It doesn't matter how many enemies or "distance" (look at oblivion!), what does matter is that 360 doesn't have a motion sensing controller like the Wii or the PS-wii does, Lair prolly can be done on the wii, and I haven't heard anything about Lair being exclusive...sooo who knows....

The original Far crys draw in distance was 1.2km with 20 or more enimies on screen as well / thread.htekemerald

And yet, we had Epic saying that Gears could not be done on PS3. Remember how many threads that spawned?

Take whatever developers say with a grain of salt if their titles are console exclusives.

who said DMC4 couldn't be done on 360? if you haven't looked at the screens, the game doesn't look all that impressive (graphics wise). GS even said it was not meeting next-gen standards for graphics on one of their hands-on.

 

the dev did back when it was only a ps3 title.

this was back in 9/06. the 360 was out for almost a year already and they still claimed that. that's why devs you have to take everything a dev says the a grain of salt. they are under pressure from the publishers to hype their game. of course they are going to say that it's awesome and if it's exclusive then they'll say it'll do things that can't be done on other systems too. it's just marketing.

and what do you know about Pre-Alpha stages and stuff? The dev himself said it was Prealpha, a game can be optimized at any time and vamped up near the end to, so you - clueless.

No, no i didn't. :| If you actually READ my post, i said Halo 3 runs on the Halo 3 engine, after you claimed it was a vamped halo 2 engine. That is correct. I said the footage shown in the vidoc, was running on a modified halo 2 engine; as it's months old.

So thank you for making a fool of yourself there. As for the rest of the post, link me to the "dev himself" saying Lair is currently in a pre-alpha build.

I know the link isn't coming, as that's nonsense. And you call me clueless. Funny.

Yeah just like Capcom said that DMC4 couldn't have bee done on 360. Good thing they decided to make it multiplatform on 360 because they would have been laughed to death at by Team Ninja when Ninja Gaiden 2 comes out.

Capcom, "DMC4 can only be done on PS3."

Tecmo, "I'm then why does our Ninja Gaiden 2 look so much better? Hell why does our remake of an xbox game look better?"

Moral of the story. Don't listen to devs anything on 360 can be done on PS3 and vice versa. Cows you guys claimed that Itagaki was a freaking Saint because he was real about developers complaining about PS3 architecture now you're just being hypocritical about it. If the dev is talented enough he can make the game for each system, period end of discussion. Sure there might be some minor differences but more or less they will be the same.

Let me get this straight - did he seriously just say the current build-state of Lair is pre-alpha build, yet it's releasing in two months? Do these people even know what the words they're using mean? Ninja-Vox

Ever thought the game could get delayed? Did you not see how Motorstorm improved over a 3 month gap? It looks hell loads better.

When a developer says that a game cannot run on one system, they mean that in it's current state it couldn't because it was coded specifically to take advantage of one consoles strengths and limitations. Meaning it couldn't be done on the other consoles unless it was completely re-coded with the other consoles strenghts and weaknesses in mind.

Downgraded to 720p @ 30fps, but yeah...it does look better.

Downgraded to 720p @ 30fps, but yeah...it does look better. 

720p is the second best resolution out there, and theres minority difference between that and 1080p. 30FPS, not bothered about, still ran great.

Graphically it looked better however in a short period of time.

What was wrong with Crackdown's graphics? They were intentionally stylized..

car detail, building detail, all lacklustre. Even though it was stylized, which was noticable, they could atleast make the car detail and buildings detailed.

So what, you know better than Factor 5? People should realise that F5 aren't in Sony's pocket, they would have continued to
develop on Nintendo systems had Nintendo not have been so hazy on what the Wii was going to be. They went to MS, who 
wanted HD games and  technology pushed but not to the extent of Sony so they signed a deal with Sony to make games for
them. They didn't have to say it couldn't be done on the 360, they weren't paid to, it's just what they decided to say.

I think it also refers to when you're flying around over all of the buildings/hills/water etc.

You're beginning to amaze me. When did i say it would look better? Where have i questioned the game's visual quality at all? You're responding to posts i haven't even made. I said it is impossible for this game to be in a pre-alpha build if it's coming out in eight weeks. Impossible. Alpha is the very first build of a game in it's development time. Like i said, bungie's beta starts in two weeks and it has six months left. Their alpha finished a good year before the game ships. It is impossible that Facor Five are still in alpha. Get me? Sheesh. 

And i watched your video; he doesn't even mention the build. And he says it's out in july, so your delay theory is out the window.

He didn't even say that. He said the engine as it is now could only run on the PS3. Fanboys just take words out of context. I mean, look at the screens. Is it infinately better than the likes of Gears or Mass Effect? No, not at all.

No they said it was alpha, but very close to BETA, and made light of the fact that it was an older build and nicer screenshots would be released of the game's current build; which were. We've all seen the great new shots. The TC is saying it's "pre alpha" which is just nonsense. Two months away from launch? You're telling me they haven't got the FIRST build done, two months away from launch?

Ok, lets say if it is being from ground up, lets say it is still in Pre-Alpha stage to, the same can be said for Lair. Its Pri-Alpha, and its built from the ground up, and it shows what Next Gen really means. Halo3 however hasnt shown anything mindblowing, hell, it looks like Halo 2.

Lair never even had a pre-alpha build. You really haven't got a clue what you're talking about. The footage shown of Halo 3 is from months ago; running on a modified halo 2 engine. The game now runs on the halo 3 engine, built specifically for this game; like all bungie projects.

The halo 3 BETA starts in a couple of weeks; yet the game isn't out for half a year. It is impossible for Lair to be in alpha, if it's out in two months. Impossible.

ign said it was in alpha still.. sooo... im gonna go with their word.

No they said it was alpha, but very close to BETA, and made light of the fact that it was an older build and nicer screenshots would be released of the game's current build; which were. We've all seen the great new shots. The TC is saying it's "pre alpha" which is just nonsense. Two months away from launch? You're telling me they haven't got the FIRST build done, two months away from launch?

I don't think it's in pre-alpha. I haven't ever heard of a game not even a single software (except for small scripts) can go from pre-alpha to final in 2 months. gnutux

Im sure ther was a video where they mentioned it was Pre-Alpha. You think everyone(cows) would be saying this game is Pre alpha for no reason? na didnt think so.

Anyway, i will dig a link for that. I was comparing motorstorm as an example of how a game can be accelerated through graphics in such little time. The Final build of Lair(If in pre alpha) make look different, but at a minority difference.

You guys are talking about 20 characters on screen, has anybody ever played dead rising. Also, I am not a fanboy, lair does look good. However, those streaming graphics look good while flying in air, but on the ground is a different story.  Lair engine probably cannot mess with UE3 when the game is close up rather than flying over a whole map. But for the record, lair does look good and you ps3 owners should be happy.
