[QUOTE="SexyJazzCat"]The difference is that PS+ runs these sales all year long, but obviously the games change. Steam does theirs twice a year for a week, but of course there's no buy-in for Steam. Regardless, it's nice to see a console doing sales like this, even if it is gated for PS+, because it shows they're understanding how and why this model works. Steam isn't competing with PS+, so there's no reason to be defensive -- if anything it's going to make Steam sales that much better as more and more developers/publishers realize what a boon it is not just for their game, but for them too.Steam has better sales. Cant agree with you here buddy. Well not entirely at least. Steam has daily sales, midweek sales, weekend sales, devloper special event sales, indie event sales, gaming conference events seasonal sales! I don't think anyone has as many sales as Steam all year long.

I paid on avg. $50 a year for Live... have done so for 8 years now... I guess I'm a dumb sh_t too... the difference is I mind it, which is why I'm going PS4 w/ PSN+ this time around. SCREW M$

To save $10? You are up on current events right?Steam has better sales. And it's free.
SexyJazzCat
It's free that is true but overall better sales on a week by week basis no. STEAM does have amazing sales on 100's of games when they have the seasonal mega events but that's only a few weeks out of the year. The midweek and weekend deals aren't any good IMO. You do pay for PSN subscription true but you get most if not all of Sony's biggest exclusives for "free" along with a bunch of games/DLC/Themes or whatever they throw in every single week. For consoles it's no contest. But yea, STEAM's Summer/Winter/Black Friday events can't be touched because it's a free service and the deals are sick.

And looking at the success of gamestop trade in's you guys are renting the majority of games you actually purchased. And the trade in rates vs game costs is costing you way more than $50 a year. Its funny how everybody will hand on their physical discs for next to nothing yet spending $50 a year for unlimited access to tons of games on top of very good discounts is somehow a bad thing.PS+ is one of the best deals out there, i could see it being being even more beneficial if you happen to be on a budget.

here are some games I bought during midweek and weekend sales recently:
Alan Wake
The Witcher 2
Civ 5
Hitman Absolution
Just Cause 2
Batman Arkhum City
Chivelray Midevil Warfare
All for less than 8 bucks some less than 5.
Most notable game on sale right now is the F.E.A.R. series going for 5 bucks or less for each and $13.74 for the collection. And it is not even mid week. Who knows what gets announced on wednesday.
Point is even if you only factor in mid week and weekend sales and forget about summer sales that basically give you games for free steams sales>anything on console.

Also, I've got several games from GOG, with no DRM whatsoever.
But you're right. Getting games for rental prices is not as good as being able to pay extra for the privilege of paying slightly less than full retail.

Yea. You can play Steam games on multiple PC's but only from the account you purchased it on. At least console games give you a license for every person on that device. And don't act like Steam sales are incredible all the time. Looking at this weeks sales and the really cheap games are ones that nobody even buys anymore. I've seen Fear sell for as cheap as it is this week at Gamestop. And Holy Shit. NASCAR The Game 2013 for $35.99 for a single user. Ill be right on that one. I have used other peoples steam accounts with their permission, I can't use them or their games at the same time.As long as we're talking about single player games, just sign into steam, with your own account, on one computer, go to offline mode, sign into the same steam account on another computer. Both can play at the same time. Steam doesn't communicate with it's own servers while in offline mode (obviously), so it doesn't know it's signed in on multiple systems.

Also, so what if you get a licence for every person on your console? It's still one console. If I want to let my friend/girlfriend/brother/sister/whoever play my steam games, using my computer... They can just turn on my computer and open my steam account. Not sure what kind of benefit you're talking about.

whether the sales are good or not are completely subjective to those interested in the games on sale. I don't expect consolites to like pc games so... with that said there is another hole in your argument. That being that pc gaming isnt limited to just steam. Steam, Gog, amazon, gamersgate, desura, gamefly, direct2play, getgamesgo, impulsedriven, cdkeyhouse, etc are all competing all year round, which is why pc gaming sees sales every day across many games. I'm sorry but pc gaming sales just cannot be touched, not even close!
And there you go. Jumping through hoops using the "SAME" Steam Account.Murderstyle75
What hoops? Clicking a button?
And I'm still not sure what you're even arguing about, with the "same account" nonsense. You buy a digital game from XBL/PSN and you get a licence for all of the users "on that device" (your own words). What exactly is the benefit of multiple accounts on the same device?

Notice how you say "Not Long Ago". The first one is a 3 year old game and the second one is a $15 arcade title. Can't say I'm impressed. When Steam offers games for 1 to 3 dollars that people still actually buy, then we can talk. Most of these games left the Kmart clearance racks long ago.Playstaton fans = the most insecure gamers alive. PC gamers arent even that bad.
If you guys all think the Xbox One is going to flop why are you posting about it so much? You compare your beloved PS4 to it like they're that different. You should hate the Xbox for proving an online service can be paid for. You should hate Sony for thinking PSN is that kind of service.
I'm certain if the Xbox never existed Sony would just now be introducing an online gaming "service". Sony's Japanese management is big on sticking with "what works" and without the Xbox taking chunks of their market share they would still be in 2003.
As far as sales go, Microsoft doesnt need to discount titles, they actually sell on the 360. PS3 has not been known for moving large amounts of games compared to the 360.
