I think you mad.
I was asking a question, not stating a declarative.
Then that was on purpose of your part because that was a very silly question lol. This topic is locked from further discussion.

It can emulate GBA games better than my DS can (yes im aware the DS can play GBA but im talking emualting them with a flash cart)
This is coming from someone who sold a PSP and only recently bought one again as the DS libary was starting to bore me. Im looking at getting Sonic Colours and Super Scribblenauts in the near future, where as the PSP is getting God of War Ghost of Sparta, Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep, RE portable (if not cancelled) and The 3rd Birthday.
Then the added bonus of PS1 games not on the PSN store and all the other features that come with custom firmware.
Will be selling both for a 3DS though :)

Agreed 100%. According to some fanboys the PSP was doomed when it launched.lol The system has sold 60 mil plus and continues to sell well in Japan and other countries. It has a good number of highly rated games like Peace Walker,God of War,Lumines,etc... Even though its heading towards its twighlight years people still cant discredit it for what its done. Sell pretty well, have high quality games,etc...[QUOTE="edo-tensei"]
Why? psp has had a great run so far. There's some gems in the system and it managed to sell 60+ mills. It's just dying out now, sony will probably announce a new handheld soon enough. It's always that fanboys want to pit it against a competitor to bring it down, but the psp can stand up to any console really.

Every console multiplat that the PSP gets is a downgraded port.
Assassin's Creed is a shining example of that.

Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines isn't mutliplat, and the PSP version of SW:TFU got the highest score.EDIT: And from what I've seen, the PSP version of Tekken 6 and BlazBlue: CT are just as good as their console counterparts

Yeah it's true that Bloodlines isn't a direct port, but it tried to be like one of the console counterparts, and that's just something the PSP can't do. The Force Unleashed got a lower score on the PSP than the ones on the PS3/360.
I think it's pretty clear that the PSP can't "Equal" the console counterparts. Especially when they almost always score less than the console ones. (Not to mention the higher standards of the HD consoles)
AC: Bloodlines- It's a spinoff and it was trying to be different (which is what made it bad)
TFU: You're right. I was mistaken. The PSP version had the most content, not the highest score.
CT/T6: They may not look identical, but they play exactly the same (with the exception of the PSP version of CT having extra content).
It may be a spinoff, but it tried to use the console's formula, and considering the PSP's tech, it worked out horribly. They're fighting games, I'd be surprised if they didn't play the same. :P But obviously the PSP games aren't going to be able to match the console's graphical fidelity, and that's why I don't believe the psp can stand up to the console counterparts.AC: Bloodlines- It's a spinoff.

? They offer roughly the same experience, so I don't see the problem.

The PSP could have never mimicked successfully the console AC with its hardware it's impossible. It's like trying to bring Crysis to the Wii, it won't be the same. There's no problem, but you're using roughly loosely. I'm just stating that the PSP can't compete with the consoles in terms of games. They're trying to make a handheld be like a console, and that almost never works with the games. Especially with just one analog.[QUOTE="tagyhag"]It may be a spinoff, but it tried to use the console's formula, and considering the PSP's tech, it worked out horribly.

Wait, why is no PSP2 announcement a bad thing for PSP owners? That means their system will last as long as possible. It's a good thing for PSP owners because they don't have to buy a new system.
A 3DS announcement is not a "good" thing for DS owners. It means their system is about to become obsolete, and the stream of quality titles which has characterized its lifespan will come to an end.

Not at all. The PSP and even the DS has managed a large, populated, 3D environment. The devs just made poor design choices by putting the game in cramped, barren environments and making it lighter on stealth and heavier on combat. Why they did this? Who knows, but they could have done otherwise.

