the Internet if you stop paying. It's only good if you keep subscribing.

My point is it's a ****ty article. The question of whether or not PSN+ is worth the money is far more complex than totalling up the maximum possible discount: there's the issue of how much of the free content is actually worthwhile (and not, say, some crapware no one in their right mind would spend money on otherwise), there's the issue of how deep the discounts are relative to the normal price of their products, and there's the question of how cancelling your subscription (and therefore lose access to much of the free content) will affect the overall value one recieves from the $50/year they spent. When discussing value one has to consider the cost-benefit, not just the benefit.
Instead of delving into those genuninely interesting questions, the author (on what's supposed to be a major source of gaming news and analysis) just rhymes off how much money you could potentially save per year like Ron Popeil ranting about how you're getting over $800 worth of products for one low, low payment of $49.99. Not exactly journalism at its finest.
