PSP vs 3DS: Metal Gear (56k!)

They both look more or less on the same level, but one is little better than the other.

I think all of them are from peacewalker :P

They're basically at the same level, but the 3DS ones are much sharper.

Interesting comparison. The 3ds version has better textures and a better resolution. Not a amssive difference but still pretty impressive for a launch title.

Ok more jaggies on the 3DS, but it looks sharper and more detailed overall.

you guys should see the screens for resident evil 3ds, i mean seriously. i guess the rumor of the handheld being closer to xbox 360 and ps3 than the wii is true. Rahnyc4

Doubt it's anywhere near the Wii in terms of power. With the lower resolution of handheld games the gamess require a lot less power. Fore xample people claimed the psp was as strong as the ps2 which isn't the case at all. It can produce "similar" graphics because of the extremely low resolutions, but the amount of polygons etc being pushed is no where near the ps2 counter part.

You can't really expect launch games to be representative a platforms potential. Look at the launch titles from any platform and they pale in comparison to the games released now.Zero5000X

The PSP metal gear is a whole new game, i played metal gear 3 snake eater on the ps2 about 6 years ago so not too hyped for the 3ds version.

That would mean it is slightly weaker than a PS2; definitely not more powerful than the Wii.

It will look noticeably nicer than PSP games, though, because it appears to have a higher resolution.

My verdict: Can't really tell. Lets wait for videos and more screenshots.

Snake Eater remake looks so good. But im curious to see how it will control with one analog stick because the controls on peace walker can get bothersome. I need a live demo NOW.

These screens are touched up. The psp's screen resolution is not the same. The lack of aliasing also shows that.

You guys are being fooled by the TC - the psp screenshots aren't crisp because he didn't post actual screenCAPS. Gamespot can't do actual screencaps because they don't have "special" firmware (or at least i'm pretty sure they don't)

windsquid9000's post shows actual screenshots - even though those aren't the psp's resolution

Just looked through a ton of PW screenshots and it seems that the 3DS does indeed have better visuals.