It's true that we don't know, but I'm willing to put my money on the console counterparts having higher standards. :P
The problem lies in the fact that the number of games coming out for the PSP is about to drop. Come November you only have 9 titles scheduled to come out come December there are no titles scheduled to come out. If your in the UK it's much worse with only 1 title between November and December scheduled. So it's not a matter of what is good for PSP owners. The fact that we have heard almost nothing about any new 3rd party western games after E3 is something to worry about. Sure there are some good games coming out new month and you have GofW. But we have not learned about anything else new coming down the pipeline. All the news we have is old.Wait, why is no PSP2 announcement a bad thing for PSP owners? In the years that ive owned a psp. Not once.. have I EVER played a game for it and gone.. oh wow this is awesome. at the very best i think ive gone, yeah this is good I suppose.. Even peace walker didnt do much for me. I mean all the big games just had something really wrong with them that I just couldnt enjoy it. Like crisis core was the closet I got to loving a psp game.. BUT I hated the combat system. Everything else about it was awesome but the combat system was so terrible. Like i dont even know what they were thinking its like real time but it locks on for you so you are just hitting x watching Zach run around it was a mess

I'm not altogether closely following the PSP's library but from what I last saw it had a very impressive 2010-2011 lineup. Even if most of those titles are based in Japan, that happens to be where the system sells best, so it's to be expected. It doesn't quite mean it's dead (a system would have to stop releasing software titles in all major regions for this to happen), hopefully this means more effort will be put into localizing those titles and bringing them over to the West. One of the major complaints I've heard from PSP owners is that so many of its games have never come out of the West, so rather than make new ones, I bet PSP owners would be happy if they could get more of the old ones and more of the good Japanese games.Wait, why is no PSP2 announcement a bad thing for PSP owners? Either way, I don't get where the sympathy comes from, because the DS library will dramatically decrease next year too. BC or not, the 3DS is a brand new piece of hardware, requiring a brand new investment of money...
i own a PSP and i dont feel the need for sympathy, i dont own a DS or any other Nintendo portable since GBA simply because i'm not looking for the kinda of games it as to offer.
TC has my sympathy regarding Halo Reach, really, he does, i mean, a game series that was nothing but a promise since day 1?
Its only famous because MS carried it to be the Xbox flag game, nothing more, by it self its nothing, Halo 3 was simply terrible in every way, Halo 2.2 more likely. Everything it does it has been done before and better, and its pathetic in comparison with Killzone 2link
Yeah, but wouldn't you want the upcoming library of the PSP to be looking bright? The overall library is pretty good, and the PSP is a success in a sense that it's sold tens of millions, but this thread is about the FUTURE of the PSP, and it looks like Sony is slowing withering away in this regard, which makes me believe a PSP2 is coming soon.Im sure psp owners have other systems too
Vader993
Fact is though, core games play and control better with traditional controls. Things like nintendogs work better for the touchscreens and casual experiences.edo-tensei
No that is not a fact. Certainly some genres do tend to work better with the d-pad and button layout. Because that's what they were designed around. However others can adapt quite well to the touchscreen, particularly if they are menu or cursor driven (RTS being an example of the latter, and one that tends to transition poorly to those "traditional controls"). It can also work if the game is specifically designed for the touchscreen. (eg. "The World Ends With You")
Stevo, between this and the other thread that you've made, I must say, you are shedding your hermit trappings and becoming a sheep :ocrippled_ramlol. No, I'm still very much a hermit. :P

Sure, but as a PSP owner, don't you want the future for your system to be bright? Afterall, who doesn't or who wouldn't want a better future for system. More games is better than less games. This thread should be renamed "PSP ONLY OWNERS have my sympathy". Theres people who own both a psp and a ds, ya know?

Well yeah i would want a better future, but its too late for that, the psp is dead and with the 3DS on the horizon its pretty much over. Im only enjoying whats left on on it, Upcoming games like God of War: Ghost of Sparta and Kingdom Hearts birth by Sleep dont even look that promising imo.

Well, to be fair and extremely cliche, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I personally think the PSP has a solid (albeit small) future ahead of it. I'm looking forward to a handful of games for it. That makes me content.
Does the DS have a better future? Most likely. I haven't bought a DS game since SMT: Strange Journey though, and won't buy another one until Ghost Trick comes out. Not disagreeing with you, but again, beauty in the eye of the beholder.

The upcoming library of the PSP is brighter than it's ever been. :| It's getting more and more Japanese support as well, which is why a PSP2 probably won't come for another 2 years at least.
