Sales are off the charts apperently, im happy this game is doing great. QD really made something really special that everyone should at least give a chance.

Hell yes! That means Quantic Dream can continue to do their thing and Sony can continue to take risks. This is a very good thing for the industry.
Frankly, HR is so niche that I expect it to have comparatively low sales. If it does sell "incredibly good" then I think it will be good for diversity in gaming, but I have a feeling "incredibly good" for HR isn't the same as incredibly good in general.
I'm interested in the numbers. I was predicting a game like this to sell poorly.sammyjenkis898It's been marketed very well, and word of mouth is generally very good. A lot of people who wanted to hold off cracked and picked it up because of what people playing it were saying about the experience. Though, I do expect many of these quickly purchased new copies to be turned in, and for the game to drop off in sales like a rock by the first week when the deluge begins.

Sweet, I was hoping it would do well it is a great game. If Heavy Rain continues to de well maybe Sega will take another risk with the Shenmue series and develop a part 3. (I hope Sega was inspired by QD).

I haven't seen one commercial for it. I just didn't imagine a game that is so different to sell very well, but I guess I was wrong.
I knew it.
Single player, mature story, great graphics, exclusive. Had everything that sells on the Ps3.
Sales will be optimal for this type of niche genre.
And since is such a unique game, being on the only platform that is impossible to pirate means that any player that enjoys this unique gameplay will have to buy the game to experience.
I wouldn't be surprised even if was a hardware seller, there is no game alike this generation.

I'd wait for NPDs media crate numbers before saying that. I'd be suprised if it's on the to 10 here. Maybe Europe numbers are doing better but in America, I don't think the casual gamer even knows what Heavy Rain is.So singular jerks in single directions and the very occasional "shake controller" bit is too much for you? That's unfortunate. I can understand full on Sixaxis control portions like Lair etc being too much, and I can't stand it myself, but to put Heavy Rain down simply for its particular and very limited usage of motion control is fairly ridiculous and narrow. Anyway, this is a pleasant surprise. The game did generate large crowds at the cons I went to and I picked it up first day myself.I won't play "any" game where you are forced to use sixaxis

But is it Halo good, Gears good or just KZ2 good? I guess we'll see come NPD time. themyth01It it just sold as much as KZ2 that would be great considering what kind of game Heavy Rain is.

My biggest gripe about the PS3 is the crap controller.

Its actually a valid complaint. I find the only actions I regularly fail at are the sixaxis ones, there was a particular driving sequence where I swear I performed the required action and it failed to register. Its not a deal breaker for me, and I absolutely love Heavy Rain but I will say the sixaxis integration has been the weakest part of the game that I've found.
I know it is vgchartz and we now how reliable they can be sometimes(LOL) but their pre-order numbers were predicted at just over 100K in the US so probably first week sales aroun 150K in US and probably the same amount in Europe. So 300K WW first week for HR and a million by year end. With how high it has been on Amazon and this latest statement from Jack Trenton a million selling niche exclusive game for the PS3 is great. What if there were actually commercials for this that cater to the murder mystery movie watchers out there. This game could have been a huge hit possibly. I'm still early in he game and I'm finding the the mood and game play to be very immersive.

Yeah. Hoping for fresh new IPs, like what EA has been doing for years.Good. Hopefully now more devs. will actually you know... Take.. Risks?

I prefer the 360's controller big time, but you ranting on on the PS3's controller in a discussion about the game Heavy Rain is completely pathetic & unnecessary. So singular jerks in single directions and the very occasional "shake controller" bit is too much for you? With no opinions or analysis to back it up? Sounds like a baseless hate towards the platform to me.Really? I expected it to sell poorly. This interactive movie could end up being the best selling PS3 exclusive... at least until GT5 releases.Doolz2024Until GT5? Kratos would like to have a word with you.
Indeed ... I really thought it would be a sales flop but I was really surprised to see a lot of people on my friends list playing it day oneHell yes! That means Quantic Dream can continue to do their thing and Sony can continue to take risks. This is a very good thing for the industry.

+1 -- but it's been top of the charts for at least as long as Uncharted 2...so I could easily see 2M copies in the first month, and maybe a total of around 4.It's been at the top over at Amazon for some time now, I'm quite surprised.

Weird how heavy rain is actually being played. I remember the initial responses on GS; they weren't nice. Fahrenheit wasn't succesful either i thought.
Also weird how much money they threw at developing this game.
I'm glad You people aren't as shallow as i expected. Or was it the marketing?
