That doesn't mean much really, Nintendo pulled the Wii and DS out of it's behind while suffering from the bomb of the Gamecube. It's always possible that a tight budget might make them rethink adding rediculously expensive equipment and less time spent researching peripherals for the system that don't come out for years "Sup move". Saying that the PS4 will suck because of a stringest development budget isn't the best way to think about it. Sounds more like they aren't going to fund wastefull spending.http://www.industrygamers.com/news/sony-wont-make-massive-investment-in-ps4/

I don't think it will suck, but it may not be as impressive as the PS3 hardware was at launch. Xbox might be the most powerful console, which actually might be bad for MS, as the most powerful console has not won the past 2 generations in sales.http://www.industrygamers.com/news/sony-wont-make-massive-investment-in-ps4/

The way I understood it was that they are not going to make it a $599 machine that has stuff in it that you dont really need (but is nice). I thought most people would be happy about this :P.
I am and Sony seem to go better with a weaker console. The way I understood it was that they are not going to make it a $599 machine that has stuff in it that you dont really need (but is nice). I thought most people would be happy about this :P.

This doesn't mean they will make the weakest system. Sony is all about pride and excellence and only the best, they always try to have the best tech products out there. See their other products. This just means they won't bother with facilities trying to make another so called "The Cell" chip all over again. This proved wasteful to them.
I'm just gonna assume that they aren't gonna design a whole new CPU architecture AND a whole new disc format.
I don't want them investing on a bundle of hardware and peripherals anyways. Just give us a powerful next gen system that works like now (but powerful enough to be next gen) and I'm good. I'm fine with the current controller design anyways.
I take it that they'll go with less specialized hardware and use Nvidia/Intel/ATI components rather than completely custom built things. This is similar to what the Xbox did this gen.
I think the controller could use a redesign, not a fan of the analog sticks' position and it's not as overall comfy as the xbox one...I don't want them investing on a bundle of hardware and peripherals anyways. It was the best controller when it was introduced, by miles though.

Better than this number:hockeyruler12Well yea..  I'm thinking maybe, Sony's inept at controller design, one hit wonder, better not change anything or they'll ruin it.
I hope they don't change the design. I think its better than the 360 controller in every way. The only controller better than it is Classic Controller Pro IMO
Between the Ngp specs, psn outage, and now this...

It wouldn't be too hard to make a few alterations. Just fix up the triggers to be more like the 360 and make the analog sticks concave for more comfort, but maintain the same comfortable shape and design. I think it could do with adding a few buttons, so as to allow more complexity and control schemes in games, but thats just me and it wouldn't really be used for multiplats.

If this is true i won't be getting a playstation 4, i want the best of the best when it comes to gaming. I'll hate to do it but ill go back to xbox
It just means they didn't buy facilities and aren't going to push a new format (most likely).... :roll:If this is true i won't be getting a playstation 4, i want the best of the best when it comes to gaming. I'll hate to do it but ill go back to xbox

maybe they'll go with cloud gaming this time, doesn't cloud gaming can get the best of gameplay & graphics out there without a graphic card or expensive hardware?
All they really need to do is buy some mid range pc components such as athlon 2 x4 radeon 5770 and 4gb ram and they would have something that would be a big steep forward. Investing big bucks in parts just for a console really makes no sense. mid range pc components would give you a really powerful system when there is only one set of hardware to design for. Than system could be had for under $400 and I'm sure if they built in bulk it would be cheaper.imprezawrx500That's not Sony's way. But if what they say about brand name.. they could do this and then just put Sony on it and people will buy.
This means no R&D cost, so it will be a hardware power jump and possibly some new media features with a stronger online or they might look at Cafe/xbox3 and copy what they do so that Sony can save some resources that would otherwise go to research.
In other words nothing new.
-.- Yea, sure if you enjoy 120-500ms input lag and have no bandwidth cap.. And it still doesn't play maxxed out. (so no, not yet is cloud gaming a solution)maybe they'll go with cloud gaming this time, doesn't cloud gaming can get the best of gameplay & graphics out there without a graphic card or expensive hardware?

Especially since they're not releasing this year, or even next(most likely) I'd say 2013.

It took three of Nvidia's best card to run the Samaritan demo. I wouldn't expect consoles to run that anytime soon without costing an arm and a leg. Plus, the good thing about consoles is the amount of optimization they allow the developers. If current consoles can put out the kind of games we're seeing with the dated hardware they got now I'd imagine the 5770 would be able to keep us impressed for at least a few years. All they did was make the controller longer  It looks pretty obvious that there wasn't a modification to button/stick placement of any kind, and the part where you hold the controller isn't really any different, just a little wider.[QUOTE="WilliamRLBaker"]So you used it then? you used the batarang controller and have every method of critiquing it? *you didn't but im making a point here*

um...you must not be looking at the same controller....

Obviously you aren't or you refuse to see it.
Dpad is offset at an angle following the left hand hold, the face buttons are set at an angle following the right handheld, the analog sticks are further down and further apart, the L1, R1, L2, R2 are all further up on the controller so the tips of your fingers are hitting them.
It is pretty obvious that the original concept controller was very much changed from the original Dual shock design and its sad they didn't use it it looked to be far more ergonomic then the dualshock design.
One of the chief problems with the analog sticks on the dualshock is they are too close together forcing you to stretch your thumbs out to them instead of your thumbs resting on them naturally.
The thing is, Sony never needed to have the most powerful hardware to win the market share from its competition. They needed the sales (helped by 1st-party games), that brought in the games from third-party devs which in turn made it the platform of games, not unlike the PS2. They didn't see that for some reason. Instead of spending millions in Cell design and production, had they come out with a cheaper PS3 in a more timely fashion accompanied by multiple triple A games(software is where they need to invest), it would have put them in first place. themyth01they were trying to go for more then just a console they wanted a comprehensive go to place for all things media in your home hence why they were trying to claim it would replace pc's.
PS3 hardcore fans consider those "not needed but nice" stuff as essential. Frankly I really hope SONY focuses more on gaming and less on another media format and make devs lives easier this time around. If they picked up normal PC components off the market when designing the PS4, they might hopefully have their hardware even easier to develop for than X360The way I understood it was that they are not going to make it a $599 machine that has stuff in it that you dont really need (but is nice). I thought most people would be happy about this :P.

Yes, it's coming back to me now. It was Sony's identity disorder, all those weird ads about the PS3 with no clear purpose. PS3 was quite the major business screw up, that's for sure.
Last I heard 'bout that, they just said that they weren't going to buy production facilities for garbage like the cell again -.-, not like they're going down the wii route..Inconsistancy
"garbage like the cell"????????????
I don't even know where to begin:roll:
Well I guess I could begin with tons of devs who have had nothing but praise for the "garbage" you speak of...
