I have had both ads and psp twice and got both on launch

1 ds grey/1 ds lite: sold last one after beating zelda

2 psp 1000: still own 1

From my viewin this case i think it isclear cut what system is more enjoyable all around

PSP beats DS hands down in current games, future games, price, online play, and overall utility

Most importantly to me...

DS does have a larger section of games a smallamount of them are worth playing unless your much older/much younger/casual "with exception"

While PSP does have its share of bad games too there seems to be much much less horrid and not only because of the smaller libary

Nintendo Online is a joke i know a few games like mario kart are ready to go online But friends codes while safe are the worst thing to come to online gaming

Before you post angry replys keep in mind im not knocken people that like ds

and while ithink 90% of allcasual games are tricks to make cheap game for a quick profit

I know many would disagree

Gameboy :P

Hate the DS,touch screen is terrible, only a few good games in my opinion.

PSP,I just hate it. No reason to it,there is just something I don't like about it.

Gameboy owns all.

PSP, DS games are so basic to me, and I know someone is going to cite the huge library, but the only ones I find interesting (and the only reason I still have a DS) is castlevania.

Yeah compared to the next gen consoles but there are a few must play games on both consoles

Im playing Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core right now on psp nothing seems basic about it

I not a Final Fantasy Fan BoyI enjoy some of them and have only beat FF VII and FF VIII

And I can honestly say i haven't had this much fun in a Final Fantasy game since VIII and thats in my top 5 rpgs ever

and not thats not the only great game IMO i think theres a good amount that are better/exculsive

Ditto... Castlevania was the only reason I got a ds lite....I own 2 psp's btw ..and will be selling the dust collecting wii to get a psp-go. FF dissida comes out tommorrow, then Persona 1, Disgaea2, Socom ftbravo 3, Gt portable, Persona 3 Portable, LBP , Motorstorm , Assassins Creed Bloodlines, Dantes inferno, Soul Calibur 4 w/ kratos, MEtal Gear Peace walker, Parasite eve 3, Kingdom hearts, Final Fantasy 13: agito, and Valkyria Chroncles 2.... PSP owners have a lot to look forward to. And none of it in the cutsie kid style art design.. What i really wish is that Konami would stop making DS castlevania and make a new sequel to SOTN using the dracula x 2.5D engine as the DS castlevania games are good, the gameboy advanced ones were better and the non of them comes close to the ps1 SOTN in terms of design, quality, rpg elements, variety , gameplay, gothic art style or pure fun. (probably wont happen given they can churn out cheaper games on ds...)

The sony fanboy....? I have an xbox 360 (obviously), wii, and ps3 as well as most existing consoles of old I have over 30 consoles and over 20 handhelds. I am far from sony fanboy, but you totally BS'd that entire blog, no such poll exists.

Not everyone here is a junior high or high school student who likes mariokart and pokemon.... I am 30 and love playing my psp at my lunch break at work, or when travelling, when i go camping, or visit realitives that live far away... i also play on "the can" or in bed. I don't know anyone with portable systems besides my two nephews aged 8 and 11 and guess what they own both but favor PSP... I just bought both of them a copy of Star Wars renegade squadron we play that 3 player on holidays.... Other than that though I play it by myself and at my age it's perfectly normal. it would be abnormal for me to be playing pokemon with random 10 year olds.

I don't go to school anymore...

i have a friend that has a DS and he doesn't play it at all (Poor Guy) lol like your example thats just one guy (pointless) 8 )

While me and my friendsplay together against other peoplewhile they are stationed in Japan andGermany

With more then 4-8 players and without the pain of finding friends codes

I have6 online"not ad-hoc"games right now and i play them all regularly

both mario kart and pokemon while fun don't bring much new to the table Admitted "mario kart online was one of the first good online portable games" I found them to having much less replay value then the originals.

lol enjoy playing ds by all means

but for 99$ a psp 1000 is worth a second look if i were you

To midnightshade29:I am sorry, but did you say that only random 10 year olds play pokemon and mario kart? with all due respect sir, here in Europe, Pokemon are in the top 10 or top 5 best ds games. Many adults teenagers, ecc... play Mario kart as well, it is probably one of the funnest games ever. they are also the way I got to know the wonderful world of nintendo.

