Just play the main games. That's what I do. I ignore all the spin-offs. They went a bit crazy in the early 2000's with yearly releases from 2003 to 2005 but the last one was 2 and a half years ago which is a decent wait time. Though Into The Nexus sucked so I know where you're coming from.

I am told 8s are flops. Is that no longer the case?

It seems a lot of games get 8's on here....like 8 is average, then it jumps to fantabulous 9 and then perfect 10.

In 1 point grade it goes from what most games get to what I'm guesding is reserved for only the elite.

NyaDC! We need to you add up all the review scores like you did with QB and see if R&C actually comes out with a lower score than Metacritic gave it!... it will be more proof of the CBS/Sony conspiracy you uncovered in the other thread.

If a crappy remake of a kid's game ends up with a higher MC than the Game of the Generation Quantum Break ... then the conspiracy will be absolutely proven. Even the uneducated posters that make up SW will be able to see that ...

Lots of 8.0 gamesw getting 9.0 and those deserving 9.0 or higher getting lower. This is worrying :(

a meh Walking Dead gets 9.0 , yet Dark Souls 3 , R & C , QB getting lower score than expected compared to other sites :(

Just rechecked the metacritic page.....40 reviews ALL positive.

@StrongBlackVine: lol... Yeah its not a bad price for a retail game... Buuut, when staring down the barrel of alienation and hyper light drifter for the end of the month I'm more apt to get the indies at less money and probably (though I can let confirm till I play) more rewarding experiences.

But we get r+c down to 20 bucks. I'm in.

QB is boring, really damn boring, gears of war 4 has to be better than it because there isn't much else to go but up, only the live action is entertaining.

Ahhh!. I've Hopes for Gears 4 as i really enjoyed Gears series on 360, New protagonists and all. Fingers crossed on Gears 4 lol.

So according to SW standards Ratchet and Clank with an 8 score is -----> a flop.

So that means UC4 is a guaranteed 9+ on GS :). Lemmings be suicidal and all.

I'd like the game to be good, I mean it's an overhyped series that's only slightly above average in my opinion but still, better to have more quality games, especially since microsoft only has 4 1st party devs for actual games (not counting tablet and 3rd party self publishing studio)

They need it. I'd like microsoft to be there as competition just in case nintendo doesn't nail it with the nx, though nintendo vs sony is the ideal.

I'm a little low on expectations for gears of war 4 since it's not the same studio.

You can call me whatever you want Champ, but the review system here is incredibly inconsistent, and deserves to be questioned. Maybe they should let their staff review more games instead of passing them off to freelance writers.

What the hell does the Gamespot staff do all day anyway? Because Freelancers seem to do an awful lot of their work.

games dont start at 10's and then get negative points if thats whats bothering you. I see nothing wrong with the review, if they are going to include a story its open to criticism.
