What is it with short games nowadays? Game complanies tack on a multiplayer component and leave out half the game. Isnt itbad enough we're paying $60 for games now and then they make them shorter. I swear I'm starting to hate gaming more then ever.

Apparently running through it's around 10-12 hours long, but if you take the time and explore, it's expected to be around 20-22 hours long. So it's just a matter of waiting to see.

That sounds about what RE4 was.
RE4 wasn't 20 hours long. It took me 16 hours to beat it the first time through and like 8 the second time through.
IGN said in the review its 10 hours long.[QUOTE="lundy86_4"]

"If you plow through without scouring every nook and cranny, expect RE5 to last you between 10 and 12 hours. But if you want to uncover everything, expect to easily invest double that." So I would say expect 15-17 hours if you play through regularly
Remember they might of cut out parts and will charge for them as DLC later down the line.

Oh Capcom, you greedy sneaks. If that's the case that really is milkage.
[QUOTE="JunkTrap"]I hope the game has a lot of replability, otherwise this game sounds like a rent.lundy86_4
The IGN reviewer said it was one of the few games where he fired it up straight away for another playthrough.
Still sounds like a rental at best. I'm not supporting Capcom with my money until they announce better Wii games.I guess they tried to "Westernize" it. I'm not a fan of this trend where Japanese developers are trying to appeal to the Western audience by shortening single player and focusing more and more on multiplayer. But that's just me :)
IGN said in the review its 10 hours long. did you read what they said. They said if you rush through it and dont explore it takes about 10-12 hours, and if you explore every nook and cranny its double the length here i'll quote it[QUOTE="lundy86_4"]

Oh, it is. I almost threw up in the demo when you were forced to wait for the AI to open a door....[QUOTE="Silent-Hal"]. If Sheva ends up being too much of a hassle it could be a game breaker for me. loco145
Let's not exagerate people. And... you don't have to wait for anything. You give her covering fire and she will make every effort to open the door.
You know whats funny, all these games gears, bioshock,Call Of Duty, Half life episodes, their all extremely short, but with RE5 its 20 hours or bust. Also about your sig, do you work there because I work in a showroom 3 aves? downThe development cost is so much higher these days that 10 hours is what is pretty standard.

Color me funny, but has there been a shooter whose average game time, under normal circumstances, exceeded 20 hours in the history of gaming? Everyone's complaining about games getting shorter and shorter, but I have to wonder if it's more a matter of perception than reality.
10 hours is the minimum playthrough, I doubt your average gamer is going to spend only that little time on it.
If you consider the fact that this game is highly replayable via co-op/online co-op, there's a lot of additional hours there.
To put things into perspective, an average RPG clocks in at around 20 hour, so RE5 isn't short at all.
Gamers have such high standards these days. No wonder developers are breaking their banks trying to create games, only to have them critized by ungrateful people who are impossible to please.
I know one thing. This game better be something special, because unlike everybody else, so far I am not impressed.
Shorter games are not a bad thing. I actually like the shorter games so far because I'm not tired of them going on for days to complete. I like playing Oblivion but that game goes on forever and ever and ever and ever and ever.....What is it with short games nowadays? It's just the "norm" on the consoles nows. No matter how pitifully short it may be.Stevo_the_gamerIt's always been the norm for shooters and action-heavy adventures unless you can show otherwise.

I beat RE4 my first time through on Gamecube Early 2005, in about 9 hours and change, and that was after messing around.
If RE4 took you 20 hours, I'm sure RE5 will take you 20 hours too.
This is why I'm up in the air about buying it. I love RE, but $60 for a 10 hour game is usually a no-no for me.
Then again, I tend to only spend an hour at a time playing games (except Fallout 3) and that artificially extends the time it takes for me to beat them. I'll end up flipping a coin or something to decide.
im still getting it because im a long time resident evil fan. I love chris' storyline, also wesker is bad ass.
i bought heavenly sword for $60 and i beat in 5 hoursThis is why I'm up in the air about buying it. I love RE, but $60 for a 10 hour game is usually a no-no for me.
