Great score by a ratchet fan Mcshea, from the looks of all the reviews coming in from all the other sites and this review this sounds like the best ratchet to date which is awesome because I loved TOD and will love this one too. I just wish I had the funds to get it right now but bills, bills, bills.

I feel you on that one man. I want to get Demon's Souls, R&C, and Borderlands or Dragon Age but student loans are killing me. Luckily that's why man made gamefly.
Ah this is a great score. But still, Insomniac should be a little embarrassed for being the only developer in sony's 'main' lineup to not score an AAA. :P

You mean AAA on Gamespot. IGN and others seem to love the game. 8.5 is certainly a step up from the truly difficult to comprehend 7.5 Gamespot handed out to Tools of Destruction. With a metacritic average of 8.9, that score was truly questionable. Still, my complaint is you read the review and really find no truly negative remarks. No problems other than an occasional mysterious glitch Gamespot seems to always run into that no one else does. In fact, the review basically seems to rave on the game. Ive seen them give better scores to reviews like this. They did the same thing with TOD. The IGN reviewers are fans of the series. I really dont think this is the case here. In fact, looking at Gamespot's scores on the series as a whole, they have only handed out one 9.0...the first one lol. All others have been less than a 9.0 with most falling in the 8.5 or above range. IGN is the exact opposite with only two scoring below a 9.0 (Going Commando and the abysmal PS2 version of Size Matters).

I lol'ed when I read your comment on the 'mysterious glitch'. And i'm quite sure this isn't the first time I've heard this in a review either.
And with the recently released games, there's been so much 'no originality' remarks, which is starting to get on my nerves. Whats even funnier is that in the GS review for this game, the guy mentioned the 'really fun new clank sequences' too, so...:?

Great score if you consider the whole 1-10 scale. Of course, GS mostly uses only 5-10 these days (hate it, so many games overrated!), so looks like everything has to be a 9 to be considered great. Anyway, A Crack in Time is awesome.
