[QUOTE="HermitGTX"][QUOTE="Paladin_King"] So singular jerks in single directions and the very occasional "shake controller" bit is too much for you? That's unfortunate. I can understand full on Sixaxis control portions like Lair etc being too much, and I can't stand it myself, but to put Heavy Rain down simply for its particular and very limited usage of motion control is fairly ridiculous and narrow. Anyway, this is a pleasant surprise. The game did generate large crowds at the cons I went to and I picked it up first day myself.shalashaska88
My biggest gripe about the PS3 is the crap controller.
With no opinions or analysis to back it up? Sounds like a baseless hate towards the platform to me. That is exactly what it is, just your typical SW weirdo. You aren't gonna get through a single thread without at least 1 of them popping up.I don't see why any one would buy it for full price honestly.. Its one of those type of games you rent, then you get when its extremely cheap.. IMO of course.sSubZerOoI guess you hated last gen then?
as a gamer this is a depressing news. now we can expect more developers to make interactive movies and sell em as video games.
[QUOTE="Ratchet_Fan8"]Yeah im quite surprised myself,although the R2 ticked me off abit =/ i Never thought that a QTE heavy game like this would go that far SONY has the only devs that make QTE's so greatogvampire
isnt Quantic Dreams a 3rd party dev?
Well Sony published it like how people were praising Atlus for Demon's souls while From software made that game.

It's a third party game, by a third party dev. It started off as a PS3 and 360 title, but for some reason (Probably disk space, and funding) Sony picked up he publishing.

ok.... my point remains the same. whether its 2nd party or 3rd party, it still wasnt developed by sony
publish =/= develop
Is this supposed to be an insult? Even the developers call it "interactive drama". Maybe you should try broadening your horizons and stop hating.as a gamer this is a depressing news. now we can expect more developers to make interactive movies and sell em as video games.

yeah... what this person said^
Im curious to see what the numbers are. This is obviously based on estimates, so its done better than those. I dont see this game beating out a game like Bioshock 2 in its first week (Bioshock 2 on PS3 sold about 250k its first week) so Im gonna guess somewhere around 150-200k
http://kotaku.com/5480606/sony-heavy-rain-selling-incredibly-well-no-need-for-ps4-yet
Sales are off the charts apperently, im happy this game is doing great. QD really made something really special that everyone should at least give a chance.
hmmmm, usually that is code for "the sales are lackluster but I want to make it seem like everyone is buying it up so maybe that can convince others to buy it before the NPD results come out and make me look like a total lying ****"I guess I gotta be that guy but what is "incredible well"?Shattered007You'd be surprised what is considered profitable. System wars seems to think only Halo-size sales can be profitable. A million sold for any game is really good for the dev and publisher. Sometimes even just 500k can be profitable depending on how much it took to make the game.
Such as? It seems like they hammer the "exciting and fun" stuff pretty hard. Slower and methodical is part of why it's a risk.That's great that developers will be encouraged to take more risks now, but I really hope that these risks start moving towards the more exciting and fun end of the spectrum.

I'm thinking more about using new technologies and engines to rethink videogames in terms of how we interact with what's happening the world, but maybe without reducing the level of that interaction and maybe involving giving the player more control over the world instead of taking away control for the sake of narrative. I'm not a game developer though.
Tretton may not have simply been spouting PR about Heavy Rain's sales performance.
Heavy Rain has topped the UK charts.
Apparently it does so "despite widespread reports of shortages."
[QUOTE="shawn7324"]
We are also just now starting to see Heavy Rain rising as one of the most sold used games as well.
Ninten007
Any proof to back up that claim?
Either way you could say that about any game.
The nature of the game lends itself to this (which is not to say his claim is entirely accurate).
Lol Heavy Rain just pulled of a double whammy... Nobody thought it would get the scores it got (90 avrage!) and the people that thought it would score well said it would be a sales flop :D
Just experienced this first hand. Went in to buy Sonic & SEGA All Stars Racing and Heavy Rain and only came away with the former :( Not that it matters with PSN the way it is right now. :)Tretton may not have simply been spouting PR about Heavy Rain's sales performance.

I don't need proof to back up a claim purely decided by common sense. Nothing against Heavy Rain, any popular single player only game follows the same exact trend. Everyone whom bought the game day 1 has already or will soon complete the game, most will sell it. The only reason I mention it is to try & pull back some of those whom are thinking Heavy Rain is the absolute greatest game ever back to reality.From what I seen the majority here said it would be in the 8.0 to 9.0 range, so they pretty much nailed that. I did hear a bunch of crap about the game not selling well, but I don't know why as it is a super hyped PS3 exclusive. Any game that builds up loyal support before release is destined to sell well, that is once again common sense. So basically sorry your double whammy line failed.Lol Heavy Rain just pulled of a double whammy... Nobody thought it would get the scores it got (90 avrage!) and the people that thought it would score well said it would be a sales flop :D