I work in a used gamestore (NOT GAMESTOP) I try to play almosteverything for all consoles

and because just because i don't like 90% of the DS and Wii games doesn't mean im playing them wrong.

And just becuase 90% of the games are worthless to me personally doesn't me i don't respect and love the 10% that are great i just play them for free

since it seems theres only one per year...

Bought both on launch (though the a phat DS during the japanese launch). Both systems are excellent. The PSP has much stronger technicals / features, however the DS offers something unqiue. Thats the big dividing gap. However. This all really boils down to what type of games you like.

It depends on my mood and where I'm going. The DS I have no problem carrying around, because it has a very good battery life, and I can shove it anywhere without fear of breaking it. The PSP on the other hand...I usually play it at home. If I'm playing something like Monster Hunter, there's no way I can feel secure about turning the thing on, and having the battery die on me at a critcal moment. I could plug it in an outlet, but if I'm somewhere like a hangout, then I'm SOL ;).

Wtf, PSP is more popular? As a GAMING console, DS butchers it. DS has a library that rivals home consoles.

Well games as art... well that is a whole different matter. What you can call art? Well uh, i guess thats your own personal opinion, however as far as casual games on the DS go, well its up to the developers. Its no secret the DS's demographic is very broad, but there are plenty of core gamer games.

agreed about the core gamers

But the causual gamers from were im standing put lots of money into games that are no better made then flash games the i can play free on the web

Thats great for profit stand point

But bad for people that dislike those games

many of us who have been gamers since the early 80s (can't speak for everyone)

Are left waiting for a few gems while week after week new games for casual gamers flood the stores

Cry when Great Games like Age of Conan go underplayed/suported because casualcomplainabout pvp every where

And Unique games like Star Wars Galaxy are forced to dumb down the entire game Used to take a year or more to become a jedi

Lose hope when games likezelda and Splinter Cell Conviction get delayed while wii active ship out.

DS owns, if you know how to optimise its use. ;) Also, it has a much better games library and is far more universal with other software.

It's in my opinion the only people who think the PSP has a better library either only play mainstream games or don't buy many games to begin with, I have not bought a "resent" game on the PSP from the point FF7:CC came out to current. It's not for the lack of money or anything of it's kind there is just nothing I have wanted. Where by the DS comes out with amazing game over and over again. To say that the PSP has a better upcoming library is again only looking at main stream games. There are many RPG like Nostalgia and Ragnarok Online DS . Other games like Professor Layton, Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter and Scribblenauts. Then you do have mainstream games like Mario & Luigi, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 and DQ9. The online between the PSP and DS are the same pretty much,

As much as I am against stubborn fanboys, I must point out that the following are FACTS.

1. Statistically speaking, the DS has many more quality games that the PSP.

2. The PSP has better hardware, but that doesn't matter in the slightest since there are relatively almost no great games for it.

3. For the majority of gamers, the DS is the must-own handheld of this generation. No ands ifs or buts.

PSP easily. The big difference between the DS and the PSP is that PSP games are actually fun. You can play real GTA on the PSP, exactly how it was on the PS2,and a dumbed down version on the DS.

PSP easily. The big difference between the DS and the PSP is that PSP games are actually fun. You can play real GTA on the PSP, exactly how it was on the PS2,and a dumbed down version on the DS.

Haha, you haven't played CHinatown wars at all. Its by far better than the fairly well-done GTA on PSP which was surprisingly close to the console versions. Shame the joystick sucks and that fact that real games should stay on consoles and PC. Not handhelds.

DS for me, I enjoy more of its library. The psp is eh I regret buying it, not much fun. Also, if you want to bring it's other funtionalities in, the DSi can do most of them too, and you still have access to a great library.

PSP. The DS library just doesn't appeal to me.

wow 50-50, personally i was pleasantly suprised by the psp, after being fairly dissappointed with the ds (got it a year after launch), and coming to the conclusion that handheld gaming wasn't for me, i decided to sell it.

i came across a psp for £40 a few months ago and thought i'll try it out, and ended up enjoying it much more than i thought i would. currently playing metal gear acid 2 on it which is great. so for me psp wins.
